Everyone just got nailed beyond belief. |

if I'm wade why did I sell deron for myself and get caught up at work so I couldn't check if I was in the starting lineup?
I'm nailed too.

anyone know why Horford is listed as questionable for tmr's game? i looked at local paper and they mentioned Horford a few times but no word of any injury. There's even an article of how well he and josh smith played together lately.

#1 - Crap, I didn't realize you had made a trade already, I thought you were standing pat for the day.
Horford took a hard fall I think. I've been struggling with that all afternoon, but the Wade thing makes it even harder to plan. This is an ugly situation all around for everyone, I don't think there's much we can do but wait it out.

CJ, I think it was Blooki modifying those teams, or maybe someone else. I was only running what was Blooki 6, and he took that one over for me today and undid my Deron to Wade move on there. I actually have to head out in a few minutes, I'm just doing some last scrambling at the moment.

I was fortunate enough to be able to undo my trades back into Wade---got Roy instead;)--- but still, if one of my players plays, doesn't get injured, and gets within 10 of his season average I consider it a good game the way things are going for everybody.

This may be another reason why this game is failing. I own a top 20 team and 3 other top 50 teams and a 5th top 5 RV team and yet I really wish it was over. In fact, I no longer care much at all about my teams and I wish it ended several weeks ago.
At this point life happens way more than hoops matter. I check in once a night or early the next morning. I make my trades after freeze or early in the day most of the time now and really just hope to get to mid April.
This end of the year stuff is not only frustrating but it detracts from the fun of the first three months. A game to the all-star break in ultimate would be much better.
Today I sold Duncan for Wade. Duncan was a DNP in his last and Wade is a DNP today. Not only did I not check at game time (like I did the first 3 months even tho I could have tonight if I wanted too) but I don't even care that Wade didn't play. Perhaps that is yet another sign that it is time to move on.
I will continue to use my 4 trades per week but to who and when is quite insignificant.
Congrats to all those who can stick it out for the whole season. SU, I hope you get help someday :). To those I connected with, you have all been really great. I wish you all the best.
Best wishes to wire to those of you who are still fighting for positions.

I can't access Ultimate Hoops at all. I'm glad I made my trades involving the late games before I left work.
30
When I first played this game six years ago rosters were frozen at noon EST every day. If your player was a late (or not so late) scratch you were just screwed. While there is certainly great benefit to being able to make trades as late as game time, it does make the game more time consuming and stressful, since you're always afraid you'll miss news that other people have.
Maybe the game would have more participation if there was an earlier freeze for the whole day and the playing field was even for the people who don't have the time or fanaticism to stick around until games start every day.

Man, this is getting depressing with everyone leaving / talking of leaving. This really has been a demoralizing week. In the twelve years I've played this game, the last 24 hours have by far been the most out of control and just flat out crushing, and I know it's pretty much been that way for everyone too. On nights like these I just have to laugh about it, because really, what can you do?
One of the things I love (I don't know if that's the right word...) about this game is how much work's involved and how there's so much to do and think about compared to other draft and trade type games, but at the same time I'm afraid to not be sitting at the computer for every freeze hitting refresh constantly. It's so addicting though and honestly I'd miss it a lot if this game stopped existing. I haven't gotten more than four hours of sleep in over two weeks now, and here I am up almost two hours past my bedtime posting to the boards.
Good luck everyone, can't wait for the latest news in the morning (or realistically, two minutes post-freeze).

I agree that the noon freeze was less taxing, but now that we're used to gametime trading, it would be tough to go back.
33
agreed SU...I understand where G and Blooki are coming from though. the end of the season is always a grind. which is why the yahoo roto leagues are so inherently flawed. what's the point of forming a great team when it really comes down to whether you have players with anything left to play for in the last 3 weeks of the season.
like you, I'm kind of laughing it off and not too worried about it, but I won't be overly sad to see the season come to a close...even though it's been a great one...provided I don't fall into 3rd or 4th that is.

Best wishes to you and your niece KI, that certainly puts things in perspective.
I don't mind the dnp's like duncan and rip last night. I had friends over and just made my trades assuming everything was fine. Before I went to bed I checked in and saw the 2 random dnp's, it didn't bother me a bit because I was doing other things. What does bother me is when I am home getting ready to watch the Celtics and I see Wade, who I just bought on all teams, will be out and I can undo it because I'm available but then can't because of some error on TSN's part. Very disheartening.

ki, thanks for your input and I hope your niece's condition is treatable.
As for the game, I think the chance that everything can blow up in your face might make it more addictive. Every move feels like a gamble and that's sort of a rush, but thankfully I'm putting only pride and emotion on the line and not a large amount of money!
These injury situations never get so bad that they keep the smart managers from finishing near the top every year. And not only do we get to start over next year, we get to start over as soon as tomorrow if we have enough trades.

There's a link on the TSN site that tells you how to e-mail them if you can't make a move because of technical problems. I'd tell you where to find it but I still can't access Ultimate Hoops!
