0 Subject: Last Day Wrap-Up Discussion

Figured I'd get try to get some discussion going since it's the last day of the season (but hopefully not the end of this game).

1. Who was your MVP this year?
2. What was your "move of the season"?
3. Who was your LVP this year?
4. What was your biggest mistake of the season?
5. Who got added to your "never again" list?
6. Who is the most frustrating player to own that you know you will keep taking again and again?
7. What was the most memorable "disaster" of your season?
8. Do you have an Art Junior nomination? (we need to bring this back)

Feel free to add more questions, hopefully we can get a good thread going.

1. Wade(TSN not NBA therefor, that is another discussion, not going into that)
2. Owning Wade most of the time I think
3. A.Brooks
4. Can clearly remember D.Arthur(Memphis) was a horrible buy. Selling David Lee before I really had to.
5. Okur
6. Jason Kidd
7. Definitely 4/13, that night. Plus the Durant drama.
8. Not sure what that is...

Art Jr. was from awhile back, several years ago. I forget the exact context and how exactly it took off, but someone made a post about Art Glover's performance in the game. Art Glover of course does not exist, and was an accidental blending of Dion Glover and Art Long. Art jr. was the award given to inexplicably boneheaded moves for several weeks after, it seems to pop up every so often. I love forum crazes like that. I forget who made the original post and who came up with the whole Art Jr. concept.

That prolly is selling Deron on 4/12 for me, that was pretty dumb in retrospect.
For Tony Parker, who always screws me over.(That GSW match up made me do that)
His name can be put next to Jason Kidd.

1. Wade. The amazing thing is, unlike Lebron / Paul / Howard, there were a big chunks of the season where a lot of people didn't have him even though his schedule was good. He was the rare player that mattered and always delivered.

2. Aside from drafting Wade, I'd have to go with Camby to Jefferson. Camby was questionable (of course) and I was being stubborn thinking he'd play. I finally stopped seeing what I wanted to see and had a choice of buying Amare (who had a one game advantage) or Jefferson and I gambled with Jefferson. Amare had his negative point game that day and Jefferson was huge for me for the few weeks I had him.

3. This one's tough. Maybe Bobby Simmons? Actually no, Duncan. Every time I picked him up to get a game advantage, he DNP'd. That Deron-Duncan week was particularly infuriating.

4. Everything surrounding the Lee to Shaq move. At the time I was able to justify it by Shaq's consistent averages, the money swing, and most importantly wanting to have that money freed up to fit everyone in. Shaq just started playing horribly the instant I bought him, Lee continued going off, and then Paul got injured. I kept thinking Paul would be back immediately so I never used the extra money I had on moving the under-performing Shaq to post-Bynum-injury Gasol who was just dominating everyone. Then I finally did sell Shaq, only to watch him in seemingly slow motion put up 70 while Durant left the game in 5 minutes due to injury. I'll never forget that one.

Also wish I had taken CV over Diaw that one week. I was also too stubborn in refusing to buy Sessions earlier in the year, but I just don't trust Skiles at all.

5. Okur. I never want to buy him, and at the end of the season I always end up being forced into taking him, and always end up incredibly disappointed. 17 TSNP and a DNP. Fantastic.

6. Dirk / Bosh. They always seem like must-buys when their schedules are good, but they're not anywhere close to the upper level of studs who don't make you fear checking the box scores.

7. Since I already covered the Durant one, had to have been buying Devin Harris a few weeks ago. He had a 10 games to Andre Miller's 11, but was playing out of his mind consistently and Miller made me nervous. Harris of course left the game due to injury, and it triggered that chain of events where I essentially used 6 trades to lose points and money.

8. Not sure at the moment. I'll think of one.

1. Wade the first part of the season when not everyone had him. It killed me to not have him in January when most others did. The only other good differential pick I remember is Al Jefferson for the 2-3 weeks before he tore up his knee. I didn't have a true MVP like Joel Przybilla four years ago.

2. SU, I'm like you, it feels like nothing works even though some things have to be working if I entered today 12th in the prize standings. Tony Parker recently was pretty good.

3. Anthony Morrow was the most useless player I've ever owned in this game by far except for the time when I had someone named Frank Williams for a week and he never played for me. Arthur screwed all my teams early too.

4. Too many mistakes to dwell on for too long, but my biggest might have been buying Luis Scola today!

5. I don't have a "never again" list. The guys we think of as the most injury prone are Camby and Gerald Wallace and sometimes they are on such tears that it's torture to not have them. Camby has screwed me really badly every time I've ever had him BTW. I didn't have him this year, but has anyone noticed how often Caron Butler comes up lame? If anything is a "never again" it's putting much weight in the fantasy websites after the terrible information they gave us on Paul today, Deron Williams this week and David West two weeks ago.

6. That could apply to just about anybody. I've come to accept the fact that most players are inconsistent. Deejay's been complaining about Andre Miller a lot because he's had some bad games, but overall he's been okay.

7. Buying Duncan the day he DNP'd. I think I had avoided those for 2 or 3 years.

8. I don't go far back enough to remember anyone having Dion Glover or Art Long, but I do remember somebody running Okur and Ricky Davis' names into Okur R. Davis and Dunkenstein saying that sounded like some southern sheriff.

SU, congratulations on the championship you're about to win. You deserve it, but I hope you come back as paranoid as ever.

Oh crap, Morrow! I completely forgot about him. Good call on the fantasy websites. TSN was great pretty much all year but the past two weeks they've just been blowing it. I wish they'd name their sources. I spent so much time searching for Deron Williams' status the other day, I found one newspaper in Canada that had him listed as doubtful, but everything else had nothing. I wonder if that's where they got it from, but I don't see how they could list him as doubtful when everything else contradicted that. Rotoworld has been pretty iffy lately too.

Thanks, realistically I'll be back and twice as paranoid. I'm already looking forward to next year.

1. Wade and Lebron
2. Not sure I had one but owning B. Lopez early in the season when no one in GMD had him on top team and another team owning Telfair for about month at .50 while starting.
3. ?
4. JO!! Arthur and then there was the week bought new player and DNP and next player DNP same week. Taking too long to buy Lee and Durant and not buying Nate since he was a sub.
5. Added JO again.
6. G. Wallace, Kobe, Duncan(although I did not won him this year on top team), Camby
7. JO since near end of season stands out
8.?

1. In TSN, Wade. Un-frickin-believable!
2. Owning Lebron for all but 2 weeks of the season.
3. A. Brooks was a killer...
4. Thinking I could come back after 5-6 years away and compete for a top-100 WWR.
5. Camby - until tonight
6. Aldridge or Dirk
7. My team - Sacramento Kings...LOL; In TSN, Picking up Harris the day before his first big injury.
8. Hmmm, not sure what this is...

What you say about Bosh and Dirk was true most of the season, but they were sure good to people late in the year so we'll keep coming back. This year was really weird with 3 players averaging over 50 and only one other above 42 so almost everyone seemed unreliable.

1. Who was your MVP this year? Paul, both TSN and NBA. Not a differential pick but still I can't help but enjoy 50+ scores on a regular basis.

2. What was your "move of the season"? Hah, moving from San Francisco to Brisbane to Berlin. Messed up my Internet access and hence also part of my Hoops team ;-).

3. Who was your LVP this year? Aldridge. I know it sounds weird but I had him when he really sucked.

4. What was your biggest mistake of the season? Missing money trains. I always do that. I ended up with 69 Million RV, roughly 15 Million below the top teams.

5. Who got added to your "never again" list? J.R. Smith. His ups and downs are worse than Aldridge's.

6. Who is the most frustrating player to own that you know you will keep taking again and again? Tough one. Sometimes I think it's all of Denver's players. Used to be Camby. Now it's Hilario. Also, when ever I get Anthony or Smith they suck. Well, Billups was semi-reliable. Wouldn't be surprised if he falls under the same spell next season.

7. What was the most memorable "disaster" of your season? Buying J.R. Smith after he had a great game. The next game was a lousy 15 TSNP, the one after a DNP, then I sold. I think he followed that one up with a 50 game. So yeah...

8. Do you have an Art Junior nomination? (we need to bring this back) Hm, I'll just say Deadeyes for the heck of it. I actually miss that guy.

Congrats SU on the championship.
