Subject: 2/1 'Collison Injection' action (M4L TM)

Trade mark or copyright to Money 4 Later can't beat his suggestion for title in other thread. Problem in most moves for Collison is there might be TOO much money left over. Is anyone else considering a hold of LeBron in upcoming 3 game week? |

I haven't had LBJ in 3 weeks or so and it has been killing me. Having Wade and Paul have pretty much tied things up. Might grab him now though.

That 2 in 7 is gonna be real tough to hold through. Gonna have to be real trade-deficient not to get a game advantage there.

4 pts, a steal and a big 7 assists for Collison's first quarter.... did anybody NOT buy him today??

I didn't buy Collison (well, I did on a team that doesn't matter). I have one trade and a move I want to use it for tomorrow. I'm taking the chance that Tyreke will play Wednesday and if not I can get Collison too. You others may be enjoying Collison's performance so far and the big money swing between him and Tyreke today but Collison's rise to prominence in Ultimate and Paul's probably being finished for our purposes signals the point at which money doesn't matter very much. Does anybody with over say 70 million not have a lot of banked cash right now and no plans to use all of it?

And Miami is involved in yet another blowout. This time, they're on the receiving end and Wade's on the bench. ARGH!

I heard the Gasol brothers made a bet as to who would suck more tonight. Close race...

CBG, I think you may end up regretting not getting Collison. You are taking a pretty big risk banking on Tyreke playing his next game. The good thing is you can still get him on Wednesday when I get him. And while making money has become secondary we are not at the point where it is irrelevant yet.

I don't think RV ever becomes irrelevant, but if Paul is out for the year, it certainly levels the playing field a bit. One less stud to try and fit in.
Those just buying Collison tonight will likely have a lot of money lying around ( I know I do ), and maybe no immediate plans on using it, but I'm sure before to long there will be opportunity to spend it.

RV will still play a role for lower RV teams. I still could not squeeze in whom I wanted on a lower ranking team that bought Collison today. However, trades will become more important with the leveling of the playing field for top RV teams to differentiate, I suspect.

I agree on the RV is still important... If RV was not important, I think Brandon Jennings would be the guy to buy today, not Collison.

I still believe that RV has largely lost its importance for the people near the top. I think that someone can certainly win the championship with 4-5 million less than the top RV people.
I was already thinking that money would stop mattering the last quarter of the season because the money is so huge this year, but I think the Paul injury and the advent of the super-cheapie (Collison, Delfino) has sped up the point where you can have just as good a team as Senator Urine (to pick a perfectly random example) with quite a bit less coin (though oddly I have neither Collison nor Delfino right now).
Who are we going to spend our money on after the All-Star break? Let's look at the most expensive players: LeBron definitely. Wade's overall schedule is very weak after the break. Kobe and Dwight Howard have no more than couple week stretches. Bosh and Durant will probably be on every roster the last month of year, but guys like Carmelo and Dirk aren't much better than players who are much cheaper. And none of these players are so transcendently great that you HAVE to have them when their schedule is good other than LeBron. And of course as the season goes on some of these players will get hurt and be shut down.
I'm probably not going to win it because there are a bunch of great managers not too far behind me. But I think I CAN win with lower money. It looks like it will be a great race---I just hope I can stay in it.
Reeb, if Tyreke stays out I'm not too worried that my window to get Collison from him will hold up!

CBG,
I can agree with you in principle as I have won many a division with alot less money than some of my competitors and certainly the overall can be won the same way and this may be the year.
In your postion, if you can afford the top producing guys based on games and schedule you are right RV will make little difference as all the top RV guys will just have idle money in the bank chasing you and they will have to take the riskier route to catch up.

I'm probably not going to win because I seem to be a day or two late to all these major injuries... =/ I think this is the first time in the history of the game (after price dampening) where I have held a player through two consecutive 200K losses.

Blooki, I really thought holding Paul had a chance to work (he certainly didn't sound as badly hurt as he turned out to be and people would want him back right away) but Saturday I was more money conscious than I am now and couldn't stomach the anticipated dollar swing between Paul and Kobe.
twolves, good commentary. I'd like to think others are chasing me but my lead, much like Tyreke, is day-to-day.
I can guarantee that the player I buy tomorrow (Noah) will make a lot of money because I know Phatsow will buy him too and we might be the only two people who still have trades.

CBG, I had plans to buy Noah today also, but running out of trades certainly changed that. I still have my eye on him for Wed.
But I must admit, I've grown a little worried that: sore feet + dense schedule = possible random DNP's
Are you the slightest concerned?

19 Really......I can not believe he has to have surgery after sliding into a camera man. I mean get these cameras with foam around them or somethign get them the F out of there! If he gets injured on the court I am fine with it but this is ridiculous. Like when our military dies in a practice exercise rather than in battle. I can not believe Paul has to have surgery.....woudl Jordan be having surgery with same problem right now?

Pretty much agree with you CBG. The Paul injury combined with the emergence of Collison and Delfino (ironically both of whom I do have) has really neutralized FV. It may come into play at some point again, guys get cold and hot and injured (originally I was going to post this morning but I had to head out, and I was going to say "and you know Maggette will ultimately get injured," and sure enough...) but with the lack of true studs it's seemingly less important right now.
I don't know if it's just my imagination, but this year does it seem as if there are fewer true studs than ever? There's Lebron and Paul. That's it. Below them you pretty much have an army of 6 to 8 million dollar guys who compete with the traditional more expensive guys. There's no one out there aside from Lebron who I'd trust to get 40, and I know this definitely wasn't the case in past years.

I didn't play this year, but when I saw the injury I had visions of a crazy price gain for Collison. Is he a 500K guy? Cause he's producing far above that level so unless that schedule is horrific I'd imagine you all hopped on board the train.
