This is really cluttering up the injury thread! My right new hurts; It
made a "pop" when I was walking downhill about 3 months ago,
but I cannot go to the doctor.
I'm 44 yrs old....... The last time I went to the doctor I was 39..... He
told me EVERYTHING that he was going to start doing to me when I
turned 40 and I have not gone back!
Maybe we can Keep the Personal health discussion in a seperate
thread than the NBA injury Thread.

So no way Paul would want to or could play with this injury? Isn't this an area between the joints...not that serious?

I had a torn meniscus repaired 18 months ago, so far so good. But my knees are a mess ( arthritis )from surgeries 30+ years ago as a result of H.S. basketball injuries and have been told knee replacement is looming down the road. Back then arthroscopic surgery didn't exist.

I was given clearance to golf and bowl again after 4-6 weeks ( the extent of my athletic participation at my age ). It was winter so golf was out of the question, but I did resume bowling with much trepidation and some significant pain. That could have been the existing arthritis. But it slowly got better.

But if we are talking about Paul's return, that's a totally different matter. True, he's got to play a sport with significant demands on the knee. But keep in mind, these athletes are off the chart in terms of physical conditioning. It will be much easier for him to recover than the normal person.

And I have no clue as to how long that will be in his case.

So Dave you must be around 50? Have you ever tried Racquetball or other hand ball sports that can be played in the winter. You can get a good burn from that. And of course if the knee can take it yet...as it does have a lot of starting and stopping....just don't go playing young kids and keep it real with another guy or gal your age.

"This is really cluttering up the injury thread"

KI--really cluttering it up? There were 111 posts before I commented about my own surgery. You may want to re-read the post----it's number 112. That's where I also commented about Chris Paul. There was a purpose to it.

"Maybe we can Keep the Personal health discussion in a seperate thread than the NBA injury Thread."

There were 2 other posts about it----and one of them from RSF again had a Chris Paul tie in.

You may want to re-read those posts.

And if you really want, I will delete one post---post number 116.

Otherwise, maybe a new injury thread could be started.

One without TSN trading discussion cluttering it up---lol----post 33, and whoa---post 34.....

Now that we have an "aside" thread...

Funny thing about my surgury. The doctor who did it used to be on the staff that took care of the Lakers.

Me and Jordan Farmar are like brothers from another mother now, you know, sharing the same knee doc and all.

I did notice he's not jumping as high these days. It all makes sense.

I had a torn meniscus that flipped over so I could not straighten my knee. Also had torn ACL to go along with that. That was about 3-4 years ago. Surgery and 9 months rehab and as good as new. In the begining when playing sports it was in my mind but now play full contact no issues. Every once in a while knee does have some pain but nothing major.

when i turned 39, i decided it was time to lose weight. i shed 33 pounds in 2 months, and 45 total over 5 months.

Just as i was beginning to include strength training along with the cardio (right around that 5 months mark), i was doing the bench press (and not all that much weight), and tore my labrum and rotator cuff on my left shoulder.

Surgery was about 16 months ago. It's still not 100 percent, and i'm worried that the strength won't ever be completely there. :o/

Just watch you back KI......because someday, somewhere, you may find yourself surrounded by former torn meniscus recoverers with an attitude (FTMRWAA).

Yup, I'm the charter member.

Now for cluttering up threads.........WTF is Tree talking about??!?!! Lol.

Tree, take it slow. I know it's been 16 months, but patience is key. Stay with the right rehab and take it slow, and it will happen. Time is on your side (unless I missed the part about you training for a weight lifting competition).
