CBG, nice Carmelo pickup. Wish I had done the same now, really need Lopez not to suck tonight.

SU,

Lopez was so-so tonight, but Carmelo sucked so that probably works for you. I wound up with a 48 point trade and a 200K money swing (surprised Lopez didn't lose more). Still worth a trade if I can go the rest of the season without being tradeless at an inopportune time. Maybe a little early to make a trade like this, but Lopez seemed to be carrying a big "Sell Me" sign.

Oh yeah, definitely, I really, really, really wanted to sell him and that was my original plan but then Wade went down. The only two players who made sense to buy were Carmelo and Billups (already had Lebron and Rondo), and I've always had trouble trusting both. Figured it was especially risky with Denver facing Cleveland (defense) and Washington (blowout potential) and with NJ facing Toronto. In retrospect I wish I had done it, I just got scared off by Carmelo's two previous games.

The 50tsnp game of AK couple days ago was a curse. I planned to get Westbrook from him and his big game had me thinking otherwise. Not only Westbrook exploded and now AK's injured with 8tsnp. Awesome.

AK > WB, Evans > Lee

Sigh.

CBG i agree with you on the curry 4in5 being away and against good defense and i ran his numbers since the start of the new year and he has averaged 30 in his away games and 42 in home games...that is a huge difference.

But on the other hand also a couple reasons to get him

Maggette out and Ellis probably out for atleast the 2 first games. Also paul is looking to come back before NO's next 4 in 5. That means if we trade collison there is no neeed to get back into him, and I think for many teams collison > curry looks like the easiest way out before the bleed.

I have only .36 I'm not using so I can't trade Collison for anybody good like Curry. So I'll just take at least 4 more presumably great Collison games and if I lose a lot of money so be it. Way too late in the season to worry about money all the time. I'll probably be stuck trading Collison for a cheapie like Delfino or Jack no matter what. I could see moving Collison now if one has the extra cash, but it's important to remember that March 12 is just the day Paul is supposedly aiming for. It's not set in stone at all. Paul's return could be pushed back and I could get an extra 5 in 7 of Collison starting.

CBG,

We are in the same position so it looks like 3 Collison and a saved trade vs. 5 curry if both traded 3/9. The comparison could get better if holding both longer and no Paul return.

twolves,

Yesterday KI mentioned a Collison sell-off starting today and I thought, "Everyone go ahead and sell him." I never think about selling great cheapies because they have a 3 in 8 or a 4 in 10 and Collison is the greatest cheapie since I've been playing. Now that Paul's return is being talked about, though, it does sound realistic to trade Collison if you have extra money. We'll just have to hope that Collison's performance remains outstanding and that March 12 is overly optimistic for Paul's return date.

This late in the season, are you guys going to continue making trades on the earliest day possible? Durant > Deron (or Boozer) can be done Thursday, but you get the same 3 game advantage if you wait until Monday and Durant is a better, more durable player than the guys he trades into.

Already sticking with Collison, I think I'm holding Westbrook as well. Must have a thing about UCLA guards---I did watch almost every game they played in college. I would have to trade Westbrook for a guard and the best 3-game advantage I can find is S Jax, who would then go back for Westbrook. Probably not worth 2 trades with Westbrook turning into a superstar. Could possibly afford Westbrook > Iguodala on Tuesday.
Opinions?

Hey Reeb, I'm up 65.5 on Tyreke > Westbrook.

If for no other reason than to amuse reebbertxx I think I will buy Duncan (from Randolph) on Friday. The Spurs are the only team with 24 games left at that point so even if Duncan misses a game they'll still have as many as anybody. Even if he misses two games he's still a reasonable buy at only 8.09.

The Spurs still have lots to play for (possible home court advantage, avoiding the Lakers in the first round). This isn't like buying Marcus Camby where he'll probably get hurt and you have to move him---Duncan may miss a game or two but he'll be certain to play in the next one. The Spurs have played 10 sets of back-to-backs this year and Duncan has been rested only once.

Also, I don't see trades out of Randolph that I like at his possible sell points: I will get Boozer from J-Smoove. Anybody see another trade out of Randolph (it doesn't have to be Friday)?

I think I've made a good case for Duncan. Now somebody please try to talk me out of him.

CBG, I won't try and talk you out of anyone, I had looked at Duncan. But I assume you had seen this.

So whether it's one, two or more, it sure looks like Duncan will miss games at some point

Dave, actually I had not looked at Duncan's Rotoworld page lately but was planning to search for as much info as possible before buying. Definitely going to be re-weighing my options. What a drag that Duncan gets babied---without the rest DNP concerns he'd be bought Friday as widely as Rondo was on Tuesday.

CBG, I bet deejay would appreciate you buying Duncan for non GMD purposes.

Tyreke has 7 games to Westbrooks 5 before you were going to buy him anyways. I'm sure it will be a lot closer than 65 by then. Funny you mention how much you gained right before Tyrekes game advantage starts.

Duncan would be a differentiator among the top teams I am sure. It would not take too many DNP or resting minutes in b to b even if he plays both games to help everyone out behind you.

I know Tyreke has 7 to 5. I mentioned the 65.5 advantage because it looks like I can break even or better before the schedule turns in Westbrook's favor. Fun sparring with you, BTW.

Are people selling or holding Randolph tomorrow?

Zach stays.

I wouldn't call it sparring CBG, just discussion.

Regardless of the outcome I don't think it was a good move. There must have been a better way into Westbrook than Tyreke. Then again maybe not but because I never got him.

Anyways, best of luck down the stretch. Avoid Duncan if you know whats good for you. :)

When I made the trade my other guards were Rondo (with only a one-game advantage to be had at that point), Collison and Durant, so it was Tyreke or nobobdy. Probably a rash trade but I think that while Tyreke is going to be a superstar Westbrook may have already become one. Fun discussing with you!

Anyway, I have my new plan. On 3/14 Randolph for.......Bogut! I think I can raise enough money to go Collison > Curry whenever it is that Paul actually comes back. Paul's target date has gone from 3/12 to 3/14 to uncertain in just a few days. At this rate he'll be declared out for the year on Saturday.

With New Orleans as a long shot for the playoffs, if it were me I might think of just shutting down Paul for the year.

Well finally going to get Rondo today. Forgetting to trade Kidd to Rondo 3/2 has only cost me 9.5 TNSP but -590 cash--ouch.

Are you folks rushing back into LeBron? Oddly, I think his mediocre schedule might actually works in his favor. It could make him less likely to sit out any more games for rest.

Big debate for me right now is whether to move Josh to James after tomorrow or take the game advantage and use Zach to get there on 14. I need to make up trades on SU somehow so holding Josh seems the best way. Every decision is crucial right now even though in my head I know I'm playing for 2nd, or 4th depending how you look at it.

Anyone else think we should just start an end of the year strategy discussion thread? It seems GMD is just about wrapped up so it may generate a bit more interest if everyone can chime in when they feel like it.

If you hold Smoove, who would you trade Zach for? Before Zach's DNP I was going to trade him for a back-to-back of Iggy (yecch!) then get Smoove back. The same basic move could be done with David West. If you don't like the idea of a transitional back-to-back and Zach would eventually become Smoove then all trading Smoove for LeBron would get you would be a game for a game.

Whatever other people want to do about discussion threads is fine with me.

Late in the year I lower my standards for what a trade is worth because I usually have more trades than earlier in the year and I want to make sure I use them all for something half-way decent instead of being stuck with a surplus at the end. But late in the year even more DNP's tend to crop up so it's a fine line.

Zach for Lebron. Seems pretty perfect except I miss a Lebron game.
