0 Subject: 2/23 Rondo's Revenge Action

19.5 in 6 minutes as I write this. I'll bet all the Westbrook buyers are regretting it now!

Actually just bought Westbrook from Tyreke myself. Would have done it a day (and 250K ago) but too paranoid now to be tradeless on any day but Tuesday.

I may actually rooting harder for Westbrook than anybody now because I'm hoping to keep him for the rest of the season. Had Tyreke > Westbrook planned for 3/17 anyway so I figured I'd just do it now. There will come a point when I'm down a game (12 to 11) but Westbrook could outscore him in that span, Tyreke could easily get hurt before then and not having Westbrook now scares the s--- out of me.

With the Deron injury last night holding Rondo looks pretty good. However, it did cause a run to Westbrook. I was actually hoping to have Westbrook as a differentiator for a bit longer.

Hopefully it is not a "Revenge of Tyreke" tonight for you. It is difficult trading a player who is playing tonight.

Yeah, this was not the type of trade I normally like to make, where the schedule advantage isn't until way down the road. Sometimes in trading I give in to an emotional response: I would guess everyone playing does. I know SU was at least contemplating Tyreke > Westbrook. For me it was much easier psychologically because I didn't recently choose Tyreke over Westbrook: I'd owned Tyreke since way back on Jan. 5.

Camby made it all the way into his third game with Portland before getting hurt. Pretty good for him.

I'm gonna go way out on a limb and predict that Darren Collison will eventually be somebody's full-time starting PG.

One of my LEAST brightest moments - dropping Delfino (afraid of $$ loss) for Peja. I never learn...

This has got to be one of the best week or two weeks for widely held players. Studs playing like studs! If only I had Westbrook instead of Marc Gasol.

ps - Kevin Durant and the Thunder are some good damn players. Is KD the best scorer since Jordan? His streak suggests so. Poor seattle!

Thankfully that game is over qwert. I think we might be the only two without Westy at this point.

RE 9:

I was just thinking the same thing. Plus I noticed for my team that Boozer, Smith and Bogut played last night and went for 143. My other seven guys played tonight and went for 354.5. Taking the last game played for my 10 roster players and it is 2.5 pts shy of 500 TSN pts. Considering no Wade, Paul, Howard or Kobe and I can't recall the last time mid $6 - $10 guys + Lebron came even close to this type of production.

1, CBG I have to say that I'm almost shocked that you made that move today. You say Tyreke could easily get injured over that time frame but what if Westbrook gets hurt during that same span. You basically used a trade 3 weeks earlier than needed only to lose a game for a very similar player.

I still view Tyreke as a very viable option after his 2 day gap.

More an emotional trade than a logical one, definitely. I got caught up in how awesome Westbrook's last two games were and felt I had to have him. I can spin it, however. Westbrook was averaging 50.4 over his last 8 games and the Thunder's schedule is filled with teams that give up a lot of points: Minnesota, Toronto, Sacramento twice, Denver. Only 2 of the Thunder's next 11 opponents are in the upper half defensively.

I knew the #1 person wouldn't have Westbrook so if he continues to go crazy it helps me gain on him (you). Several of the people who can pass me have Westbrook so I wanted to neutralize them. And Tyreke has already been identified as an injury risk while Westbrook has never missed a game as a pro.

I certainly might be flushing away some points but as knee-jerk trades go I think this one has some thought behind it.

The same reason you got westbrook is same reason I didn't get him, by division competition has him and is up on points on me so I am trying to differeniate my team to gain ground while I notice he has been trading to make it the same.

When it came down to it I just couldn't get myself to get westbrook because I don't see any good schedule links for OKC in 2 weeks. And since everyone has Durant thats already one headache to link I didn't want two. Of course if you are planning on holding through the 4 in 11 you don't have to worry about that. Going to be some heavy money losses though.

Matic, at some point very soon you need to forget $$$. Yeah it feels great earning money every night but at some point it becomes detrimental to the point of the game especially if you are in a battle for a league or wwr prize. When Durant or Westbrook come up on their 4 in a 11 managers will have a decision to make if they can gain points by swapping in and out of them. Making money at that point in the season should be dam near irrelevant.

Cbg, that was pretty great logic for an illogical trade. Blocking is very much a factor at this point of the season especially when it is differential to the guy in front of you(though I didn't have Tyreke either).

Westbrook may prove to be differentiator later when trying to decide whether to get out or hold. It will take only one bad game if holding in 3 game week but if he goes off during the week may well score more than any player you could buy.

To me, it's getting awfully late to care much about money, especially with the advent of Andray Blatche. I think you'll see that most top players will keep Durant unless there's some 3 game advantage of another superstar I haven't noticed yet. Not sure if Westbrook will be widely held too but the Thunder have the best schedule the last month so I'll live with the gap unless I'm loaded with trades because of no injuries (not likely).

wonder if marcus thornton's emergence as a prolific scorer will dampen collison's recent skyhigh performance. Atleast it will keep his assists high, imagine being able to hold two 1 million players from the same team that can average 35+ tsnp (least til paul is back.)

and yea ....darn kings =( hope tyreke even plays in the fourth.

Tyreke kept the somewhat Kings in the game in the fourth with a nice 20+tsnp finish

heh it really should have been Tyreke's revenge thread

CBG you must be kickin yourself, but atleast you can enjoy a 200k price swing

if you take tyreke's game today and add it in with the 2 stinker's he actually still beats his season average.

Hopefully tonight's game will keep those with itchy fingers to just hold him through the next two days and stop the bleeding.

Thornton was doing this before the ASB but had a bad fall on his back and sat out till after the break. He scores and Collison dishes it out. There will be off nights for each like the past will show. Expect alot of the same

CBG - I've been focused on continuing to build my RV, but am I high enough at this point (73.59)? I kind of set a goal of 75 mil, but maybe I'm going a little overboard?

Rv means less and less as we get closer to april, your RV is around where my highest is and I still try to make moves based on RV just to keep ahead in my division (I hate not having the most RV in my division) but I think from here on out I'm going to switch to just points minded when trading. (no more trading out early for a less producing player because of money loss scares.)

I think also that since we have stud performance players emerge like collison / Blatche and an abundance of consistently good mid price players Gasol/Evans/Curry and Noah/Love pre-injury
it really shortens the $$$ advantage gap. I'm not sure if it was like this every season but this season seems not to favor those took the "build RV first" route as much.

oh and you will definitely reach 75 million, probably next week or so just by doing the normal trades you would be doing anyway, so I don't think you have to worry about reaching your goal

I think all those that have 70+ now will most likely have 80 by seasons end.

If by "enough" you mean can you put together a roster as good as anyone's you don't. I have a couple of teams that are close to yours in money and I do have to make sacrifices compared to the top people. A big money team may have Dwight Howard where I have Marc Gasol. Or a 35-40 TSNP player where you have Peja. Maybe the last few weeks you can have pretty much whoever you want. Some people are probably at that point now. Those people are liable to have a lot of money in the bank the last few weeks.

At this point in the season there's not too much you can do about your RV standing. You (and I) are good but not great and we'll be that way at the end too. As an attentive manager you'll continue making money whether you're trying hard to or not.

The real point about money to me is that there's just not enough time to spend what you make anymore. A few hundred thousand here and there isn't likely to affect the quality of who you have on your team. Early in the season I would have jumped on Blatche but now I'm just going to get him when he fits, even if he's already made a lot of money. I will still be able to afford him even if I wait a week.
