In case you didn't know....

A Message from the Sporting News President

Due to a shift in our core business strategy, SportingNews.com will no longer offer new fantasy games going forward (excluding Strat-O-Matic). The fantasy industry is changing, and we feel it's best to devote our resources to providing the best fantasy content and advice on the internet, and beyond. We believe SportingNews.com's fantasy content, tools and advice are already best in class, and over the next few months, we will completely redesign the Fantasy Source section of our site to deliver a new and improved user experience. With this shift in strategy, we will dedicate our entire fantasy staff to building Fantasy Source into the number one destination for fantasy information, accessible via internet, mobile devices, and other new technologies.

The SportingNews.com fantasy staff shares and understands the disappointment that comes with this decision. We realize that the Sporting News community of fantasy players is extremely competitive and appreciate that many of our members have been asking about our fantasy baseball games and delaying their leagues, waiting for our launch. In an effort to show our appreciation to you, our loyal customer, we have partnered with CBSSports.com to allow you to create a Baseball Commissioner League, at a 50% discount, during the 2010 season. Simply click here to sign up. You must use this link to receive your discounted league, a $89.99 value.

Please be assured that this decision was not taken lightly and we truly believe this is the beginning of great things for us in the fantasy content environment. If you haven't already, we hope you will check out Fantasy Source. We will continue to provide fantasy players with the same great content and add many new and improved features.

Finally, for those of you with outstanding site credits, we are in the process of setting up a way for you to convert those into other Sporting News products or cash. Please make sure you have a current working email address on file as we will be contacting you shortly. If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach us at fantasygames@sportingnews.com.

Sincerely,
Jeff Price
President/Publisher

...although if baseball is any indication, RotoHog will offer the identical game next year.

They are currently offering a clone of the TSN salary cap baseball game.

Gerald Wallace suffered a left ankle injury when he was given a hard foul by Baron Davis on Wednesday.
Davis was given a flagrant on the play, and replays made the injury look fairly serious. Hopefully he can return to play through it in the second half, but he is listed as questionable.

It's amazing, right before I saw that I was about to post "I guarantee you he doesn't finish over 40 and gets injured."

Just have to laugh it off I guess, it really is funny. I want to have fun with the end of this season considering it's looking to be the last.

I agree SU. I'm having fun just trying to make you work for it. I was laughing off not getting Lebron when he had 22 after the 1st. Sometimes there is nothing you can do.

I was going to say, "What, no 'Return of the King' Action Thread" but the apparent death of Ultimate trumps that. I'll really miss the great competiton with intelligent people. I have so much respect for the regular users of this board.

Weird night with F-ing Iggy getting off (sold him), Wade blowing (don't have him) and Wallace's night suddenly turning from dream to nightmare (have him twice, fortunately not on my best team). I still consider SU in the driver's seat since he will have a trade advantage even if he has to burn one on Crash, but the race is amazingly close. I'm nowhere near the top of the mountain anymore, but I'm glad there's a year where I can at least see the top from where I am.

SU is in the drivers seat, the passenger seat, and the back seat all at the same time. Just stay away from my 2nd place money spot. :)

I'm going to have trouble staying in the Top 5 with Deejay, Blooki and Phatsow breathing down my neck. My real goal is actually just to finish ahead of Dave R. There are only 2 vets I've never finished ahead of: SU (apparently never going to happen) and Dave.

But why really care about Ultimate when I had Will Bynum and his 20 assists in my D & T league?

This is truly one of the worst news I've ever heard in my life. Now how can I kill countless office hours in half the year every year? I guess it could do wonders for my career but at this moment I could care less. I just want this game back.

I'm willing to pay more for its revival somewhere and couldn't care less if there were no prizes.

That notice from Sporting New is very disappointing. I play these games to challenge myself and to chat with others in the games. I don't really play to win big money, but the credits are nice to pay for the next game. I don't thoroughly enjoy draft & trade games nearly as much, but maybe I'll have to change my focus.

It looks as though this game will live on like the Ultimate baseball has become premier baseball at rotohog
Just not much money to win

It looks like Fanball has a salary cap game with large prizes. Why no interest in that? Is it because they have static player pricing?
