I miss his comments. Though CBG fills in nicely. Take it as a compliment ;-)

Oh, and in case anyone wants to get Taj Gibson... don't do it. I spare you the reason.

Enjoy tonight's games.

Ole, glad you like my contributions, though I don't think I'm anything like Deadeyes. Deadeyes basically just wanted to provoke people---I didn't mind it and thought he was occasionally funny but I know a lot of people are glad he's not around anymore. I have complete respect for the members of this community---Deadeyes, who knows what he was thinking.

I consider myself more of a poor man's Senator Urine, somewhat less obsessively neurotic about the game and not quite as good at it, with my own odd barbed comments thrown in.

I liked deadeyes for the most part. He at least played the game pretty well and added a bit of personality even if it was over the top sometimes. Better than the current bunch at TSN anyways.

I stopped even looking at the TSN board because it was all Basic players for the most part having pissing matches. It was better when Deadeyes was dominating the board just being a nut.

BTW, "Deadeyes" might be the best moniker ever because of the multiple ways you can interpret it.

Haha, I'm honored that anyone is calling himself the poor man's version of me. I'm jealous of your lower amount of neuroticism, I bought Rose at 7:58 and my heart still hasn't stopped pounding. TSN probably just added years to my life by discontinuing this game.

Reeb, I could have sworn you were going to buy Rose. Now I guess I have two other players to be nervous about.

I also miss Florian. What happened? He used to be so active on the boards. Not that I am a regular here but i try my best (the German time zone doesn't really match the NBA game time much).

Oh, and on a different note, I just saw that SU has 8 trades left. Holy crap, never noticed that before. Am I right in saying "congrats on winning (again) SU"?

Actually. let's make it a bit more exciting towards the end. Let me manage your team SU. I might be able to ruin your teams ;-)

Haha, I'll ruin them myself going into panic mode. I've historically had a lot of trouble the last few weeks of the season, probably due to a combination of burnout, reacting to surprise DNPs with limited time, and the additional factor of playing against someone rather than just playing the numbers. I've already made two moves in the past couple weeks that I regret that were based in reacting to what I thought Reebs was going to do. I still think he's the favorite to win.

Taj going off for Ole and my D & T team, where I'm using him only because Bogut was out yesterday. That's what's great about Yahoo D & T---if someone misses a game you can always make it up with another player even on a different day.

8 trades vs. 1 trade. you would indeed need to have my "skills" to not win it. i just find it fascinating that you had the patience to save up 8 trades. i think i never had that many the whole season. hah.

Blatche actually with a pretty ugly line (8-22 FG, 4-8 FT). He hasn't played that great for weeks but he can still put up decent TSNP because he gets so many minutes and shots. This is the LAST guy who should have a problem with his coach.

It's strange, I played basically the whole season being trade strapped until the ASB. I think I just got tired of it and became too afraid to trade guys like Rondo and Smith (and Lee...) who could easily double anyone else's game on any given night.

I'm still not sure how I'm going to use all of them. I may need some injuries of convenience.

It would be really nice if New Jersey kept this game close, and even nicer if it were through the heroics of one Brook Lopez.

SU, I always indulge myself in some 2 trades for a back-to-back at this time of year. Pau was great, but Dirk was horrible and now I'm pretty strapped for trades. There's a tricky balance between risking running out of trades and risking having extra trades the last week and nothing good to do with them. I don't know if I've chosen the best strategy, but at least when I get 2 Dirk games for 0 LeBrons, LeBron can't possibly outscore him.

Anyone else watch Kentucky go down in spite of having 2 Top 5 draft picks? West Virginia didn't have a single two point basket in the first half. Even though he shot poorly, I could tell why there's such a fuss about John Wall. He looks like a bigger Chris Paul: his overdrive has overdrive.

Yeah, I'd much rather it have been for a straight up back to back, but there's a strange lack of opportunities to do that the rest of the year it seems. I should have done it with Gasol a couple weeks ago but I thought it might be too early. Only made the move on one team at least, and I guess the jury's still out, I might not be able to get better use out of those trades.

I remember last year on my team with all the trades I picked up a bunch of games the last day, but then I got stuck having players I didn't want the last night. That team strangely ended up getting passed.

The only place that I'm the favorite is in SU's mind. :)

I don't trust Rose at all so here comes Monta. He could very well blow up in my face but I felt he was the type of differential guy I needed.

Luckily on the team where I bought Rose getting Monta now wouldn't have made sense I guess. For your team I like that move a lot, both from a points factor and the intangible factor of terrifying me. I don't trust Rose either but I really liked the matchups and had a feeling, and figured I had to take the chance with the lack of trade opportunities. He actually didn't play poorly, the blowout ruined him tonight, blah.

Deadeyes was easily the most entertaining provocateur ever on these boards. He was as tough as nails. He could take an insult and never blink. His racial crap wasn't amusing. I assumed that after he teamed with Cancermoon he got a new seat for his bike and joined her in New Zealand. Last fall, out of nowhere, there was one post on the TSN board under Cancermoon's user name. It basically just said hello and that was it. He previously used her name when they teamed up but he had many different names like the porn star and others. It never took long to smell him out. The most interesting event was on the baseball board when he was playing sandlot ball in the Boston area and he would say what he did and someone checked local boxscores for a few days and identified him and posted his team's picture that gave his real name. TSN stopped allowing photos after that.

Glenn, thanks for the Deadeyes story.

I must be out of the loop because I don't even know who trades into Rose or Monta today. Rondo? Smoove? Very risky guys to move. David Lee, then get him back Monday?

Yeah, sold Rondo on one, it was probably stupid. I figured I had to take the gamble since I'm running out of trade opportunities, and I imagined the nightmare scenario of Reeb taking him and getting three 50's out of him while Rondo pulled one of his disappearing games. I really, really liked the Rose matchups.

CBG, who will be your 4 guards a week from now? No matter what I will need a 4th guard sometime soon and Monta is the best of the bunch if he remains healthy. I gave up Smith even though I didn't like it.

I'm so glad I finally have 3 different teams to worry about.

Yeah, and Detroit hasn't exactly been stifling teams this year either, there's still hope it won't be a complete disaster I guess. It's weird though, at this point I actually have to hope the trade doesn't pay off for me, a big game from Rondo would be the best thing for me.

Man, you have no idea how tempted I was to buy Monta, I just ran some quick numbers and figured I could justify it. But I honestly wasn't even considering him tonight (probably an oversight), I wouldn't have felt right doing that. (And knowing my luck it probably would have turned out you got Curry as a clever trick and Monta would have blown out his knee in the first ten minutes.)

Needless to say, I will not be checking the box score for this game.

Two and a half more weeks...

Good luck guys.

#16 - i remember an incident where getting a player who scored a negative tsnp. so there actually are situations where having a player with 0 games can be an advantage.

*thinks*

actually, i think it was me getting dunleavy once who had a -2.5 and a dnp next. awsome.

Thanks SU. :) When I posted that I actually thought you had Rose on all teams. Once I realized I had tipped my hand I was fearing you would grab him with your CB team. It was 50-50 between Monta and Curry but I took a chance that Monta will play out the year. I will probably regret that decision just like every other 50-50 decision the last few weeks. Moving Rondo over Josh 4 days ago comes to mind as a worst case scenario.

Haha, I would have felt awful. A lot of the fun of this game has become all of the talking with everyone over the season, whether it's discussing strategies or just everyone joking around with each other after all of the nightmare performances we have to suffer through. It would suck considerably more if we all felt we had to really close down on discussion.

I kinda figured you wouldn't do that. I know you have a plan that you think is best so I figured you would stick to it.

I agree, the discussion here is what makes this game fun for me. Without the back and forth I would have considerably less interest.

As for Monta I am super lucky that he plays for the one coach in the league who could care less if he fouls out in the 2nd quarter. Dwight wouldn't get back in til the 2nd half if it were him.

Anyways best of luck to you and everyone else down the stretch.

Flattered that you would ask. I'm hoping my guards will be Durant, Westbrook, Rondo and either Curry or Monta.

Wow, this action thread just died at some point, long before Monta wound up having a crummy game and being declared out tomorrow. I would assume he'll back on Wednesday and isn't a sell but this has a major impact on the race.
