After telling us repeatedly that LeBron would play tonight to be "fair" to Toronto, he's outta the lineup. Mike Brown's credibility = 0 ! |

Actually, I think after the injuries to Bosh and Turkey Glue, Brown figures he is being fair to Toronto by evening up the race.

Cleveland probably wants to play Chicago rather than toronto? That is a tough one for Toronto.

I came very close to missing the news---got home 8 minutes before game time. When I left work LeBron was still allegedly going to play. Hopefully Pau will turn out to be a better LeBron replacement than Wade (didn't have the flex for Wade anyway).

That sucks. The team right behind doesn't have him so I thought I would have a good chance to increase my league lead. Damnit!

Do we generally believe in Gasol? The Lakers have nothing real to play for, I'm not sure yet what makes me more nervous - the idea of having him or not having him. There are seemingly no reports out on the Lakers.

I was so close to picking up Gasol, but the Lakers can clinch home court tonight and I'm thinking they'll rest Kobe and Gasol as much as possible. I also thought Lebron would play tonight too...lol

Every year the Cleveland coaching staff does this to us. Every year.

SU If the Cleve coaching staff does this EVERY year are they really doing it to US? If we hung on to LeBron after reading that he would sit 2 of the last 4... Did the ones who still have LBJ not do this to yourselves?

If you want to believe this, the Lakers are still in a push for home court advantage, in the event of a finals match up vs. Orlando

Haha yeah, it's just with a player like Lebron you have to believe he's going to play if the news of the day is that he's playing. This time we had concrete news he was in (and for the specific reason of being fair to Toronto, and if I recall it was announced during the games last night before the Denver one but I could be wrong about that). I think it was a valid assumption. And he still might destroy us tomorrow. This one I'm not too angry about since there's nothing we could really do, we got blindsided.

Rotoworld did report that LeBron was expected to play today before the late games yesterday, but what do you care SU? You're far enough ahead now that you could win it keeping LeBron until the end of the season and having him not play at all.
Phil Jackson historically plays his starters late in the season so Pau's as good a bet as anyone on a playoff team with little to play for.
Do yesterday's Wade buyers think the Heat will be going all out the last couple games because they care whether their playoff opponent is the Celtics or the Hawks?

SU is so competitive that he has bets against himself on which team will win. He has to do something to keep himself interested after our complete failures. :)

I am not sure the Heat care who they play but they are playing well and on a good roll, so I think they will not want to break the momentum they have established. I think they will try to go all out to win the next few games. They certainly do not want to fall into a tie with Charlotte.

Wonder if Lebron will play tomorrow. Game-time decision... My first thought is to pick up Wade, but who knows how much he'll play.

Kobe's not in the lineup. News: Phil Jackson said Thursday that he wouldn't rule out resting anybody, including Kobe Bryant, in preparation for the playoffs. Impact: This is kind of a non-update update, but it's the first we've heard of the potential for guys resting games. Hopefully guys can last until after this weekend's games for fantasy purposes, but it's a situation that bears monitoring with the Lakers having no playoff seeding of their own to fight for.

This beats all: when I had to trade LeBron for Gasol instead of my planned Ginobili I didn't stop to think that Ginobili > Rose would be a good trade. Anxious to get rid of Ginobili, I checked the Laker-Denver lineup 5 minutes before game time, saw Kobe in it and bought him. I wasn't on line between 6:30 and 7:25 PST----was the news that Kobe wasn't playing out there long before I made this monumental f--- up?

This end of season resting guys has gotten way out of hand---the NBA should have 4 or 5 days off between the regular season and the playoffs instead of only 2.
It didn't used to be like this. I can't remember guys getting rest days with a week to go in the season, though the T-Wolves shut down Garnett a couple of times when they were out of the playoffs. Before 2006 hardly anyone even sat out the last game of the season---there would be maybe one or two major DNP's but almost every superstar got in 25-30 minutes. It all changed in 2006, which happened to be the year when the Clippers and Grizzlies were both trying to lose on purpose to get a better playoff match-up so they sat out Brand and Gasol.

I actually traded Rondo for Noah today because of the resting crap. My roster's pretty much full of "not in the playoff hunt" guys.

Wow, you got stuck with LeBron---at least someone is as miserable as I am. We should drown our sorrows together---L.A. and Sac-town aren't THAT far. Hopefully Kobe will play tomorrow and I'll have wasted only one trade instead of two and for your sake I hope LeBron plays too.

Haha, #12,13 - I still don't think I have this locked up yet. I've come up with all these realistic scenarios where you and Blooki pass me. And never underestimate my ability to make a panic trade due to a last minute DNP.
But you're not entirely inaccurate, I haven't fully grasped the multiple team concept. If I take Player A on one team and Player B on another, and Player B beats Player A then in my mind I just threw away a team. It's completely illogical as that's the whole point.
That really sucks about Kobe CBG. I don't think you can really second guess too much, the news came out right before game time, probably as you were making the trade. I agree with you that the resting is getting out of hand. It would be great if the league found a way to provide an incentive for playing through.

CBG - saw this in Kobe's player profile this morning: News: Coach Phil Jackson said Thursday that he doesn't anticipate Kobe Bryant playing in Friday's game against the Timberwolves, but that it would ultimately be his decision.

Re: 24
By "realistic scenarios" SU means the ones where he's caught mid-trade with 3 invalid rosters and power is wiped out on the entire Eastern seaboard of the U.S. (Note: TSN runs on its backup generators) after which he subsequently tries to drive to his aunt's in Chicago to make the trade only to be abducted by aliens en route. This is why he needs to build a 1000 SNP cushion before he can rest easy at night.
