While thinking about the impending arrival of John Wall to New Jersey or Minnesota or Sacramento, isn't there a better system the NBA could use instead of the dreaded ping pong balls? |

Re: the OP -- I'd love to see one of the old XFL-style coin flips. Just get all the GMs in a room, set up the pick, and let 'em go.

Guess Wizards will take Wall and probably try to trade Arenas; Sixers can take Turner and the Nets can get either Favors or Cousins

Alright, I suppose Wall is a lock for the Wizards. Can we really say the same for Evan Turner going to Philly? I think so.
Favors will probably go to NJ; and Wesley Johnson seems like a lock to Minny. I guess Cousins will go to the Kings and Greg Monroe to G.S. That's how I see the first six selections.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Kings trade down. The Kings have needs, but Cousins isn't the cure-all they're looking for. Monroe to the Warriors makes sense and fills their need for someone who can rebound.

Lots of reported movement out there:
Chris Douglas-Roberts to MIL for 2012 2nd Rounder
Corey Maggette and 2010 2nd Rounder to MIL for Charlie Bell and Dan Gadzuric
Couple of nice moves for MIL. Will be interesting to see how CDR and Maggs do for Skiles. I can see Scotty blowing a gasket on both of them pretty quickly.
I'm not buying any of the CP3 talk. You just don't deal studs who are locked up.

Man...Hinrich and 17th pick reportedly dealt to Wizards for...well, I'm not sure. Air at this point. More cap clearing for Chicago.
When Free Agency is all said and done, there are going to be some major teams that get hosed...Its gonna be fun!

Hinrich and 17th pick for a 2nd rounder next year? WTF Won't it be hilarious if they don't get one Max-Level guy.

My thought is they have some kind of private commitment from at least one FA or they wouldn't do that. Although to lose Hinrich's contract is a bad thing.
It also puts them in a position to go after big contract like David West in NO. Teams over the luxury tax would happily move players with big contracts for nothing to save cash.

Yeah, losing Hinrich isn't a huge thing to me. His production is fairly easily replaced.
I doubt Chicago gets shutout of a big name, but just how big of a name will it be? They have too many young, quality parts, unlike the other teams with cap space.

The Bulls, IMO, have the best situation for potential FAs. They have Rose and Noah and if they land a PF and a slasher they have really made themselves a contender.
Rose, Lebron, Bosh, Noah, and a guy with 2 legs contends in the east. If they still have Deng that's a solid lineup.
On the other hand, what exactly does Miami have. Let's say they manage to keep Wade and sign 2 other FAs. That gives them 6 guys on their roster. 6. How do they fill that roster and win games. Or do those 6 play every minute?
Btw, The Blazers are reverting to their loser ways by firing Pritchard and hour before the draft.

I think D'Antoni showed you only need to play about 4 1/2 guys to make it through a full season...ok his rotation went 8 deep...
And damn...i was hoping Cousins would slide to GS.

Aldrich and Mo Pepes to the Zombie Sonics for 2 first rounders. All about the cap. Cole is an interesting pick, although I wonder what happens with Serge Ibaka now.

Lots of great drafting teams now. Dork Elvis in Houston, Presti for the Zombie Sonics, the San Antonio machine (kinda like the Miami Sound Machine??).
Can't wait to see where Kevin Pritchard lands, but he won't be playing with Paul Allan's billions.

Pritchard did some excellent things. Took some risks. Tough deal with OdenBowie. Having Roy made the Durant pick a tough one, but maybe they could have played together. Let Roy play PG.

Having Roy made the Durant pick a tough one, but maybe they could have played together. Let Roy play PG.
This retelling of history just doesn't make sense. Durant is a three and B Roy can play either guard position.
The Blazers had Zack Randolf, B Roy and La Marcus Aldridge. Add Durant to those three and you are talking multiple NBA championships. Hell, Durant, Roy and Aldridge is just a shade away from Jordan, Pippen and Ho Grant. Instead, Pritchard trades away Zack for Channing Frye, who blooms only after he leaves Portland, in order to free up the space for Oden.
Here's the part that everyone seems to ignore - Pritchard has said that the franchise was well aware that Oden was going to need micro fracture surgery, but that didn't change their minds! Mind blowing! People seem to forget just how amazing Durant was his one year in Austin, he was a scoring savant!
I think that Pritchard is a top 5 NBA mind, but I also agree that he has to go. Wherever he ends up, he will improve that team tremendously, but he has to leave Portland because he crapped the bed and that's simply too embarrassing, that's all anyone can think about here, it's time for a new start for all sides.

Whoa, I didn't know Pritchard admitted that about the surgery. Mind blowing would be a perfect way to describe that.
Hey, my barber will testify that I said Durant would be a waaaayyyy better pro than Oden.
I still think it was a "tough" pick, though I would gave gone Durant. And, "maybe" they could have played together, you are in agreement on that.
So how come "This retelling of history just doesn't make sense?" Is it that much different?
And BTW, ZBO for Frye was just nuts. Plain and simple.

For some reason Pritchard's admission was confined to the Portland media market.
I'm saying that Roy and Durant would certainly play together, and quite well.
And I wasn't harping just on you, Mike D, everyone has bought the "you had to go with Oden" myth. It may have looked like a tough choice with our limited intelligence at the time, but knowing what we know now, it was not. Seven foot tall 18 years old with genetically bad knees are not picked in front of 18 year old spiders who can drop 30 points a night, even if he could not bench press 185 pounds at the combine!
