West Starters Kevin Durant Carmelo Anthony Kobe Bryant Chris Paul Yao Ming (Injured)
Reserves Tim Duncan Pau Gasol Blake Griffin Manu Ginobili Dirk Nowitzki Russell Westbrook Deron Williams
East Starters LeBron James Amare Stoudemire Dwyane Wade Derrick Rose Dwight Howard
Reserves Ray Allen Chris Bosh Kevin Garnett Al Horford Joe Johnson Paul Pierce Rajon Rondo
Do you like the picks? Who should replace Yao Ming?
I'm a little surprised Tim Duncan made it this year. I know the Spurs only have two representatives and they have the #1 record in the NBA, but in my mind others were more deserving this year. He seems to have lost a step on defense. It is hard for me to imagine him an all-star and Steve Nash not an all-star. Lamar Odom is pretty freakin' good, has never been an all-star, and got overlooked again. I'm glad Blake Griffin got in because he is carrying his team in addition to being the new 'half-man, half-amazing.' Doing it as a rookie is just ridiculous.
I can't really complain too much about the East picks, but I do wonder if we really needed four Celtics or if Joe Johnson really is the best pick. Nothing against him, but if I had to pick him or Granger, I'd take Granger, and I'm not even sure Granger deserved to make it this year. |

No way TD should have made it. Over Love? Randolph? Maybe even Aldridge? No way.
Hard to believe Monta Ellis couldn't squeeze out Ginobili/Westbrook. They are all worthy, but still.
Thought Bogut might beat out KG.
The West picks were so much deeper and tougher than the East. Wow.

Ginobili is having a career year and is the leading scorer on the team with the best record so he's probably a lock. Probably Parker deserved it more than Duncan but IDK. He must have qualified at C so he got the C votes. Strangely, C was not as deep in the West as in the East, but I think everything else was deeper in the West. With as few good Centers as there are these days, that seems to be the position that someone sneaks in from time to time that folks wonder about. I think Jamaal Magloire made it one year in the East because there were no better options. Ilgauskus went once, right? Last year?
No love for Billups anymore it seems. Hopefully Popovich doesn't overplay TD in the game but he probably will. I want to see Griffin dunk on Lebron and the whole east team except Howard.
I guess you look at Westbrook's numbers and OKC's record and that seems to give him the edge over Monta and the GSW.

Wow. According to this, TD is just listed as a forward and still beat out Love, Aldridge, Odom, etc. And no other West centers besides Yao were selected, even with the mandatory vote for a C. Weird. Was thinking Bynum might get some love but he didn't contribute enough or consistently enough yet after his injury apparently.

Why would Popovich overplay TD? he barely plays him in games that count, why would he push him in one that doesn't?

I think Love will be picked as Ming's replacement.
The West had far too many forwards to pick from.

B/c coaches tend to play their own guys more in all-star games....not 30 min. or anything crazy but maybe more like 20 min. instead of the 12 that he probably deserves. I want to see the highlight guys play.
