0 Subject: Fantazzle offers free & $20 salary cap hoops games

Since the demise of Rotohog, many of us have been unsuccessfully looking for a salary cap game to play this hoops season. After some research, I found a site called Fantazzle that offers salary cap games. After some discussion with them, they have agreed to redesign their season long salary cap basketball game to hopefully appeal to the former TSN customers

Fantazzle has put up two new salary cap games on their site: a free game and a $20 game with prizes. In the $20 game there will be a maximum of 10 teams per league, with prizes per 10 team league that seem quite generous: 1st place gets $85, 2nd place gets $51, and 3rd place gets $34. Also if you buy multiple teams, they will not put more than one of your teams in the same league as long as there are enough entries to enable that.

The main difference between Fantazzle and TSN is that their system uses weekly roster and price changes, rather than the daily changes we were used to with TSN.

You can go to the site and sign up. There is no financial commitment in signing up. Go to the free game and hit "play". You can put together a free team to see how the game works (it's the same as the $20 game in every way except it doesn't have the prizes that the $20 game does). If you like the game and want a chance to win some prizes, you can the sign up for the $20 game.

Further, if you like the game and have the email addresses of other Gurupies from old GMD teams, etc, let them know about this if you want to.

One last point. I want to emphasize that I'm not making a dime from Fantazzle. I'm just doing this so that we all have a salary cap game to play this season.

Here's a link to the Fantazzle site.

Here are the game details which Fantazzle sent me:

• Lineups are changed once a week. Unlimited trades which they call pickups can be made each week.
• The game will start on Monday, December 26. There are no limits to lineup changes until the roster freeze which begins 5 minutes before the start of the first game played each Monday.
• You must stay within the $1 million budget when selecting your lineup for the first week.
• There are 10 spots to fill: 2 C | 3 G | 3 F | 2 Utility. Scoring is as follows:
• Points: 1 point each (ex - FGs are 2 pts, FTs are 1 pt, and 3 pointers are 3 pts.)
• Rebounds: 1 point ( for both offensive and defensive rebounds)
• Assists: 1 point
• Steals: 2 points
• Blocked Shots: 2 points
• Each week salaries are adjusted on Wednesday, based on each player's performance the previous week. New lineups for the following week can begin to be submitted immediately after the price change. There are no limits to the changes that can be made to the following week's lineup prior to the next Monday's roster freeze. Changes will have no effect on the current week's lineup.
• The game player pool has a large majority of the entire NBA player pool, however some players are left out to prevent confusion. If a player not in the pool begins to get significant minutes, he will be added to the pool.
• Prizes are awarded at the conclusion of the contest, when all NBA regular season games have concluded.
• When you modify your lineup, changes (both up and down) in player salaries will be reflected in your overall roster value.

Special to the $20 game:
• $20 entry fee per team with a maximum of 10 teams per league.
• If you purchase more than one team, we will try to place only one of your teams in any single league. If entries do not match up with league size, we may have to place more than one of your teams in a league.
• If we do not get the correct number of players to fill an even amount of leagues, 1-3 leagues may be adjusted in size to create the best possible game play for the most amount of players.

Thanks for looking into this. I was just thinking about hoops and if Rotohog or someone else was offering a salary cap game this year. I'd play if we can get a fair number of people to sign up. It would be a long winter without my usual hoops fix.

Sweeeeeeeeeet! Yahoo and ESPN games or ok and all but nothing compares to the smallworld/TSN/RH game. I recall Smallworld used to have updates weekly way back in the day so maybe this can evolve too.

Thanks to Dunkenstein for advising about Fantazzle. I signed up initially for the free game, set my roster for week one, and made no changes for week two. However it seems that my two utility players went away for week two, and I played shorthanded. I have reset my roster for week three, but am wondering why I lost the two utility players for week two. Maybe the salary changes put me over the limit? One other thing, I cant find an overall league standings, just a rank for each week. Am I missing something? Cant see how to track my overall performance, dont expect to finish very high, just biding time until Baseball season, but would like to see an overall standing combining all the weeks as the season progresses.
Did buy one football playoff team for wildcard week end, and surprised to win a three person contest. I chose the wildcard weekend game because the playoff long games confused me. It seemed to say that it was season long, but then said if you don t win the first week, try again in the next weeks. So, I opted for the game that was for me clearly just the wild card weekend.
One question, in general, when I made the deposit for pay games, and read the withdrawal rules, it says that you have to fax or email a copy of your passport or state id before funds will be paid, to make sure that you are in a state that allows the games. I guess at somepoint I'll email a copy of by drivers liscense but just wondering if anyone else has had to do this at Fantazzle or at any of the other similar sites.
