Watching the Heat tear apart the Mavs in Dallas. Clearly the Heat are clicking today--I think when they call fewer plays and just let the guys run they are a far better team.

They've always had a very good defense, but the Mavs aren't helping themselves today.

My Jason Terry draft pick is making me look like a genius. At least, here on Day 1.

I do not think the Mavs even want to play today...They wanted their long overdue trophy and Banner lifted.

After that amazing Knicks/Celtics game, I really couldn't even watch the second half of the Heat/Mavs game.
I wasn't at all surprised to see the Lakers fall to the Bulls, even down by 10 with 5 minutes to go. Lakers look to be hurting to me so far this year, but maybe that's just the Clippers being that amazing when it's this early in the season and more about shake and bake and 'lob city' with systems more gradually falling into place.
Can't really imagine the Magic hanging with OKC (though they are so far 18-18) and I think the Clips are going to rock the Warriors.

I'm not a Mavs fan, but that shot to win it for OKC was painful to watch.

BTW, I saw that the NBA is having free access to League Pass through Jan 8th.

Yeah, I wish it worked at your in-laws house for vacation when they don't get satellite TV....

Found out last night the audio league pass is free all season if you simply create an NBA All-Access ID/Login.

Unfortunately If you buy league pass for your TV, it doesn't grant you instant access to the broadband or mobile broadcasts that are also included. The 1-2 business day wait time over a holiday weekend could easily translate into a five day wait - by the time you are home to your own TV anyway.

Was considering getting League Pass again this yr but I think they are ripping us off--last yr cost was $180 for the full 82 game sched--this yr they are charging $170 for the 66 game sched--since the reduced sched comes to a 20% difference in games their price should be in the area of $145

Yeah - it was funny...the first game that Mike Breen did with Jeff Van Gundy they were roasting Van Gundy out for being a grinch/curmudgeon, which he denied of course, and then he went on to have the same gripe about the cost of league pass not being prorated based on the amount of product delivered. I agree with him and you of course, but this year decided the Pacers were worth watching again so I paid my money.

DeMarcus Cousins has officially requested a trade and has been sent home by the team. WIll not play Sunday.

It seems like its becoming a trend now. Who would be a good fit for him and a good trade partner for the Kings?

I hope Greg Stiemsma never gets traded to Cleveland.

Sixers. Fun to watch again. Remained mostly intact from last year, huge advantage when starting late, in a short season, and with good young depth.

Is it just me, or does Chris Kaman look like a yard gnome?

He's looking especially gnome-like this year. That beard really isn't helping.

The trade Orlando needs to make is the one that no one dares say... for it would lead to a lead-pipe cinch of multiple NBA championships.

Howard for DWade straight up!

Wade is signed to a multi year deal, so he can't walk. The Heat are winning without him, LeBron is free to dominate, and Howard and Bosh as bigs would be unstoppable.

Don't know if Wade has a no-trade clause...

This discussion has happened before, just slightly different...
In a recent conversation with Donnie Walsh, the departing Knicks president, I asked if the contracts of Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire included no-trade clauses. Walsh reminded me that such clauses in the N.B.A. required eight years in the league and four years of service with that particular team. (Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki qualified in their last negotiations and thus have no-trade deals.)

So, Wade was in his seventh year when he signed his contract, therefore I don't believe he has a no-trade clause.

Wow, things have changes since Jan. 6th post 11.

Blazers fire McMillan

That's asinine. I think he is one of the five best coaches in the league. The Knicks should be on the phone with him right now!
