Draft$treet has started offering weekly NBA salary-cap leagues. Instead of a contest where all scoring takes place on a single game day, these leagues accumulate points over a 7 day period. And it's not just a case of finding players with maximum GP over the week. Player salaries are adjusted to compensate for the number of scheduled games for each player, so a player with only 3 games will cost only 60% (all other factors being equal) than a player with 5 games.

I'm considering setting up a private multi-player league for RotoGurupies. They would be open to anyone who uses the RotoGuru site, as the links would be only published here.

I can establish a league for up to 20 managers. The entry fee for each manager would be either $2 or $5. If there are 17-20 managers, then the top 4 would be paid from the prize pool. Three prizes would be paid if the number of managers is 10-16, and 2 prizes would be paid out if there are only 5-9.

For a $2 league, the total prize pool would equal 89.25% of the total entry fees. For a $5 league, the pool would equal 94.5% of the total fees. Note that these prize pools are 5% higher than for comparable public leagues.

If I set up a league with a 20-manager max that fails to fill, I've been told that I can reduce the size prior to the entry deadline to match the actual number of entrants. Note that the prize pool and payout structure would adjust accordingly. Here are the prize pool payout percentages:

5-9 entrants: 65%(1st place)/35%(2nd place)
10-16 entrants: 55%/30%/15% (top 3 places)
17-20 entrants: 45%/28%/17%/10% (top 4)

I believe that multiple entries from the same manager are allowed.

In order to participate, you would need to be registered at Draft$treet and have deposited ample funds to enter. For first time depositers who registered through the RotoGuru link (referer code: DBD), Draft$treet will award a bonus of 40% of the deposit amount (subject to a max of $100 bonus on a $250 deposit.) If you have bonus money in your account, 20% of your contest entry fees are paid from this bonus money. In this case, you are actually playing with a negative "rake."

Draft$treet NBA contests use an 8-player roster (2G, 2F, 2C, 2 utility). Player salaries and points are incorporated in the RotoGuru sortable stats. Salaries are updated each day, reflecting the pending weekly schedule. The point formula is similar to the old TSN formula, although the factors are not exactly the same. (See rules.)

Prior to trying this, I'd like to gauge preliminary interest. Would you be likely to enter such a league with a $2 entry fee? How about a $5 entry fee?
