Now that the RIHC draft has finished, I invite each of the participants to share any reactions that they have. Feel free to say as much or as little as you wish. As a guide, you might consider the following questions:

1) Did you have a specific strategy going in? Did it go as expected?
2) What surprised you?
3) How did your approach change as things unfolded?
4) If you had to do it over, what would you do differently?
5) Your best and worst pick, in retrospect.
6) The 2 or 3 picks by other managers that you thought were especially good steals.
7) 2 or 3 players that were selected higher than you had expected.
8) If you had to trade your own team for one other owner's team in the league, whose would you want it to be?

Outsiders who were not participating in the draft are also welcome to share their general reactions.

1. Strategy was going to be the same as prior drafts where first 5 rounds draft best player or who was thought to be highest rated player via ESPN, Yahoo or publications. After that fill in as needed on team needs. Last couple of rounds take injured player, flyer on rookie with upside or someone thought would not be there.

2. Surprise--all the PG going much higher than rated. All the PG flying off the board before my 6.11 pick.

3. After my fifth pick and point guard run decided I better grab a couple of point guards and was really playing catch up after that.

4. If redoing would have changed 4th round pick to Klay Thompson who was original plan and gone for Lillard 5th round after seeing all the PG go off board. I had them pencilled in originally but then got sidetracked by Hibbert and Gordon.
5. Best Valuanciunus(inadvertant auto); Worst Gordon
6. Steals: Bargnani and GW together
7. Early surprises: Curry, Jennings, Rubio
8. Trade teams: Guru or Sanforders

1) Did you have a specific strategy going in? Did it go as expected?
Quickly get a good PG and a big than dont kill me on FT% is what I was aiming this year...

2) What surprised you?
Nothing really.

3) How did your approach change as things unfolded?
When round 8 appeared I saw I really needed more Blocks(and Rebounds), so kinda forced myself into a C who does that.

4) If you had to do it over, what would you do differently?
Not much , just hope Westbrook over Paul doesn't bite me in the ...

5) Your best and worst pick, in retrospect.
Hard to say...Now looking at it Matthews(4.10) seems too early, got blinded by the 3pters and the fact he has few comp at his position on his real team. I really like Bosh at 5.03 (If he can stay in 1 piece), Not wild about the end of my draft, Roy is a huge risk/reward pick, we'll see how long his knee holds up.

6) The 2 or 3 picks by other managers that you thought were especially good steals.
3.02 Gay, just for the fact I really wanted him one pick later ;)
Looking at last box scores, Varejao seems quite the steal right now.

7) 2 or 3 players that were selected higher than you had expected.
Kobe(1.12) and Curry(2.01)

8) If you had to trade your own team for one other owner's team in the league, whose would you want it to be?
prolly SANFORDORS

Picking from the 11th slot, I wanted a big and a PG with my first two selections. After that it was trying fill out my postions with the best value possible while avoiding anyone who had issues with FG% or FT%. As the draft went on, I tried to get players who had fallen too far, players who I thought might end up with playing time, and a few young guys with upside.

I was a little suprised by the premium placed on point guards and am left wondering if my team is deep enough at that position...time will tell. If I had it to do over I might try and grab two PGs within the first 3-4 rounds.

If he can stay healthy, Varejao at 104 does look like a great pick. I will also be curious to see how Mullens at 121 pans out.

1) Did you have a specific strategy going in? Did it go as expected?
first year I had no specific strategy. I did not want to completely punt any category. I don't know if I achieved that because it seems that I am way behind in threes. but that is something that can probably be corrected with waiver pickups.

2) What surprised you?
that the draft felt much slower than in the past. I had much more time available to research picks. I don't know if this is good or bad because the more time you have the more you pick guys that are not yet on top of the expert lists.

3) How did your approach change as things unfolded?
since I had no approach I had not much to change. picking some PGs early resulted in a deficit of big man. adding the big mans resulted in a deficit of 3s and FT%. I tried to correct that late in the draft but was not as successful as I hoped.

4) If you had to do it over, what would you do differently?
take a different draft pick but I don't know if this would have improved my team. i thought this early on but as the draft progressed the managers around me rarely picked players from the top of my queues.
I also gambled on some players and missed to pick them like Kawhi Leonard or Byron Mullens

5) Your best and worst pick, in retrospect.
James Johnson at 13.07 seems like a very good pick as long as he is the starter. Nene at 11.07 isn't bad either. I don't know if I would take Luis Scola at 8.06 again.

6) The 2 or 3 picks by other managers that you thought were especially good steals.
Blake Griffin went way lower than expected because of his FT%.

7) 2 or 3 players that were selected higher than you had expected.
Curry at 2.01
Love at 2.05. I don't think that missing one fifth of the season is still worth a 2nd round pick. I would have taken him in round 3. the same can be said about Ricky Rubio and Derrick Rose.

8) If you had to trade your own team for one other owner's team in the league, whose would you want it to be?
I'd say deejay.

1) Did you have a specific strategy going in? Did it go as expected?
Try not to over reach. Not Really.

2) What surprised you?
How well youngroman did with mostly working from queues.

3) How did your approach change as things unfolded?
After I botched the Rubio pick and to a lesser degree Granger, it started bailing water.

4) If you had to do it over, what would you do differently?
Picked Pekovic instead of Granger, K Thompson instead of Lopez.

5) Your best and worst pick, in retrospect.
Based on last nights games, Ray Allen. Worst pick TBD, but probably Granger.

6) The 2 or 3 picks by other managers that you thought were especially good steals.
Guru with Davis, twolves with the oops I got Valanciunas.

7) 2 or 3 players that were selected higher than you had expected.
Duh, Rubio.

8) If you had to trade your own team for one other owner's team in the league, whose would you want it to be?

1) Did you have a specific strategy going in? Did it go as expected.

I seem to have the same strategy every year, to try and pay attention to the %'s, and every year I write the same thing, that somehow that plan got hijacked. This year was no different, and even without Dwight on my roster, I think I'm destined for last in FT%.

2) What surprised you?

I wasn't really surprised, I expected alot of PG's to go early, but it seems that wasn't something that has happened in prior years.

3) How did your approach change as things unfolded?

After taking Rondo in round 3, Gortat in round 4, and Blake in round 5, plan A of trying to maintain decent %'s was out the window as far as FT%

4) If you had to do it over, what would you do differently?

Nothing really

5) Your best and worst pick, in retrospect.

Based on game 1, Varejao @ 9.08 could be the steal of the draft. Worst pick might end up being Danny Green @ 11.08. He's done OK out of the gate, but I should have opted for Beasley with the pick

6) The 2 or 3 picks by other managers that you thought were especially good steals.

Two 8th rounders, I think Vasquez will out perform his draft slot (8.01 ), and I think Valanciunas ( 8.11 ) will return excellent value

7) 2 or 3 players that were selected higher than you had expected.

I've got Curry-itis after having him a couple years ago and would never draft him as early as he went ( sorry Swish ), and Rubio

8) If you had to trade your own team for one other owner's team in the league, whose would you want it to be?

I really like Youngromans team with honorable mention to Guru and Jasonprof

1) Did you have a specific strategy going in? Did it go as expected.

I had no strategy whatsoever, which is new for me. All i came in armed with was a Rotoworld cheatsheet, and i did my best to pick a reasonable team. I'm happy with my team considering the time pressure my wedding put me under to make selections quickly! The one thing i will say is that it was a nice new experience to have double selections because of my draft slot. I suppose that means reaching occasionally to get the players you want, but it also means 2 uninterrupted selections, which i quite enjoyed.

2) What surprised you?

There seemed to be a fair amount of players that slipped further than i expected. But in general, i didn't really have time to process any surprises.

3) How did your approach change as things unfolded?

After taking Curry over Bynum at the turn, i decided not to reach for a C. That landed me with Pek and Jordan as my starting Cs, which i'm just about ok with.

4) If you had to do it over, what would you do differently?

Not much. Looking back, i can't think of many occasions where i felt i made the wrong selections. It's just that some of the players i wanted were taken before i waited out my 22 picks.

5) Your best and worst pick, in retrospect.

I'm extremely happy with my first 4 picks. I've been under heavy scrutiny over selecting Curry, but it was just a gut call. I just have a feeling he'll be a top 10 value this season in 8-cat. I would have selected Kyrie Irving over him if he had been available. My other top 3 picks i think could all return close to 1st round value. That's nothing new for Kobe, but i'll be really, really shocked if Lowry and Batum don't outperform their draft position in a big way.

In the lower rounds, my best pick without a doubt, was Vasquez in round 8. I think he'll be a borderline tier 1 PG this year, and a comfortable tier 2 PG.

Worst pick was Copeland in 14. Fell foul of the preseason hype - needless to say he's been ejected from the Aeons already!

6) The 2 or 3 picks by other managers that you thought were especially good steals.

It seems to happen every year i'm in a league with Dave R, but he seemed to nab all the players i saw slipping too far - Deng, Griffin, Varejao, JR Smith to name a few. He knows me better than i know myself.

7) 2 or 3 players that were selected higher than you had expected.

Rubio was the one that stuck out, but i also thought Tony Parker was far, far too high at 4.06.

8) If you had to trade your own team for one other owner's team in the league, whose would you want it to be?

Dave R, without a doubt. He's like my nemesis, and i don't expect this year to be an exception based on the start he has had.
