The league has been activated at Yahoo. Be sure to set your active lineup by Oct. 28.

1st day of the season and I am already missing a feature I used regularly the last few seasons at ESPN. is there somewhere a listing of free agents with last nights stats? in ESPN it is called "Daily Leaders".

League page with links and standings summary is up and will be updated daily:

http://rotoguru1.com/hoop/RIHC.html

Split standings by date range has not yet been set up for the current year, but I'll get that done by he weekend.

I get to be the first to whine about injuries this season - thanks to Westbrook & Oladipo!

Standings & stats splits by date should be working now: http://rotoguru1.com/hoop/RIHC/split.html

You can also get there from the league page (linked in post 2, which is also linked from the home page at RotoGuru -click on the square RIHC icon in the left panel.)

I know that managers in this league seem to prefer Yahoo (over ESPN).

I don't get it. From my perspective, ESPN seems to be superior.

In addition to Yahoo's inability to accommodate same-day roster changes (completely locking out the ability to add/drop players once their game has started), I can't find any convenient way to see the minutes played by each player for a given day. Or the average minutes played over any date range. Both are readily available at ESPN.

I also hate the dark background with white/colored fonts. Is there some way to override the default setting?

For those of you who prefer Yahoo,... why? It's not a rhetorical question. What does Yahoo provide that is superior to what is offered at ESPN?

Guru - in Team Settings there is a "Page Theme" where you can choose between day (white background) and night (dark background). Don't ask me why there is nothing in between.

I am also searching for a simple way to see the minutes played of my players or free agents that played yesterday. I found a way to see yesterdays stats of most free agents (by using the watchlist feature), but these stats do not include minutes, which means an additional click for every player.

and the last thing about Yahoo: it does not function at work, because we have some strange filters activated on our company proxies that block some Yahoo resources because they were once used for distributing malware.

I just prefer Yahoo because that's where I play most of my fantasy games and it keeps them all in one place.

Guru - much like RJ just wrote in post 7... nobody has a good reason to not be using the superior ESPN other than they are too lazy to click on a different link. Like its so hard to have your two bookmarks to 2 different sites right next to each other on your bookmarks bar. You still have to go and click on another link to go to your other league, what does it matter if its on a different site? It blows my mind.

ESPN baseball and basketball are both clearly superior products. Yahoo I believe still has the upper-hand in football.

I am considering moving this league to ESPN next year by Guru-fiat (rather than taking a vote.) Mys sense is that many of the people who prefer Yahoo do so mostly out of a sense of familiarity, and as long as this league stays on Yahoo, the majority of qualifying managers will have played at Yahoo for the prior season.

What I'm trying to do by opening the discussion now is to raise the issue - and more importantly, to try to ascertain just what (if anything) Yahoo does better than ESPN. So far, I haven't heard anything in support of Yahoo other than familiarity/convenience. And one manager's convenience is another manager's inconvenience (e.g, as long as this league is at Yahoo, I have leagues on multiple platforms. Not a big deal for me, but if I have leagues at two places, it would be nice if the "inconvenient" place at least had some useful feature to recommend it.)

I look at minutes played on Yahoo by clicking on the player's name.

1. I prefer Yahoo's Rank & O-Rank to ESPN's Player Rater/ Position Rank. Yahoo's system is more intuitive for me, and you may also sort the rank by average stats. I think ESPN only does their rank by total stats.

2. I like Yahoo's app better. Yahoo has 1 app for all their sports. ESPN has apps for each of their sports. When your phone only has so much space on it, conveniences like this actually make a difference.

3. This doesn't affect this league as much, but in a football league I am in at ESPN we run weekly waivers. The app only shows a certain # of the most recent transactions and it is impossible to view all of the transactions on the app. It is frustrating not being able to see all of the pickups made that week on a mobile.

4. I noticed ESPN's fantasy site being down due to an overload of activity twice at the beginning of the NFL season.

5. ESPN had a glitch during the recent baseball season where they locked in a team's doubleheader way early.

6. I recall during Jesus Guzman's (of the Astros) first extended season in 2011 ESPN mistakenly qualified him as a SS, and a SS he certainly was not. He hit .320 with an .860 OPS in 60 games after the All Star Break. It heavily influenced a deep league I was in.

I understand my latter points may not directly affect this league, but those items should never happen and it has given me cause for concern about ESPN and what could also happen down the road. Yahoo has been a more trustworthy platform IMO.

Yahoo does have the summarized app convenience but I find it MUCH easier to set a lineup and pick out guys not in the starting lineup on ESPN with the big red exclamation point and then with one click I can move them out of the lineup. During baseball season all I had was a minute between shifts to set a lineup out of pocket some nights and it was much quicker on ESPN. On Yahoo I have to scroll and read in all black in white looking for that little white x next to the player name. ESPN always had lineups earlier too. I would often check there and then go over to Yahoo with that knowledge and start or bench guys.

Also Yahoo app has random advertisements on every screen which is pretty annoying.

I honestly don't use the apps at all, prefer to just web browser it. If it came down to it and the switch was made it would be no big deal really. I did play on ESPN for the record in the 2012-13 season in AA. I can't really say I remember too much about how it was set up but it was fine. I have to say though that I do like the Yahoo interface. I guess it's just that I've been playing on there for so long though.

So funny looking back at the draft results,so many bad picks. Sure wish I "reached" on Jimmy Butler instead of Noel.

Thank you, DeAndre Jordan, for propelling me to the top ranking in rebounds and blocks. I also enjoyed your 72.5% field goal percentage. But those missed free-throws were getting harder and harder to overcome - especially that recent game when you were 12-26.

Hopefully, you've now set me up well enough in the reb and blk categories that the rest of my team can take it from here. You're going to a team who can appreciate your contributions without caring about your abysmal record at the charity stripe. You should get along great with Andre Drummond.

Fortunately, this is a RIHC season in which no team is dominating across the board, and I think it's still possible to get to the top spot, even with that glaring punt in assists. But to get there, I had to clean up that FT% category before it was too late to repair. So goodbye to DeAndre Jordan and Tristan Thompson, and hello to some players (notably Monta Ellis, with a significant boost from a healthier Durant) whose job is now to elevate my team FT% from 76.1% to something in the 78% ballpark.

On the receiving end of DeAndre ( and Tristan ), he should fit right in with team SANFORDORS. Talk about a " glaring punt " of a category, my FT% is beyond repair. After drafting Drummond ( and a few others ), I knew it would be bad, but.... at .721% only a redraft of my team would make any difference

Hopefully, with Blake on the shelf, Jordan can elevate his scoring as witnessed by his last two games of 20+ points, and the loss of scoring from Monta will be less painful. Maybe Jordan's recent 12-26 from the line was to much for Guru to swallow, I say, bring it on. On the surface I think I have more to gain then lose, time will tell

I'm not sure this move can propel me to the top, that would be nice, but a return invite next year is a nice consolation prize, and I think this helps me with that goal.

From AA may I ask what the transaction was? It hasn't shown up on the publicly accessible RIHC transactions page yet. A Drummond owner, I may wish to make a similar offer!

Gadzooks!

After that trade, I had a good feeling about making a title push.

But Durant immediately went down, and hasn't returned.

Jamaal Crawford has been out for awhile, and will be out for longer.

For awhile, I had 5 players with the dreaded "injured" tag.

And then Ibaka went down.

At this point, I'm having trouble getting to my full allotment of GP. But without Durant and Ibaka, all chances at contending are shot.

Gahhh!

And now Klay Thompson is out for 7-10 days with ankle sprain.
