This thread will contain all of the individual pick rationales for the 2015 RIHC draft. RIHC managers should supply those rationales in the Rationale Collection thread. You will not be able to post directly into this thread.

I expect that this thread will be updated daily.

12.11 Caldwell-pope, Kentavious - DET - SG
Another guy with three names. I'm still looking to add 3's, Kent...... should be good at that, assuming he is named starter at PG for the Pistons.

Last year, his 2nd, he averaged 13.1ppg, 3 boards, 1.5 steals and assists and nearly 2 triples per. I'd be happy with those numbers at this juncture.

Knee problem doesn’t appear to be serious. Looking for marginal improvement across the board at minimum, with the possibility of more.

Unclear how much any big will play but currently listed as starter. If he grabs job, won’t hurt you in FT% and can contribute a board and a block.

13.02 Davis, Ed - POR - PF
At this point Davis isn't slated to be a starter in Portland, and that might not change. The good news is he should see plenty of minutes as a back up, as he did last year for the Lakers.

Aldridge and Lopez have been replaced by Plumlee and Leonard, arguably a downgrade in talent. I envision more minutes for Davis than the 23 he logged last year, and an uptick in his stats from last year, which 8 points, 8 boards and 1.5 blocks. Granted his FT% stinks, but his FG% was a stellar 60%.

That would be a reasonable return for a round 13 investment

Strickly a Rotation man who had a good year last year and is now in a situation where he stands to get minutes when Kobe has a night off or an injury. He is in a three way competition for the PS/SG rotation so nothing is guaranteed as far as minutes etc. When he does play he gets to the line fairly well where he shoots just fine. Maybe he'll offset some of Dwight's Duds.

13.04 O'quinn, Kyle - NYK - PF
It's weird him not being on the Magic, but i love his opportunity here. There isn't much behind Melo and Lopez in the frontcourt, giving KOQ a huge opportunity to perform in a bullhammer reserve enforcer role that he should have been given an opportunity to perform in Orlando on more than one occasion.

It's just a shame i didn't have 3 picks here, because i would have hoovered up Alex Len and John Henson here too.

13.05 Stauskas, Nik - PHI - SG
The second year player for the 76ers has a real chance to make an impact this season. Philly isn’t that deep at the shooting guard position and I think Stauskas could end up winning that job. When he got the minutes last year he proved that he can be a decent three point shooter and overall scorer.

13.06 Kaminsky, Frank - CHA - PF
Charlotte reportedly turned down a draft day offer from the Celtics of 6 draft picks including 4 firsts for their 9th overall pick as Michael Jordan realllly wanted Kaminsky. The biggest takeaway for me is that Frank will be given every opportunity to run with a starting job, where he could be a nice all around player.

A bit concerned about this pick as Rotoworld is now saying he might not even make the final roster. I was hoping he would slide into the starting PG spot while Wroten is out and missed McConnell's (who??) preseason games. Regretting this pick.

13.08 Mahinmi, Ian - IND - C
Like Burke, Mahinmi will be pushed for minutes by a rookie. With Hibbert off to LA, Mahinmi is looking at his first real chance to be a starter. His foot work has improved and his preseason numbers have been decent for pick 152. If he can get 25 minutes he will help my squad in rebounds and blocks.

13.09 Henson, John - MIL - PG
Henson averaged 2 blocks a game in 18 minutes a game last year. Unfortunately with Monroe in town he will probably average around the same minutes per game. Still 2 blocks a game is valuable and that's what I drafted him for.

13.10 Lauvergne, Joffrey - DEN - PF
Lauvergne is the rarest of players, a tough Frenchman. Denver's starting center is injured and Lauvergne has had a great preseason in his place, with really solid shooting and big rebounding numbers. I figure he'll get at least 20 minutes per game in the regular season when Denver is at full strength. And for the time being, he will start at center and who knows, maybe he'll retain the job even after Nurkic comes back. I'm also a Game of Thrones fan, so it's nice to own a guy named Joffrey.

13.11 Wright, Brandan - MEM - PF
Likely to come off the bench behind both Gasol and Randolph, but hopefully will get enough minutes to matter. Strong in blocks and dunks. I have Gasol, so he does serve as a bit of insurance there. I considered Cauley-Stein here, but the Memphis connection tilted the scales.

First year player who is in contention for a starter's role, he is a defensive specialist at this point. I drafted him mainly for his potential to provide blocks and steals.

14.02 Vasquez, Greivis - MIL - PG
Backup PG to Carter-Williams (who seems to miss his share of games.) Should get enough PT to matter, regardless, and could even play with MCW on occasion. I’m long the Bucks’ backcourt as it is, so Vasquez provides some potentially useful backup protection.

14.03 Warren, T.j. - PHO - SF
TJ Warren is in his second year, but is going to be used as a 6th man in Phoenix (if he doesn't win the starting job over PJ Tucker). He has been playing great in the preseason, scoring 14+ in 4 out of 6 games, and averaging about 2 steals per game. He also has pretty good rebounds and assists. The only weakness seems to be that he has no 3 point shot (1 for 10). Assuming he can get 25-30 minutes per game, he will be a very valuable player.

14.04 Len, Alex - PHO - C
I took Len as sort of a handcuff to Chandler. His numbers are very usable if he gets minutes but that most likely won't be the case if Tyson is healthy. Still at this point in the draft this is a decent upside pick.

14.05 Koufos, Kosta - SAC - C
A theme...like Burke and Mahinmi, I opted to take a big man who is being pushed for his starting gig by a rookie. At the time of the pick I actually expected Koufos to anchor the second team down low. I actually like this spot for him better since Cousins will dominate the statistics for the starters. Hopefully Koufos will get more boards and rebounds because he doesn't have to compete with Cousins

14.08 Lavine, Zach - MIN - PG
He has the athleticism to create mismatches in the open court, and hopefully can improve on the defensive end to become a solid two-way player. He averaged 13.8 points, 4 rebounds, 5.1 assists with 1 steal and decent efficiency in 40 games as a starter last year.

14.09 Green, Gerald - MIA - SG
Luol Deng and Dwayne Wade have a 0% chance of playing close to 82 games or 35+ minutes. There is ample opportunity for Green to do what he does best, which is bomb 3s. And when one of the aforementioned gets their inevitable injury, Green will be waiting to go into hyperdrive.

14.10 Adams, Steven - OKC - C
Looking for a third center, one who would play significant enough minutes to contribute something if I had an injury (likely with Dwight) plus the extra two games are important. One reason I really like this format. Steven is the starter although Enes Kantor may get the most minutes. He scores well enough gathers in modest boards and blocks a few shots.

14.11 Mclemore, Ben - SAC - SG
Pick 167, I'm getting a starter.

Ben showed significant improvement after what would be considered a disappointing rookie season. He finished with per game average of 12 points, 3.5 boards, 1 steal, and 1.7 threes, shooting a respectable 44% from the floor and 81% from the line. I could do worse.

Rondo is in town, DeMarcus is down low, I'm thinking another step forward for McLemore.

15.02 Patterson, Patrick - TOR - PF
This could be a wasted pick, but we are at that stage in the draft. Rumored to have a starting gig in Toronto, his lackluster play may have opened the door for others.

Last season Patterson played in 81 games with rather pedestrian stats of 8 points 5+ boards, but 1.3 threes, with decent %, and chipping in some blocks and steals.

If named the starter, or at least logging starters minutes, this pick could be OK. If not he gets tossed back on the scrap heap. I'm sure we will all have our fair share of those

15.03 Smith, Josh - LAC - SF
With the recent news that Smith will play some minutes a C, it seems likely his role, time on the court, will take a small boost. That being the case this guy can stuff stats when given the opportunity. His FT shooting is disappointing, but since he is not my main guy at SF/PF/maybe C, the steals and stats he does generate when I do play him will more than make up for that deficiency.

Green was off to a good start with the Celtics before a midseason trade to the Grizzlies slowed down his groove. Green still played 30+ mpg for them, and perhaps a full offseason with the team translates to an improvement.

Not overly happy with this pick – hes banged up and Jones is back at full strength. However, Montie should get some good backup minutes and if anything happens to Jones, he will slide into the starting PF spot and might get a few starts at C too. Montiejunas has some potential but I think there were better options out there.

Denver is an interesting team this year and they are going with a very young back court. Who knows if Harris will be on my team two weeks from now. I will use the first couple weeks to see if his 3 pt and steal contributions are enough to hold down a roster spot.

15.10 Wroten, Tony - PHI - PG
Last season, Wroten averaged 18 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 3ptr as a starter. Then he tore his ACL and missed the rest of the season. He is aiming to return in November, although the Philly coach said it could be more like December. Even so, if he gets back into his starting role and can give me 60 games, then he is a great value for this late in the draft.

16.03 Thompson, Tristan - CLE - C
Thompson was great in the playoffs and therefore he decided he was worth a max contract so he sat out all of training camp and the preseason. That uncertainty has obviously hurt his draft stock. Luckily, he came to an agreement with the Cavs about an hour before my pick so I was able to swoop in and take him. For a final round pick, he can give me 10 points and 10 boards, and has the potential for more. He'll be coming off the bench for now, but it's only a matter of time before Varejao or Love goes down with another injury.

Not going to lie, this was basically a wasted pick to get the draft over with. Several of the guys that I wanted with my last pick went before me. I wanted Nate Robinson with this pick and actually added and selected him in Draftime. Then i realised he'd been taken much earlier in the round with a placeholder.

16.10 Capela, Clint - HOU - C
He has played well in place of Dwight in the preseason, grabbing a couple of double doubles along the way. He will start the first HOU game due to suspension of Dwight, and looks to be the first guy in line after Dwight at the moment. I actually had him ahead of Steven Adams (14.10) for most of the draft, but decided tho go with Adams before Clint because of the guaranteed minutes Adams will get. I am very glad he was still around at the end of the draft. I think he will far outplay his Draft Position.

NOTE: While many of my picks were made automatically by the queue this in no way undermines the value of the selections made. It is a simple thing to establish a queue according to perceived value/needs and then tweak it as the drift progresses. I realize there is a sense of satisfaction in "selecting" Player A, but logging on to drafttime and checking the progress is also like opening a well wrapped present when you see which of the wonderful gifts you wanted has actually been given you. I do heartily recommend trying it.

16.11 Humphries, Kris - WAS - PF
Let's face it, Nene is old(er), brittle, always seemingly injured. One site has already posted that Nene will come off the bench, and moved Humphries to the top of the depth chart.

Well see, but with the next to the last pick in our draft, I'm not expecting a heck of allot.

But as a Nets fan, it is only a few years ago, the Kris averaged a double-double. I don't expect that at all. In 21 minutes last year he averaged 8ppg and 6.5 boards. If he starts this year, who knows.

Did I mention last nights line? 16 points, 12 RB's, 2 steals, and, get this, 2 threes. Preseason, I know
