Opening day is Tuesday, Oct. 16. Make sure your lineups are properly set.

For many years, I've produced a program that calculates RIHC standings splits over any range of dates, or using averages rather than totals.

With the complete redesign of the ESPN hosting platform, my existing program will need some significant reconfiguring. I haven't yet decided whether I want to devote the effort to do that - but in any event, it won't be done prior to the start of the season.

Just kind of made this link up based off of previous years:

http://fantasy.espn.com/basketball/playerrater

Thanks to some superb tech support from Youngroman, I should be able to produce split standings again.

I hope to have that all running by Thursday.

I'm not a fan of the new ESPN user interface.

now that I supported Guru to call the ESPN API to get all relevant data I guess I will do something similar for my own purposes.

what I do not like:
- I have to scroll to the right to see ownership % and change %
- I had to reload the page to see last nights data
- I don't see the minutes played
- I had to reload the page to change the lineup for the next scoring period
- the real-time standings are still reset at 3am, so I don't know where I am standing until stats are made official sometime between 5am and 6am.
- where is the daily leaders page?

and that are only the things I noticed within the 5 minutes of my daily routine. I don't know how the live-scoring thing is looking and working, because by the time the games started I was already dreaming of a Draymond Green double-double. did not happen.

I agree with Youngroman. I wasn't a big fan of EPSN's site to begin, and it's now worse IMO. As far as the live scoring feature, I didn't spend allot of time analyzing it, but I did notice it disn't seem to " fit right " on my computer.
Last year the standings updated automatically in addition to live scoring, and that didn't seem to be happening, maybe it was the first night.

I also would like to know how you make a request to get a players position updated. IE, Reggie Bullock started 52 games last year, 34 of which were at SG, and he is only listed as a SF. I would have thought that would be addressed right off the bat, and I bet there are others.

I don't have to reload the page when shifting from date to date. Youngroman - maybe that's a browser-dependent issue?

I do like that when you make a lineup move, you don't have to separately hit submit for it to be saved.

Other issues I've encountered with the new site:

No player rater. The link posted by RSF in post 3 isn't working properly, so it's probably just a non-functioning artifact of the prior regime.

Currently, the commish has no capability to force a player onto or off of a team. If someone mistakenly drops a player, I have no way to rectify it. So be careful when adding or dropping a player!

I suspect that some of these issues will be rectified as the season unfolds. I sure hope so.

links for the future. it seems that ESPN is still developing all these features. I should offer them some help.

Daily Leaders (if you click on a column the players get sorted, but the stats are not displayed)
Player Rater (only the 2019 column is working)

to continue my rant:
- clicking on a player now shows you a video on top. this is fantasy basketball and not Youtube. I don't want to scroll down to see the stats of a player and his game log.
- any idea where I can see my positional limits? not that interesting right now, but definitely in a few weeks to see where I need to make up games and if I should put a player in at PF or C.
- trading block? where is it? not that I am already planning any trades.

it looks like they try to have you stay longer at espn.com, at any cost, and don't care that the hardcore players find their site more and more inefficient for their daily activities.

Is it possible to move the league to Yahoo now?
I see at least one complaint in G20

We will stick with ESPN this year. Hopefully, the functionality will improve.

We can decide after this season whether moving back to Yahoo is warranted. Recall that Yahoo had drwabacks related to same-day player additions that, among other thing, prompted the move to ESPN several years ago.

The league settings page shows a 720 game limit. Using my LM powers, I can also see that it is enforced by position (90 per slot).

I don't see anywhere that this is monitored or measured, however.

Sorry - those are the G20 limits. For RIHC, it is 1008 games, also enforced by position (84 per slot).

Kevin Love is the Deandre Jordan, Dwight Howard and Andre Drummond of FG%!!! 30.4% FG% on 18.7 shots!!!!!

No wonder I am dead last in FG%. WTF.

I also cannot find that GP info on the website.

On the phone app ... it IS available when clicking the little "info" icon next your team name on the 'My team' page.

It appears the maximum games per position may have been lost when ESPN went to a new interface.

This is called fake it til you make it. Or Jack-Rabbiting the GP column. But I'll take 1st at any point. :)

And like everyone else, I really hope they are working on this interface. Lots of weak-points to it. Did the stats page sort both sets when you clicked on a column header, previously? I think it did. It doesn't now and that's annoying to me.

[18] I know it looks that way, but the setting is still to limit by position (which I can see if I try to edit the setting), and if you look at the GP info on the phone app (see post 17), it is being tracked by position.

I noticed that some players now have additional positional eligibility. For example, Ibaka is now PF,C rather than just PF.

DNPs so far from the following five guys who I had expected to be in my starting lineup:

3 Anthony Davis (1st round pick)
2 Donovan Mitchell (2nd rnd)
9 John Collins (5th)
4 Brandon Ingram (7th)
8 Kevin Knox (9th)

Total DNPs: 26

That group of 5 players has only played in 22 games so far, so less than half of their potential games.

The average GP for the other 11 teams in this league is 125. My team has played only 104.

Death by a thousand DNPs...

ESPN finally getting something together:
- I noticed that there is now a daily leaders page
- the player rater is available as well. data can't be fully trusted when you see an ownership of 100.1 % for Harden, Lillard and Giannis. WTF ?

still missing:
- GP limits per position. I still don't know where I stay. I only know that I am behind.
- trade block

I must be doing something different as it appears I have GP total 40 games ahead of nearest competitor and most in the league wihich is hard to believe. I may need a recount. Not sure how that happened but it likely means will not be in lofty position for long.

I want to make sure to acknowledge all of the crow I need to eat when eserel wins. In my draft recap, I used Ayton and 2 other picks of his as picks I thought were out of whack.

Shows what I know. He is kicking our asses. Props, eserel.
