Subject: RIHC to be retired for 2019-20

I wanted to get this out early, so that those of you who have been involved in the RIHC leagues can make other plans and/or reorganize among yourselves.
After some extended contemplation, I have decided not to organize and/or sponsor the RIHC for the coming season. The number of interested managers is dwindling, and I'm quite sure that we would not have enough managers this year to host three leagues without using duplicate managers.
With the NBA season now starting on Oct 22, the time to be organizing the leagues (i.e., recruiting commissioners and managers, getting registrations set, planning for drafts, etc.) is almost upon us. It's tough to get that process going at the same time that the NFL season is just getting underway. And frankly, I'm finding that I have less interest in NBA regular season action than in the past.
At some point, I may wind down the RIBC (baseball) and RIFC (football) leagues as well, although those still seem to hold more widespread interest and provide a larger pool of managers. So I have no plan to mothball those leagues yet.
My wife and I are both retired now, and we have been doing and planning much more traveling. I need to find opportunities to reduce time spent on RotoGuru initiatives. This seems like one of the least impactful cutbacks.
If some of you want to reorganize and set up a similar league, please feel free to do so. I can provide a list of recent managers who could be contacted, if needed.

Yes, to echo Deejay, thanks for running this for the past 15 ( ? ) years. I'm sure it's no small undertaking.
I'd be game to join any league that can get formed. Unfortunately I have no history/expertise in being a commish.

I'm ok with that Guru, I'm not a big NBA fan anymore, but please don't wind RIFC down. I love your NFL league sooo much. Anyway i also wanna thank you for all the years of fun and wish you to enjoy the travelling, hope you come to Rome one day.
PS if anyone decides to run the nba league for the future, i'm in.

I was getting ready to gird my self to tell you that I could not commissioner in AAA or play in RIHC this year becyz my niece is getting married in some place apparently devoid of Internet during key hoops commissioner/drafting time. Now I don't have to.
Thank you for the many years of free and innocent enjoyment you gave us.
I think I have a record that can be retired now. Unless Dan Wolfe commissionered hoops, I believe that I am the only person to have commissionered AAA leagues for you in all 3 sports.
Best wishes on retirement. You could start a thread wherein you send pictures of the wonderful places you are going to.

Since 2006 We have had a league of TSN board members that uses the same scoring as RIHC.
We have a couple of openings if anyone is interested.

I have sent out invites to the top league to 12 managers. Criteria is top 6 in RIHC or top 3 in AAA. Seems I have a bad e-mail address for Jasonprof, though it is the one he has used in Yahoo leagues before.
Jasonprof, if you are monitoring this thread, please send me an e-mail. If anyone has a good addy for him let me know as well.
As for the AA leagues, I will be sending out notice in the next couple days. If you are interested, send me an e-mail.

So, far I have confirmations from 9 of the 12 RIHC top league qualifiers. I have 14 people expressing interest in AAA leagues. I have zero volunteers for commissioner.
Bottom line, is the leagues haven't been formed yet, so you don't have an invite. It will likely be another week or more before that happens.
Rest assured this is going to happen, and it will happen under a viable timeline.

Invites to ESPN have been sent out to the 12 RIHC top league qualifiers. The "Getting Started" thread is for them.
Currently I have 13 people expressing interest in a AAA league. I am going to give it another week to see what interest there may be. If you would consider running a second team, let me know. I am thinking if we end up with 16 or less, we will just have one AAA league, and it will be on Yahoo, the overwhelming favorite platform.
I'll be starting another thread for AAA league(s). We'll save this thread for well wishing to Guru.
