As defending league champion, I feel
obligated to try to get this game going...
I'm thinking as this game is most suited to a
"non cost" atmosphere, the undermanned yet
very affordable Fantasy Hoops will have to do.
If the free game will have the same price
variables as the pay game, the game is
doable with the 500k-1000k limitations, but... I
suggest doing a 500K east and west division
(for a total of 10 players and 4 trades a week).
What do the 500k managers think?
Personally, I think a 5 player 500k team is
boring and having a east/west division will
make things even more interesting. As if that
won't make things tough enough, staple
players from last year have been severely
upgraded- 500k stud Hoiberg is at 5.0
million!!! this year. Of course, 500k was
always about finding the sleepers anyway.

Nice twist Shelby, I thought 500k would only survive as a free game, never thought about an east west angle. As winner of the first ever 500K game (had to get that in) I think it's a great idea.

DR as long as you buy them for 1 mil or less you can hold them after thay go up, but if you sell them, you can't repurchase until they fall to 1 mil or less.
Initial team must all be at 500K

Yes, that's one of the interesting points of the 500k game. Although your money is unlimited, once you hold an untouchable player (1.0+ mil) and he has a day to day injury, the problem arises of selling or holding knowing that you cannot buy him back if you do intend to sell...
Really, the game is extremely difficult in that you have pay attention to the full roster and be very wary of sub players. One example from last year is Eddie Robinson who was a solid 500k player when Mashburn was injured.

Division is up:
division> RotoGuru 500K
password> sleepers
Each managers should have two teams in the
division-
team name East
team name West
Remember, the initial roster must be made up
players starting at 500K but after the first
game may buy any players within 500-1000K
range. Good luck!

One more important thing, your West team
can only *buy* players in the Western
conference if SW lists them as a playing for a
Western team.
If your player is traded from a eastern to
western conference (vice versa), you are not
obligated to sell that player from your West
team.
Example: Raja Bell (PHI) is traded to the
Lakers. Any Eastern teams with Bell are not
required to sell him. Once Bell is sold
however, the Eastern team cannot buy him
back. Western teams may not buy Bell until
SW officially lists him as a Laker (LA).

As 2-time 500K Hoops and 2-time 500K baseball (never been beaten) RV champion, let me say that the RV prize is equal to the overall points champion. I was JUST eeked out of points champion last year as well. The twist is that the RV competition makes you really have to take chances and dump players that will lose money that may never hit $1 mil and you could lose them forever. Tough game.
Shelby one thing that will be tough to manage--If you want an east and west division, you can't have the same players on both teams. This will have to be monitored. Since Perm Dude is the commissioner and doles out the prizes, perhaps we should consult him (unless we have someone else that wants to take over that role or combine with him).

Yes, having the same player on both team would be illegal. Forgot to mention that. On the issue of monitoring, its about sportsmanship- buying players over 1000k is illegal... yet no one needs to monitor anyone.
Having a east and west division actually makes players easier to track. If we just had two generic divisions for each manager, it would be tough to remember if there is a duplicate player on the other team.. "Let's see, did he have Rafer on his other team too?" Where as with east and west divisions, it's clearly evident.
I'm looking for another good battle Ref! =)

I haven't even been to the game site--but I will put in a 500K team (2). Again, if the RV is a factor again--I love that twist that makes people take chances--otherwise there may be very little movement/trades.
Has anyone discussed LRV yet? Can't find it on the filter.

Shelby: Now that we can see each other's rosters I note that mkg's west team has Tracy Murray, who should be in the east -- an innocent oversight I'm sure. Do you have the ability to adjust scores in the standings thread to reflect non-conformities or will everyone get a free pass, with the results counting, as long as they use a trade to fix the problem immediately? I have no problem with an honor system approach, just thought we should establish a way to handle the inevitable roster glitch so everyone gets treated the same.
P.S.: I haven't looked at everyone's roster so don't assume that mkg is the only one with a non-conforming lineup.

Unfortunately there are only two trades, but I will use them both to try to make them right. My one team only had 5 total points. I will get my teams "legal" as quickly as possible--perhaps the two trades will be enough--but again I didn't understand the rule.

After looking at both of my teams, I can make my team legal after using both of my trades. Unfortunately, I likely won't be able to take advantage of better players which will set me back a week or two--but stuff happens. Thanks for letting us know before using any trades.

OK, my teams conform. I made sure I used all trades and only selected 500K players (even though I know I could have gotten players up to $1 mil.) No advantage was obtained in fact it was a huge disadvantage having to trade the biggest point producers on one team and putting them on the other team--but I'm still going to win in the end--it just may take a few weeks to get going. ;)
Are we doing away with the RV portion of the game this season?

Ok, i made a mistake on my East team, It was invalid yesterday, So i bought a guy who was 500k. And then sold him to buy a player less than a mil. Let me know if this is ok. I figure since i burned the trade that i was supposed to it should be.
