Subject: why don't we talk about the fantasy hoops?

We don't check our rotoguru teams in basket standings forum either.
This game should be discussed a bit, in my opinion. 2 only trades and weekly changing prices need a different strategy.
I'm doing good right now. On one team i'm trading players, on another one im saving trades, let's see which one will get more points at the end.
Unfortunately we can't see how many teams are running. They probably don't want to let us see how much they got with the ultimate FH. Well, i don't think that 30/40 USD/000 is what they expected.
Pity, i still prefer the old free SW hoops. |

my strategy in the free game is: use your trades WISELY.
We won't be able to build huge RV with weekly repricings and we can't make short-term related trades, if only because of the injury risk...

Really not much to talk about. I suggest trying to make your trades exclusively on the night before the roster freeze (i think it's Tuesday), but other than the 5 minutes that night we're actually making trades, we're spectators.

You should still make trades on any given day as the schedule dictates. Just because you get them on Tues it doesn't mean you have to wait until MOnday night to use them.

IMO, you don't have to wait until the roster freeze to make your trades. By acting this way, you really lose a lot of points compared to what you could have gained if you traded your player at the right moment (like you would do in the ultimate game).
Okay, it's too bad if one of the players you bought this week gets injured before the next roster freeze, but that's a risk i'm willing to take.
I think in the end, the free game might be harder to win than the ultimate game. In the free game, it's really a matter of making the right trade, it's not building RV as fast as you can to be able to have a roster full of studs before the rest of the competition...And there's more competitors too...Not every good smallworld player chose to pay to play the pay game.

A few recollections from prior Hoops seasons with weekly repricing:
1. Most teams will burn their trades early. This week, I'll bet a lot of trades were gone well before the weekend. And many of those folks will immediately spend their new trades on Tuesday afternoon.
2. This means that if you look at the current schedule outlook and point rankings, it will have a much greater influence on next week's price changes, rather than tomorrow's. Thus, if you are trading today based on the facts at hand, try to get players that you can comfortably hold for more than a week.

I had 2 players (Jerm O'Neal and Kirilenko) on both teams on opening day. Both I figured to be long term holds, one for value other for points/schedule. Now the other 3 I took one team to have long term hold and hope that they are in the price gainers for couple of weeks (Marbury, B.Barry, Rashard Lewis). Other I planned on trading for money makers so I started with (Francis, Speedy, Ant.Walker). I already got out of Speedy and Antoine for Tinsley and Marion the day after Walker finished his 4 in 5.
The other team I'm not sure if I want to trade, but looks like Marbury and Lewis and maybe Jerm O are my choices to dump. Marbury and Jerm O have 2 days off on 11th and 12th, and of course Rashard has good sched, but isn't Patterson(?) due to return for the game on the 8th? Pretty sure I will trade Marbury to make some $$$ on one of the other cheap guard trains even if I lose a few points, and then maybe upgrade Lewis for points since I have Kirilenko for $$$ also.

my team looks like this: Francis, Tinsley, Lewis, R. Wallace, and Mihm 2 trades.
Looking to dump Wallace and Mihm for somebody. Should I still go after Peja and Foster. Who will be the biggest gainers on Tuesday. I think we should all go for the money since it will be so important in this game. I can't tell if enough people traded for Peja so far though. I think Foster will make bukos of dough.
Any suggestions? Justin

FYI - the sartibles allow you to summarize the price changes from the past week. I'd think they would be a decent leading indicator.

With only 2 trades per week, ALL trades have to take into account long-term schedules.

Looking at the Sortable Stats(Thanks Guru), Tinsley, Barry, and Foster followed by Peja were the big money makers in the pay game. Does anyone have an opinion on how that will translate into changes in the free game?

I would agree that prognostications are somewhat difficult here, in that price gains are likely to be made on past performance whereas points have to be made on future performance. However, the big gainers on the daily game (Tinsley, Barry, and Foster) also have good future potential, thus, should gain nicely on the weekly game.
