I use schedules (2-weeks at a time) and review the pay-game's price movement from the current week. Usually a pretty good indication ofwho's going where. 34 mil's pretty good. I think I'm at 36, but I've also neglected a few pts along the way.

money doesnt count much in the free game IMO there is always a chapie to buy that give u many points, so u can use ur money for only 4 spots, and that's enuf

Of course money counts. Although cheapies can get you around 20-25 TSNP a game, I'd much rather a 7m player who gets me 30-35 TSPN a game. Money is very important when it comes to smallworld.

The thing I have found in the free game is that the changes are about a week behind. If a player has a 5 game week coming up, his price goes up the week after, when usually he is going into a 2 or 3 game week. This means you have to hold him to get the gains, but you will probably lose at least one game from whoever you want to trade into. It might make sense to other people, but i find it hard to get money and points at the same time.

One thing you might want to try is waiting to make your trades later rather than sooner. If you trade for someone for a Wednesday game than you notice a real steal later in the week you might have to wait till the next week to buy him. Since the schedule is heavy on Tuesday but we can't use our new trades until Wednesday's games it's important to have some in reserve for the day before the new trades hit! Confused?

I think you have to find a good balance between points and money. It seems like alot of people burn their trades as soon as they get them. This means there is not alot of late week trading. I discovered this when I went Tinsley > JWill early to gain a couple games, and Tinsley goes up 500k going into a 2 game week. The weekly price change forces you to hold a player til Tuesday to make money from them. My RV is just under $33 mil, but I'm first in my division.

I'm coming 3rd in my division but I'm up against people who have played smallworld for many years. They are very knowledgable fantasy players. I happen to know one of them. Anyway, after reading your response I feel that the general notion is that points are your main objectives so it's better to use your trades for maximum pts than to hold out for you RV to climb.

The problem with just using trades to maximize points is that many times you lose, don't gain, or gain a little cash, missing out on the loot. For about the first half of the season, it is so important getting a finacial base you can work from. I have a roster value of 37.51 wwr 181. Having that much allows me to get 3 studs, 1 mid-range guy, and 1 cheapie. With 34 million, one couldn't afford the 3rd stud, settling for another mid-ranged guy. Over the course of the season, 3 studs with out-point 2 studs and a middler. Unless, you are in the top 100 right now, if you have a roster value of 33 million, you will have a tough road ahead of you.

I'm doing terrible in the free game but I think this is why the pricing seems to be lagging.
Take McGrady on 12/11 he went up 510k from the previous seven days trading. On 12/18 he went up 200k from the previous seven days trading even though he got hurt on 12/16. With his two 50+ games on 12/13 and 12/15 either the early buys in the week out weighed the late week sells or managers decided to wait and see. We should see a big drop from him on 12/25. It is like you have seven days of trading packed into one. Does that make since. Maybe one of the old timers can better explain.
