This is my fourth year I've played the game, how many years has the game been around. When I started you could either play it through Smallworld's own site, or through CNNSI. |

I started in 99 when you could see on ONE page your team and your division standing ... thats when i liked it the best ... also get 10,000 for clicking on an ad.

but wasnt that really bad b/c u could have had a huge roster value if u clicked on the ad more times then the other people?

Yes Rafi, everyone clicked on the ad 100,000 times the first day and overloaded the servers and the game wasn't functional the first two weeks. But when it came back online it sucked cuz everyone had a roster value of 250 million and could buy whoever they wanted. Yep, that's what happened.

rafi you could only do it once a day.

You didn't even have to find the piggie. There was a URL you could bookmark that took you right to the piggie. All you had to do was click your bookmark once a day and you had your $10,000 SWD.
I also seem to remember they discontinued the piggie before the season was over.

Get a thicker skin for crying out loud. There was nothing mean in Shelby's post. He was just throwing a little sarcasm your way. Nothing more than good natured ribbing IMO.

As stunned as I am by the brutality of that comeback, I will battle back to yet again correct your syntax.
Because of my cheapness, er, fiscal responsibility at the beginning of hoops season, what you meant was: (returns to number crunching and widening the huge gap between he and JKP's pathetic team)

I always thought that lemming = masses. But, for some reason some people get upset when they get called a lemming.

32 | James K Polk

lol :)
There are two schools of thought.
The first consists of people who use the term lemming to describe the "masses" -- or "non-Gurupies -- which in past seasons formed a large enough group to affect price changes seemingly without reason. These "masses" also tended to produce a snowball effect in price changes, even when a player's performance didn't warrant it.
The second school consists of managers who believe a lemming is anyone who does something that they disagree with and/or that hurts their team.

Ummm, I didn't... I wouldn't... bwahahaha I didn't mean to, it was an accident!!! Like you never got pressured into a move!
OK, dumba$$, glorified newspaper delivery boy, cornholio the grammarian, if a train left Philadelphia at 1:00 PM (EST) travelling at a speed of 53 mph heading west and a second train left L.A. at 9:00 AM (PST) travelling at a speed of 57 mph heading East at what time and where would they meet?
Muhwahahahaha

Thanks for the help. In regards to that first school of thought, doesn't open discussion of trades contribute to form large groups of people that may affect price changes?

FWIW:
A Lemming is a chubby little rodent that looks like a mouse.
In some places, great swarms of Lemmings have moved over wide areas of land to the sea, then plunge off cliffs and drown. But it's not animal suicide. The mass deaths are accidental.

Simple. They would collide at the house of an overrated Mormon science-fiction author, whose books about little kids and the games they play are held with an unnatural fondness by some grown men I know.

Nature Boy 34 -- in past games, with hundreds of thousands of teams created, the users of a forum such as this one are just a drop in the bucket. People actually did some experiments with coordinated trading over a bunch of teams to see if they could affect anything, but no dice.
Not sure whether anyone's really figured out if gurupies might have an effect in the smaller pool of the pay-for-play game this year.

JK -38. Thanks for that clarification. Based on what you're saying since I'm in the pay league I could not be considered a lemming. By the way I just rated this a 5! Keep it going.

Ok, Citizen Kane. I'll break away from all of this madness and give you the answer that you are looking for. The Smallworld game, believe it or not, was created by Joseph Smallworld in the early 1900's. He wanted to create a game in which the competitors would become frustrated and ornery because the athletes they wagered on routinely got injured and under-performed. In order to facilitate the Smallworld game, football was invented. The rest, as they say, is history…
