0 Subject: [slightly] OT: ESPN.com Moving?!?

Posted by: RunNGun - [101222712] Wed, Feb 27, 2002, 12:27

Hey hey everyone...long time no-type :P :-)

I just read a "rumor" about ESPN.com moving out of Seattle and merging back into the "regular" ESPN in Bristol, CT.

Only reason I mention this is because I remembered someone on the boards that worked for them (BH, was it you?). Anyway, just wondered if there was any truth to this.

Seattle or Bristol. Where would you rather live. Not a tough decision. Bring on the rain.

They left and took the Almighty with them.

Oh, Delaware, I am now closer to thee was what Blue Hen was singing from the back of the Mayflower truck.

Obituary for ESPN.com

ESPN.com is closing its Seattle editorial office, striking yet another blow to the once-promising Seattle web-content industry. The sports-news site (one of the first websites to charge money for "premium" content) was one of the sites started by Paul Allen's Starwave company and later sold to Disney (which had already bought the ESPN cable channels). While the site bore ESPN's name and carried columns by ESPN commentators, the bulk of its content was written and edited in Seattle. Many of ESPN.com's 50 Seattle employees will be invited to move to a new New York office or to the ESPN channel's Bristol, CT headquarters.

Hopefully the MSN ads, and all other ads that make ESPN so bloated will not move too.

Seattle Zen, you dumbass. I haven't left yet. I'm still in Seattle. Though I was in Bristol for a two-week stay in December, I definitely still live in Seattle.

RSF is right. Bring on the rain.

RunNGun is wrong as well. As Seattle Zen's post states, ESPN.com was never part of the "regular" ESPN until a few weeks ago. And they sure as hell didn't offer anyone I know the chance to move to New York.

Why does this matter to you? Did it really warrant an entire post?

It's because BH is moving to within commuting distance of RotoGuru World Headquarters.

Aye carumba!!

Is blue hen the only one authorized to insult people and curse? Doesn't seem like forum standards to me. Just double standards.

Micheal, weren't you the guy who BUTT'ed all those threads the other day?

Yeah, and I was "banned" for it. At least I think that's why. How does that answer my question? Does it have to do with $$$. If you contribute you don't have to follow the sacred forum standards?

Why exactly did you BUTT all those threads anyway?

Blue Hen, you haven't left? What are you waiting for? ;)

I just thought since that string of bank robberies ended last month, you had obviously moved on. My bad.

Zen - nope. Maybe that's why you didn't return my calls; you thought I left.

Guru - commuting distance? It's a lot closer than that.

Micheal - how did you get banned? Is it possible to ban someone from Rotoguru.com? Cause if so, I have some other people who should probably be banned...

And yes, I'm the only one authorized to insult people. And it's physically impossible to curse on these boards.

Well, if it's physically impossible to curse on the boards, then there was a 183 post thread over nothing.

I don't know, ask Guru how I got banned.

I guess I did. Maybe I should ask "Why" is he allowed to curse and insult withour fear of the gurupie wrath?

Why does it matter?

Because he has been coming to the boards for about 5 years and he normally only insults those whom he knows and respects. Very rarely does he take a shot at someone that he is unfamiliar with. BH is the Jim Rome of Rotoguru.com, you love to hate him.

Not to mention the term "dumbass" has its own entry in the forum lexicon. Context is everything.

Quite honestly BH, it DOESN'T matter to me...like the inital post says, I heard (or read) about the move, and was inquiring as to its veracity.

To say I was "wrong", is just that itself...I didn't assert an opinion, I merely stated what I had found out (and then asked if it was true).

And I actually thought for a bit about why I stopped frequenting these boards.

Blue Hen is not the only person who is allowed freely to insult others. WAB also has immunity.

RnG - I didn't mean "wrong" in the sense of "get the hell off these boards" but rather in the "let me clarify that" sense. No disrespect intended. Except to Micheal.

And while I'd like to thank CanEHdian Pride for speaking on my behalf, I'd also like to clarify what he said. Some Gurupies I like to "tease" such as Mr. Pride, RSF, Zen, and Dan. But some Gurupies I genuinely dislike, such as Micheal, Todd, MJSBossman, and Twarpy.

And, for the record, I've only been here for about 4 years... Since January 98.
