They're up!
TSN Ultimate prices are loaded, but point stats still reflect the 2001-02 regular season. The schedule outlooks are based on the new regular season schedule, however, so you can begin to filter based upon opening schedules, if you wish.
Player pages still reflect last year's prices (and points).
As in the last few seasons, I plan to update the sartibles with points from preseason games (the first of which is on Oct. 6). I don't do this for other sports, but it seems to be helpful in Hoops, and with no baseball stats to track in October, I have the time to do this.
As always, please report any apparent glitches, including incorrect data, bad links, bad formatting, etc. |

I guess I should add that I've included a couple of selection options for multi-position players only.
If you select Guards and Forwards, you'll get anyone who is eligble for at least one of those positions. But if you select GF, you'll get only those who are eligible at both positions.

Now it'ok, but when I checked again I saw "Proj. Pts/$ Mil" (that I don't remember last year) in place of point/game!

Ah, I see the problem. When you're using the projection feature, Points/game disappears. It is supposed to replace pts/game/$mil with pts/$mil, but is replacing pts/game instead.
I'll fix that.

Sartibles now have preseason points.
Player pages are updated with preseason games.
Assimilator is not yet updated with preseason games. Will be soon.
I'm gathering updated codes to properly link many of the newer players to their pages at RotoWorld and RotoWire. I should have this done within the next day or so. I'll also set these up inside the player pages.

GURU, can you add Dan Gadzuric (UCLA) who is with the Bucks to the Sortibles?

He's already in the database.
Dan Gadzuric
However, the sartibles are based on position eligibility. Since Gadzuric is not (yet) listed in the TSN game, he won't appear.

Thanks for the preseason work Guru. It is reallty helpful, but can you still include stats from the 2000-2001 season in the sartibles? I'm doing a draft for a yahoo league and I like to look at players numbers farther back than one year. Thanks.

I think last year is still there under Point Period in the middle drop down.

2001-02 is in the sartibles, but 2000-01 is not.
You can see prior year individual player averages on their historical player pages. For example, here's Raef LaFrentz in 2000-01.
I know that this might not be as convenient as a sartible report, but given the limited utility, I don't want to stuff older data into the sartibles.

By the way, the Assimilator now is tracking preseason points, and the sartibles and the individual player pages should now have all links operational (to RotoWire, RotoWorld, etc.).
I haven't yet coded up the "Yesterday's points" page. I'm still trying to figure out how to approach this, since I sort it by position. Multi-position players create a dilemma. But I'll figure something out.

In the past, I've been asked whether I could incorporate minutes/game somewhere in the sartibles. I've resisted for several reasons:- I couldn't figure out how to do it in a useful way
- I wasn't sure that it was particularly relevant as a sortable stat
- The data was already captured on each individual player page, so that if you expected a certain player's minutes to change, you would have a basis to approximate the impact on that player.
Yesterday, jumpball suggested a way that might be helpful, at least for the preseason. In "column B", which provides a pts/game average for an alternate period, I have now added an option to show the minutes per game. This average relates to the period used to show the point information in the main columns.
While I still haven't produced any points/minute average, you can still get a sense of how many minutes a player is getting in order to produce the points. This might help you to better interpret preseason averages. And if you really want to get carried away, you can always copy the table into a spreadsheet and create averages to your heart's content.
Again, I'm not sure how widely useful this will be. But it's there now, so use it if you wish.

sortable stats (also linked in the "Other Hoops Pages" menus above and below).
Someone once referred to these as the "sartibles" (i.e., a typo), and the name stuck.

Go to the drop down menu (other hoops pages) and you'll see other tools there (except blue hen) like the sched-o-matic, assimilator and other neat stuff. If you haven't used them before you should start.

Guru, how can you copy the Sortibles into an Excel spreadsheet so all the data is in seperate columns? It's not in text format when I copy it.

Highlight the area that you wish to copy, and type control-C (or select "Copy" from the edit menu).
Open a blank spreadsheet, and paste the data. It will all appear in a single column at first.
Next, select "Text to Columns" under the Data menu. Choose "Fixed Width", click "Next", and make sure that the column breaks are properly aligned. Then click "Finish"

Or you could do it the difficult way and open the web page in excel, using a macro: read each line in, strip out the extra spaces, count the remaining spaces, load each of the data points in the line into an array, and then paste that data into a cell on the spreadsheet. Oye.

About another tool: the Optimizer.
Anyone able to run it with the Office XP version of Excel? There seems to be no "Solver" function in "Tools" so I don't know how to run it.

Solver may not be included in the default install of Office XP. You'll probably need to go to the 'Tools/Add-Ins' feature to get it loaded. It might ask for the disk.

Sometimes solver is not installed in the standard installation, and you have to add it. Look in the add-ins item under the tools menu, and see if it is listed as an available add-in.
If not, you might even need the installation CD (if you have it). I think you can select it or deselect it when the program is installed.

OK, what you both said was right, unfortunately it asked for the disk, which I don't have. Guess I'll continue to live without the Optimizer. Looked pretty nice though. Thanks still.

In all programs now, year-to-date stats now include only regular season games. However, 30, 15, and 7 day stats will include preseason games, if applicable.
I think all pages are now properly configured for the regular season. Please report anything that looks incorrect (values, headings, links, etc.)
I've also activated the Yesterday's Points page, which provides daily points sorted by position. Note that I've listed multi-position players according to their non-forward position. (GF are listed with the guards, and FC are listed with the centers.)
