Slow day on the Hoop boards. Good time for some OT that doesn't turn into a spelling bee or grammatical controversy.
Curious as to how many online gamers for PS2 are on the boards, and specifically who may sply SOCOM. The game is certainly a one of its kind masterpiece (in my book anyway. I'll send you a complimentary copy when it gets published). I love the large choice of "courses" and infinite strategies to employ. I have no idea why sometimes the headphones don't work, yet other times they do. Is that server related?
Anyway, happy gaming. Maybe we can get a gurupie battle together sometime. |

I can see why you didn't want this to be a spelling bee...would you like to sply some SOCOM tonight? LOL

Oops. See what I mean?
Hey, if I had anyone to cover my back last night I’d have reached MVP status. You were MIA bro. ;)

Hey MikeD, I'd like to play SOCOM, but will have to wait for it on XBox. I do have Splinter Cell, but haven't played in online yet. I've only played NBA and NFL 2K3 online so far which has been pretty cool.

Skinneej, man, I wish you could join us. The 8 on 8 gave me massive flashbacks to playing paintball. It’s awesome stuff. Borrow someone’s PS2.

I have a co-worker who's a game nut and has every current system - Xbox, PS2 and Gamecube plus he still picks up games for the Dreamcast. Maybe I can convice him to get the game and then have me over!!

i have yet to get my network adapter working... i think it has something to do with unplugging everything and reseting the connection. I will give it a shot when i get in around 11 pm tonight if anyone wants to play some Madden 2003...

Great One you would have to reset your modem and reboot the PS2 if you're not using a router. I got the Linksys 4-port router for $59.99 because I was too lazy to go through that all the time.
Unfortunately, you'll never see SOCOM on the Xbox, it's Sony's baby. It would be cool to get some cross-mojination going with Xbox owners though.

guess that would explain the problems i was having... all my computer stuff and ps2 are all sitting next to each other, so its not really a hassle to unplug and reset everything.

Great One, been there done that bro. Try powering off and having the PS2 power cord unplugged before connecting the Ethernet cord. That should work. If not, as Adam H said, just hit the reset button and attempt to connect a 2nd time. Should work.
I actually connected no problem one night, unplugged, went to connect the next night and couldn’t, even though it was reading my saved network configuration off my memory card. I got it to work again by doing the above steps again. Unplugging Ethernet cords has a very powerful effect. Kind of like unplugging a direct tv receiver. Akin to shutting down Windows.
Yup, a router would help. Some day.

MikeD, you were also switching from NBA Live to SOCOM and SOCOM's servers have become famous (or infamous) for having strange quirks...you may just be able to "hot swap" the cables when going to Madden/Live. (just something I remembered)

Well, yeah, that’s true too. Hard to say if the Live to SOCOM had any bearing on it. But the switch did take place 24 hours later, as opposed to 5 minutes later. (insert twilight zone music)
