Subject: Worst thing that could have happened to Bron

the media seems to think that LeBron and Cleveland are going to make a great match. Does anyone else think this is horribly off base. Doesn't seem like there will be enough basketballs to go around between him, Ricky Davis, and DMiles. I assume they will try and trade Miles, but who knows. Who is going to play point on this team? Certainly not LeBron. And finally, who is going to coach him? Getting Silas looks like the best option, but it looks like they are going with Van Gundy, who IMO is over-rated.
PS. Pistons with the second pick, thats just scary. |

My guess is that they will go with Lebron running the show if it seems like he can and let Wagner get alot more pt as a shooting guard since he was more of an iverson type little man then a true point. Then give Lebron the break and move in Ricky at the 2 and Wagner at the 1. The only problem is who plays the 3 imo. Jones is a free agent isn't he? Miles will be playing the 3 I think. If they can sell these 4 on sharing alot of pt in the 3 spots with obvioussly smush slidding in for some as well then they should be happy. You are very right about the coaching though. I think that Silas is the best man for the job. Someone needs to come in and sell them on a team concept. They also need to trade big Z for a center that can play with these up and down guys. Just my .02!

I agree that Detroit is the much more interesting story in this deal. The best team in the East will be able to improve their team right away. Who do they take? Carmelo to boost their scoring and athleticism, or Help Wallace rebound by taking Darko. Either way they will be a better team. Does anyone know whether they can get a scorer in the league currently? if they could, I think Darko would be the obvious choice. Is there any chance they could go after Arenas?
Wallace Darko Hamilton Billups Arenas
Bench: Okur, Prince, Curry, that other foreign guy...The big Nasty and Robinson....Deep and potent, while keeping strong defense.
How does this team struggle to rebound?

I 100% agree about the Pistons, that is a true Win-Win situation! Melo or Mililic! They can't go wrong, and will have a great chance to win the East again with either. Melo will have more of an immediate impact, but Mililic will most likely be better in the long run. They can't lose...I would take a chance for the future with Mililic though. However, I don't want to see Melo in DENVER! UGH.
I think Lebron is most likely happy about Cleveland!

I think Lebron could play point. He gets a smile on his face everytime he gets compared to Magic, and I think he would love to become that type of a player. The Cavs don't expect to win next year already, so they could let him spend the few years it would take to become a great point gaurd. I would expect Ricky Davis to be the one traded during the off season.

Especially if Jumaine Jones signs elsewhere, Ricky will be out and Darius will stay. They have no 3 if Darius and Jumaine go. I agree about Lebron at the 1. That's where he'll be I think.

Im hoping for Ricky Davis -> MEM for either Wright, or Swift + late second.
Would help both teams IMO.

Looks like the wolves are working to get him. Dont'know what they can offer but they want Davis. Maybe the cavs will be smart and get some vets and some pics for him. Get rid of him i say!

I've heard Zellie (that other foreign guy) isn't going to be back with the team. I think the injury was bad for him this year.

Yeah, I heard Wallys name being thrown around for him but I don't see that trade happening. CAVs need a PF.. Wolves dont have one :P

There is NO WAY this kid walks in and starts dominating the league. It's gonna be years before he does anything substantial. ALOT of veterans want to take his head off. GOOD LUCK to the OVERHYPED high school kid.

This kid won't dominate as much as some might think but use Amare as a model of what an NBA body on a HS phenom can do. Rookie of the year and dominated many a game! The only thing here is Lebron does not have the support around him. Amare did not have to dominate with Marion and Starbury there, I don't think that Miles, Davis, Wagner, Boozer, Z can provide the kind of leadership that Lebron needs to be able to just play his game. He'll feel pressure to deliver in a big way and he will flop some nights and produce others. I've already said that I think he'll be a 17 or 18 pts/ 7 ast/ 7 rbd guy as a rook. Unless someone comes out on fire he IS the rookie of the year and he IS putting up some veru impressive numbers and he IS going to be on the all star team. Probably voted in! Although at the guard in the east he will have some fierce competition with Tmac and Vince!

It'll be tough to produce--the wear and tear of a long NBA season is something many don't realize. But there will be no pressure to win, since the Cavs won't be winning much anyway.
They do, however, have a nice young squad, so they'll be entertaining even when they lose.

LeBron may get 18, 7 and 7, but he'll probably also have 4 turnovers a game. Not that it matters...he'll be the leading all-star vote getter by far.

Jordan '88-'89. 32-8-8
I don't know if he's the last to do it, but none of this years all-stars (except MJ) has ever done it. KG came close with 6 assist. I don't think LeBron will come close to 7 assists. Ricky Davis could only come up with 5 on that scrub squad and he played almost 40 minutes a game.

Pippen, 91-92.
It sounds like you think he'll be the next Magic or maybe just another Steve Francis ?

How quickly people forget... ;-)
Grant Hill in 96-97 : 21.4 pts, 9.0 rbds, 7.3 asts.
He also came really close the year just before and the year just after, finishing with "only" 6.8 asts. This guy was the total package.
From the same draft class, you also have Kidd who averaged 7+ in assists and rebounds two times, but he came short in points each time.
Also, it would be interesting to know how many players in the last 20 years or so matched the 30-5-5 Kobe and TMac averaged this year. There's Jordan, but I'm not sure about others.

Ricky didn't pass, Lebron will. Ricky can score, so can Dajuan and with an up and down game like them, the points and assists will be there. Will the boards be there is the only question I have. I think that they will. I know that he will be on one of my teams to start the next fantasy year off.

No way he touches those numbers. He's 18 years old! This is the NBA, best ballers in THE WORLD. No doubt he will be great if given some time, but these are the type of lofty expectations that can KILL a career. Anyone remember Chris Washburn?

Once every 5 or so years, a player comes along that can break onto the scene at an All-Star level. It doesn't happen often and only the rarest of talents can do it, but I think Lebron may be in the category. Previously I had thought it impossible for a rookie to really be that great but looking back, some of the most hyped and best players of the last decade really lit things up in their first year. Duncan - 22 and 12 as a rookie. Shaq - 23 and 14. Lebron is slightly different because he's coming straight out of high school but if Stoudemire can go for 13 and 9 as a rookie, I don't think 18, 6 and 6 is out of the question for Lebron on a team that that will give him free reign to do what he wants.

I guess we'll see...i have high expectations because he's coming into a scenario where he'll play unlike some of the other HS boys that have come in lately. He's athletic as hell. He's got great court vision and he's on a team that will get up and down the court. He'll play low 30 minutes a game on average for the season and will have at least one trip doub this season. I believ that he would be the first rookie to do that or am I wrong? He'll put up a ton of double doubles and if he doesn't have wuite that nice of numbers...it'll fall to maybe 15/6.5/6.5
Still pretty solid I think and still rookie of the year!

Don't forget that Andre Miller averaged double digit in assists on that same crappy squad. Bron will be better than Ricky davis, no doubt. I still think 18/7/7 is a stretch, but more due to going from under a 30 game season of 32 minute games to 82, 48 minute games at much higher competition. I am going to say 15/7/5 is more realistic as a rookie. I think Depending on where Carmelo ends up, he could do better in the first season, but I will be shocked if LeBron does not become legendary in the future...

Lebron going to cleveland only hurts him as far as rookie of the year, but cleveland has a better future than Melo and the nuggets, Dajuan wagner, Ricky Davis, Darius Miles, Chris Mihm, these are good players

34 JerryLewis LOL that was good! The biggest thing that pisses me off about Miles last year was this: I had my roster all set with G Hill and at the last moment I switched to Miles because I though I was nuts for thinking he sucked. I had read the boards for weeks and after a while I just though I would be nuts not to have him on my roster. I mean I did not see it but everyone else did. Then came the first week...UhhGG! I will stick to my players this year that is for sure! Oh and not that G Hill was the greatest. But he did produve for the first month very well and I would not have wasted a trade to dump miles and get hill.

Yea, Hill was OK for the first few weeks. Rubalamp, I don't see MILES improving. He's too skinny and doesn't like to mix it up inside so he's not going to get any boards. He doesn't shoot that well and commits alot of turnovers. All this was rehashed a million times last year on the boards so I'm not going to go any further. I don't think he was on anybodys fantasy team after the all-star break.
