0 Subject: Gilbert Arenas Guarantees Playoff Spot for Wizard

I definitely think they will. Him, Stackhouse, Hughes, Jarvis Hayes, and others all will thrive in the open court. Stackhouse will return to all star status, and Arenas will rise to that level. Whenever Arenas has been doubted, he's proved others wrong. It will be the same in this case.

That's ridiculous, IMHO. I hope he doesn't wear a size 14.

Only 7 weeks until the NBA regular season. Seems like we just finished a season.

The might just do it, but it's far too early to be predicting playoff spots for the Wizards quite yet.

The Wizards will be lucky to make the playoffs.

If they make the playoffs, it will be more based on the play of Hughes, Brown, Haywood, and Jeffries. Without these guys playing at a much higher level it will not matter how Arenas and Stack do. They have to be balanced. If Brown could even be as strong as Amare has been, and maintain that. Jeffries would have to comeback from the injury with a vengeance. Hughes will struggle to find his role with this team, but it could be great for him to only need to be a role player. Haywood could be a great big man in the East, but he has to prove it.

It will still be tough for Washington to make the playoffs even with the additions. Of the 8 Eastern playoff teams last year, only Milwaukee drops out as a premier team. The top 5 teams are solid (NJ, Det, Ind, Phil, NO), Orlando added a low post presence in Howard and Boston will still be in the thick of things as long as Pierce and Walker are healthy.

Of the non playoff teams, I think NY, Toronto and possibly even Chicago could battle Washington for that final spot. The Knicks lost their 2nd leading scorer and their intensity in the Spree trade, but they did get a scoring replacement (Van Horn) and whether or not McDyess can return and give them anything could make a difference. They got a steal in the draft with Lampe and Sweetney will give them another big body to go with Thomas, Harrignton and Weatherspoon. Toronto could be a solid team with a healthy Carter and Lammond Murray, Mo Pete getting his confindence back and the solid play of Davis and Alvin Williams. Pippen will join Rose and could help the youngsters in Chicago finally develop into a playoff caliber team. They closed last season winning 4 of their last 6 with quality wins against Ind, NJ and Philly.

The question in Washington is who is going to run the team. We know Hughes was not the answer, but can Gilbert distribute the ball and get enough shots for himself? Stackhouse is a go to player, but will he pout if he doesn't get 20 shots a game? Washington has no real post presence on offense but Kwame will get one more chance at showing he can play. Is a frontcourt rotation of Laettner, Haywood, Jahidi White and Brown playoff worthy?

an assumption like that is absurd.
Lets see if they can at least get above .500 before thinking about the playoffs?

Anyone else agree with me?

I agree with you. Washington SUCKS.

I don't know what the infatuation is with WASHINGTON on these boards? This is like the second or third thread where somebody said Washington is going to make the playoffs. Yea, Gilbert Arenas is going to turn the whole thing around. HA HA. That's funny.

Since when do you have to be above .500 to make the playoffs?
