0 Subject: Informal Poll on Roster Freeze Timing

I realize this is neither scientific nor binding, but I thought it might be interesting to get a broader perspective than what we have seen thus far in the Interesting... thread. Let's see if there is a "silent majority" out there that has not yet been adequately represented.

Let's hijack the ratings capability of this thread for the following poll:

Which TSN Hoops freeze proposal do you prefer?

1 - Same as last year (12 noon ET everyday)

2 - All slots freeze at the scheduled starting time of each day's first game.

3 - Each player is locked at the scheduled starting time of his team's game, with all other slots frozen at 11pm ET. (This is the TSN proposal.)

4 - Options #1 or #2 are OK, but not #3.

5 - Options #2 or #3 are OK, but #1 is unnecessarily restrictive.

But aren't you going to end up with an average that ends up around 3? Nice try GURU.

Maybe, maybe not. The average isn't the point. When you rate the thread you get to see the count for each possible rating.

Nice try, JERRY LEWIS.

What's to stop me from rating it (2) about 20 times?

Its not the average he is looking for, but rather the numbers for each individual number (does that make sense?) by clicking Rate It without any selection.

Rate it 2 as many times as you like. It only counts once.

Try it.

here is the exact wording in the rules. If this was posted in the other thread I apogize

At the start time of each game each day, any players on your team that are playing in that game will be frozen into your lineup for the day, and will be officially playing for you that day. After that point, you can't sell those players off your roster, or buy any other players that have been frozen, until 11pm ET that night, when all players become unfrozen again. You may still trade players that haven't been frozen yet

My question would be is if you have say Kidd with a 7:00 game and is a late scratch can you trade him? According to the way the rules are written, he isn't playing although his team is and he could be traded and this would need to clarified.

TSN, keep it simple a 12 pm roster freeze, this is played globaly

Seems to me a later freeze would be nice for guys that work for a living and don't have internet from say 5 or 6 in the morning till again 5 or 6. Will give these fella's a chance to check the late updates. I know last yearI took a contract job during the season that left me no chance to do late morning stuff, and I was screwed doing trades at night before games even started.

option 2, boy would it be nice to be able to come home from work and deal with it then, rather than the night before or in a rush trying to get out in the morning.

Guys,

Thanks for your input. We've weighed all our possible options and have decided to stick with our intended new Game Time Freeze rule.

The game is now open for business:
Ultimate Fantasy Hoops 2003.

Thanks,
Bernie H.

And for those buying be aware of:

"Residents of Montana, Vermont, Louisiana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Arizona, Florida, Maryland, Colorado and the province of Quebec may play, but WILL NOT be eligible to win or receive any prizes."

I think TSN is going to lose alot of customers with this game time trading decision.

It's getting too complicated to compete in this game. Guys who don't want to put in that much time are just going to say the hell with it. Maybe the EUROS too.

The EUROS get screwed again. They already have to pay and aren't eligible for prizes. If I was them, I wouldn't play.

The last 2 seasons there was only 5000 guys in Ultimate Hoops. Might be down to 4000 after this.

You made your point.

As a side note, I see that this year, the game is played with the support of Fox Sports. I bet there'll be quite more teams than last year.

FoxSports website is almost dead if I'm not mistaken. They fired all their CONTENT writers a few months ago.

Has anyone ever tried to apply a TSN credit? I have $12 and would like to apply it to my Ultimate Team purchase but cant figure out how to actually apply the credit.

I already emailed TSN but havent gotten a response.

Not sure if you've tried yet, but e-mailing ebarmack@sportingnews.com personally and you may get a quicker response.
