Subject: Season 1 Lowest Roster Value

Ok, I just created a Lowest Roster Value division for the basic game. The division name is "Rotoguru LRV" and there is no password. The rules are very simple. The team with the lowest roster value wins. Points do not matter and you are not allowed to buy any extra trades. We did this for both halves of baseball and it was a ton of fun. Season 1 came down to myself and J battling to the final week around 6 million and Season 2 was a battle between 12 teams (although I cannot recall who won, sorry).
So go ahead and create a team. It is a nice diversion from all the "serious" leagues that we all have. |

can't you just buy 6 guys at 500 K that won't get any playing time or ever even think of gaining money? What's the catch?

Roster Value includes TSND not spent. So 500K guys are exactly the guys you don't want on your team since they can't lose anything off of their prices.

right. The idea is to lose as much money as possible by the end of the season. So if I dont buy anyone or if I buy all 500K players, then I wont lose any money and thus, won't win. If I take 6 guys that will be in gravity each day, I will lose 120K a day. That is decent, but you can do better by rotating into injured or sucky players. It is actually harder than it looks.

I must of missed something. We're we doing a day late (or several days late) strategy here. I thought we'd all start on 10/28.
It's like you have 10 free trades.
Could I enter another team and use this strategy?

Not sure what you are talking about, but we started the same day everyone else did. Most people choose not to fill out a complete roster because they want to save roster spots for injured guys later in the season. You can use whatever strategy you would like in the league as long as you don't buy trades. Enter 15 teams if you would like- this division is just for fun anyway.

is it actually that hard to pick ppl who will lose big money? just look for the guys who are highly owned that have bad schedules coming up. And we all know who is injured...... I would imagine its much harder to find price gainers then price losers.

T-Mac: you are half right. The problem comes in with saving trades and getting into guys at the right time. If you don't play it right, you can end up with someone who was losing a lot of money stuck on your team suddenly start playing well again. Before you know it, he has gained several hundred K and then you ended up blowing 2 trades and didnt "gain" much.
It becomes even tougher later in the season when you have less than 10 million RV and you have to try to find people that will lose the remaining money when you can only afford to spend 700K.
It starts out pretty easy, but gets really challenging by mid season.

Yo Punk, you going to add some players to your roster?
So who is going to be tomorrow's biggest loser? Looks like Odom is losing steam. I bet a lot of Brand owners still have to dump him for the next price change.

LOL
There is still plenty of time to lose all your payroll. The first time we ever played, IIRC, we didn't start until maybe a month into the baseball season and the leaders all got down below 2 million. Then on the first basketball season many owners got down to 500K with time to spare. I haven't played in a while so maybe it's harder with the basic format in TSN then it was with smallworld.

Don't have chandler, but I do have Odom, who came back quicker than I thought. I'll wait a day and see what happens.
