i don't want to interrupt your virtual royal rumble, but should anyone please tell vilica to pick?with a pick a day it's becoming pretty slow, and it leaves space to "someone's" useless posts.....

beetski the only trade i would do for marbury should be walker+tinsley for him and finley (or dunleavy, or wagner or miles instead of finley....).....dunno if u r interested, but unfortunately that 2 are the only players i would take from you to upgrade my team in case of the lost of my main assist man.....

I'm either going to pick tonight, or tomorrow morning. I'm oncampus Monday/Tuesday from 7:30am till atleast 9:00pm, with very limited access to computers. I'm going through my rosters now, and I'll post my picks as soon as possible.

Yea, I watched him a ton in the NCAAs the past couple of years... I think Terry is more comfortable as a SG as opposed to a shoot-first PG, and that leaves an opening for Dickau.
|

oh ya, and good pick up in Dickau, I was hoping he would slip to one of the last picks...

Spyce, I read a report that indicated that Turkoglu is saying that he will be starting over Christie...I don't know how accurate it was, but Hedo sounded convinced it was a done deal...

youngbuck maybe..if you explain me the meaning of this word... anyway I read what happened in keeper league and I hope nobody will think to repeat it in this league. YB may be (or look, we doesn't really know each other) childish, but he loves to play as the others. And I think all these stupid trash talking (me first) will end with the beginning of the season and real games

RE:38 - good, i don't got Christie (although i did like him as a Raptor - too bad his wife was such a witch and she forced him back to the US - we almost lost AD the same way)
RE:36 - i don't really know what you want, what is your thesis? more specific questions?
i think TSak and Damon are both good 11th round picks - lots of upside for TSak and if Damon gets to start somewhere he can put up good numbers

damon starts for portland. even if mcinnis starts at pg, he'll start at sg over anderson. I couldn't pass 13,5 points, 4 rebounds, 6,5 assists and 1 steal per game in the 11th round.......and i needed a guard.

i think Damon is being shopped - at 5'10" he can't guard oppossing SGs - he will share minutes with Bonzi and will likely come out on the losing end - if Bonzi goes and not Damon then he could be a nice pick

Damon plays PG whcih right now also has Jeff McInnis and Antonio Daniels. It is hard to tell how the minutes are going to be distributed...

RE: #35
Pacers - Tinsley/RMiller/Harrington/O'neal/BMiller Clippers - Dre/Q/Odom/Brand/Olowokandi Sixers - Snow/Iverson/Van Horn/Coleman/MacCulloch Hawks - Dickau/Terry/Robinson/Abdur-Rahim/Ratliff Grizzlies - Williams/Battier/Gasol/Gooden/Wright Heat - Best/Jones/Butler/Grant/Mourning
Probably more, just not thinking too hard right now. Of course, some of these might not be the starting lineup, but they sure could be.

I think both of the Hawks and Grizzlies will have challengers to the starters you are projecting (Dermarr Johnson and Michael Dickerson). However, your projections could happen, but they are definitely not set in stone...

Villica just got stronger...
I debated taking Stackhouse in both the Third round and now I am punching myself since he was still available in the fourth. His numbers should blossom this season being the best player on a team he will be taught by Jordan.
I think Hamilton will have less of an impact on Detroit, but should still have decent numbers...

guys - i'm goin' away 'til the 23rd and won't be online at all - later on i will email one pick to Memphis - it is unlikely at this stage the pick will taken before my 12.11 - in the event it is you'll all have to wait (i really don't want to but a 5 pick list together)

Rubalamp, I saw that too. It was propably some fake post. Shall we discuss about trades while waiting for YB? I remember someone being angry for me taking Tim Thomas, any offers for Tim?

I am very content now with my team. If Damon Stoudamire does get traded, I think I have, by far, the strongest team. Even if not, Jeff McInnis should get enough minutes to help my assists.
I am open to offers, but I am pretty select on what I am willing to give up. I would say that Mobley and Divac are both tradeable given the right situation. I will entertain any offers, but I am very content to take this team into the season...
I do like Tinsley a lot...

It is the final round, This is ridiculous. I propose that he is skipped and can make his selection after everyone has picked. He only loses out on the option to get about 5 people total. I admit, the fact that it is Youngbuck who screws with everybody, makes it easier to do this to him.

By the way, what are we going to do to keep our threads active, while waiting for the season to begin. I guess that next month and a half will be very long.
Another thing, should we all put our e-mail addresses here, so we can discuss about trades by e-mail. In my opinion it would be better that way, because then other people can't comment those trades before they are done.

A thing that I meant about trades... Lets have an example... I make an offer to clach: Camby for Ming, then clach responds in the board that: Camby sucks, he is suffering a foot injury.
So then everybody sees that clach's response and it makes Camby very hard for trade after that. But if that negotiation were done privately, I could still offer Camby for Irri or some else, and they might be willing to do the trade by not knowing that Camby sucks..
And also this would prevent other people to make comments to clach, like don't make the trade, Ming is much more better player than Camby. In my opinion, it is between me and clach, whether we want to trade or not.
What do you think? By the way, my e-mail is can be found now under my name.

I think the rules contemplate a "veto trade": that's because for instance at mid-season lazio will be the last one and he can trade his best players to my opponent, just because he can't stand I win the tournament p.s. as you said Ming is much better player than Camby (who sucks, and he is suffering a foot injury, too), so I refuse the trade :-)

you are absolutely right about the right to veto. But I think we should be kind of careful in using that right. I think I'll use that only when it is obvious that both players are not seriously upgrading their team by trading. Every trade is ok to me as long as both parties think that their team becomes better after the trade.
p.s. Too bad that you informed everybody about Camby having a potential injury, makes harder to be traded, I guess that not many of us knew that ;)

Because I'm real bored, I decided to do an "objective" analysis (possibly with comments on my own team!) of the draft... so here goes nothing:
Spyce: 1.2 Shaquille O'Neal -- 2.11 Brent Barry -- 3.2 Rasheed Wallace -- 4.11 Rashard Lewis -- 5.2 Darrell Armstrong -- 6.11 Chauncey Billups -- 7.2 Kurt Thomas -- 8.11 Cliff Robinson -- 9.2 Morris Peterson -- 10.11 Mike Miller -- 11.2 Kerry Kittles -- 12.11 Ilgauskus
Well rounded team, both Cliffy and Ilgauskus were steals for big men, Billups late 6th, Lewis and Armstrong might've been picked a bit high, got injury concerns with both Shaq and Ilgauskus, and the mandatory Sheed T watch.
beebop: 1.3 Jason Kidd -- 2.10 Pau Gasol -- 3.3 J. Mashburn -- 4.10 Mike Bibby -- 5.3 Antonio Davis -- 6.10 Lorenzen Wright -- 7.3 Rip Hamilton -- 8.10 Richard Jefferson -- 9.3 Radmanovich -- 10.10 Michael Redd -- 11.3 Iakovos Tsakalidis -- 12.10 Kelvin Cato
Very, very solid team. I like R.Jeff @ 8, but the last four picks seem uninspired compared to the rest. Should be competitive.
Lazio: 1.4 Chris Webber -- 2.9 Vince Carter -- 3.4 Stephon Marbury -- 4.9 Michael Finley -- 5.4 Antawn Jamison -- 6.9 Juwan Howard -- 7.4 Darius Miles -- 8.9 Dajuan Wagner -- 9.4 Dunleavy, Jr. -- 10.9 Todd Maccullough -- 11.4 Damon Stoudamire -- 12.9 Penny Hardaway
Lazio's got the all-upside team, the all-overpaid team, and the all-injured team. Carter seems ready for leadership, C-Webb hopefully won't get convicted of a felony, and he's got Starbury and Jamison. He's basically punting assists, but he's should be really strong in points.
Jukka: 1.5 Kevin Garnett -- 2.8 Jermaine O'Neal -- 3.5 Jason Terry -- 4.8 Marcus Camby -- 5.5 Kenyon Martin -- 6.8 Bonzi Wells -- 7.5 Tim Thomas -- 8.8 Nick Van Exel -- 9.5 Gilbert Arenas -- 10.8 Ricky Davis -- 11.5 Eddy Curry -- 12.8 Eddie Griffin
I disagree with Camby in the 4th, otherwise a really solid draft
Youngbuck: 1.6 Tracy Mcgrady -- 2.7 Abdur Rahim -- 3.6 Steve Nash -- 4.7 Eddie Jones -- 5.6 Elden Campbell -- 6.7 Jayson Williams -- 7.6 Shane Battier -- 8.7 Lamar Odom -- 9.6 Scottie Pippen -- 10.7 Kenny Thomas -- 11.6 Radoslav Nestorovic -- 12.7 Shammond Williams
Very eclectic draft, can't really argue with any of the picks, but it doesn't really seem to come together.
Rubalamp: 1.7 Dirk Nowitzki -- 1.12 Ben Wallace -- 2.6 Ray Allen -- 3.7 Sam Cassell -- 5.7 Cuttino Mobley -- 6.6 Donyell Marshall -- 8.6 Vlade Divac -- 10.1 Quentin Richardson -- 10.6 Brian Grant -- 11.7 Al Harrington -- 12.1 Jeff McInnis -- 12.6 Amare Stoudamire
Very strong 1st four picks, got lucky with Mourning. I expect a high finish.
beetski: 1.8 Paul Pierce -- 2.5 Antoine Walker -- 3.8 Raef Lafrentz -- 4.5 Danny Fortson -- 5.8 Latrell Sprewell -- 6.5 Jamaal Tinsley -- 7.8 Terrell Brandon -- 8.5 Drew Gooden -- 9.8 Nene Hilario -- 10.5 James Posey -- 11.8 Tyrone Hill -- 12.5 Troy Hudson
Looks just like Youngbuck's draft after the 1st two picks, no direction. I like Nene @ 9.8 though. Probably one move away from contending for the title, though.
Memphis Fan: 1.9 Baron Davis -- 2.4 Shawn Marion -- 3.9 Antonio McDyess -- 4.4 Michael Olowokandi -- 5.9 Doug Christie -- 6.4 Grant Hill -- 7.9 Theo Ratliff -- 8.4 PJ Brown -- 9.9 Travis Best -- 10.4 Dale Davis -- 11.9 Larry Hughes -- 12.4 Stromile Swift
I seem to be saying solid a lot. McDyess might've gone a bit high, Hill and Ratliff are both injury risks, but otherwise I like 'em all.
Hang Time: 1.10 Kobe Bryant -- 2.3 Andre Miller -- 3.10 Wally Szczerbiak -- 4.3 Dikembe Mutombo -- 5.10 Allan Houston -- 6.3 Glenn Robinson -- 7.10 Keith Van Horn -- 8.3 Vin Baker -- 9.10 Brad Miller -- 10.3 Ron Artest -- 11.10 Desmond Mason -- 12.3 Tyson Chandler
Van Horn at the end of the 7th was a steal, good late picks to shore up some weaknesses (except in assists); should be competitive.
Mr. Nice Guy: 1.11 Gary Payton -- 2.2 Elton Brand -- 3.11 John Stockton -- 4.2 Peja Stojakovic -- 5.11 David Robinson -- 6.2 Andrei Kirilenko -- 7.11 Wesley Person -- 8.2 Alvin Williams -- 9.11 Keon Clark -- 10.2 Mark Jackson -- 11.11 Robert Horry -- 12.2 Vladimir Stapania
Robinson, even at 5.11, was a horrible pick. Debated taking Horry a lot, but he's not going to play enough in the early part of the regular season. Stepania, if he does anything as a starting C, is servicable.
clach: 2.1 Allen Iverson -- 3.12 Jalen Rose -- 4.1 Yao Ming -- 4.6 Alonzo Mourning -- 5.12 Reggie Miller -- 6.1 Jason Richardson -- 7.7 Emanuel Ginobili -- 7.12 Tony Parker -- 8.1 Michael Jordan -- 9.7 Shawn Kemp -- 9.12 Anthony Mason -- 11.12 Derrick Coleman
Unfortunately, somebody has to come in last, and, my preseason prediction is clach. Jordan's not gonna play more than 30mins a game, I don't think, Coleman's out, and Mourning's out. However, since I'm assuming he does have the first waiver priority, there is still hope. :)
And now, my draft.
1.1 Tim Duncan -- 2.12 Steve Francis -- 3.1 Karl Malone -- 4.12 Jerry Stackhouse -- 5.1 Jay Williams -- 6.12 Jamaal Magloire -- 7.1 Caron Butler -- 8.12 Eric Snow -- 9.1 Juan Dixon -- 10.12 Corliss Williamson -- 11.1 Dan Dickau -- 12.12 Rodney Rogers
Francis seems totally recovered from his migraine problems, Stackhouse is in DC, I feel Magloire is ready to bust out this year, but I'm relying on a lot of rookies. Jay Williams, Butler, Dixon, Dickau... 4 of them, Dixon probably my worst pick of the draft. I like my two late round PF pickups, both will see significant time.
In conclusion, I think it'll be a nice race between myself and Rubalamp for the league championship, but anything can happen. Best of luck to all, and I hope I didn't come across as condenscending in my analysis/critique of each person's draft.

Constructive criticism is always highly appreciated. I said it earlier that I'm not totally happy with my draft. But in my opinion, there were some very good picks also. Garnett was excellent pick (1.5), also Ricky Davis (10.8), Kenyon Martin (5.5) and Tim Thomas (7.5) could turn out to be real deals.

With Mourning I'd consider my team as an interesting underdog, now it's on paper clearly the last (result of being last in pick order too). So if I finish 11th will be a success. But be careful of my guys: the have talent, the are all motivated and they believ in their coach :-)

basicall the trade is diveded into three parts
Exel - J-Will Thomas - Abdur-Rahim
Camby - Nesta
First off Jason williams is more vaulable than exel at this point. Exel is fighting for minuets in Dallas, on the other hand Williams is on probably gonna have his best season as a pro.
Second, Thomas for Rahim? thats deserves no explanation.
Third, Cotton Camby is better than Nesta when he AINT injured.

Well clach you asked and you shall receive. SMU= Southern Methodist University . It is a fine school but don't let the "Methodist" fool you (it isn't a religious school). The main reason I am going is (to quote Robin Williams in the film Good Will Hunting)"I gotta go see about a girl." Unfortunately it isn't going as I had hoped so I am currently seeing a Psychiatrist/Psychologist because of possibly being depressed (There is a health center on campus which is free to all students for mental/physical health which is sweet.) Thinking of studying Business. Favorite team: Tough call. I used to be a fair weather fan, I'll admit, but now I like the hard luck teams and darkhorse teams. It usually changes from year to year. Like last year I would say I heavily rooted for the Pacers and Raptors to take the 7 and 8 seeds and bump the Bucks out. I predicted that the Celtics would do really well last year, but the Pistons/Nets were a shock.

Lots of reasons I like Gasol, one being he plays for Memphis. But even without including that, if you've ever seen him play it doesnt matter if the Grizz are down by 50 or up by 5 (because we all know they dont go up by 50 :) Heh. He still plays 110%. I met him once on the street and he was generious enough to stop and give me an autograph.
He reminds me of the days when Stars were in it for the game more than the money. His playing for Spain in the Worlds only reitereated this point to me. I find his personality refreshing. (You can keep Spree! We dont need any more 'chokers' on the Grizz!)
Excerpt from an interview yesterday:
But when it was all over, someone asked Gasol if he was ready to begin his second season.
He lit up the way only he can, smiling from his chin to his eyebrows.
"I can't wait," he said.
It was downright contagious.
.. And then there is his talent, I think he's one of the best rookies to come along in a long time. He added 25 lbs this summer, cant wait to see him in action!

"(You can keep Spree! We dont need any more 'chokers' on the Grizz!)". MF, that's bullsh!t. Don't bring that up. We all know the story, and if you take it out of context it is a whole lot different.

That's crap. Sprewell's coach was a racist bastard. If you were black and being hastled by a white coach calling you NIGGER, I bet you'd do the same. Don't BS me.

Carlissimo isn't a racist bastard. But even if he was/is, thats no reason to strangle him. Basketball is a business, if my supervisor called me a honky I would have enough common sense to refrain from attacking him.
AND! To top it off, if memory serves correctly, the knucklehead (Spree) not only strangled. But left, came back, and punched him. Im a little tired of the racism card always being used when your caught doing somthing stupid. His sleezeball lawyer no doubt tried to save his tail with it. There is a reason the NBA suspended him and the Warriors terminated his contract. If Spree had any kind of legal case, he would have won his suit. There was an investigation.
But hey, to each his own. Spree just wouldnt be my choice, even tho he is the only saving grace in NY the last couple years.

It's all good, but I just think that people should stop bringing up old sh!t. It's like saying that Clinton once smoked pot. Who the hell cares? He's different not, just like Spre is different.

Frank Isola of the New York Daily News reports that the Knicks will be holding on to Latrell Sprewell… for a while. After almost being traded to the Bucks for Glenn Robinson earlier this summer, Sprewell will come into training camp with the Knicks.
According to a friend who spoke to Sprewell within the last two weeks, Sprewell said he was excited about playing for his hometown Bucks. He also laughed at the irony of the Knicks trading him to finally add size to their roster. "He thought it was a done deal," the friend said. "He was ready to move on."
