mem, i really like your team, but it seems just a little soft at F.....would you pick one with your next pick? i'm soft there too and it seems there are just other 2 or 3 picks at F that are worth a choice now......i'm a bit worried about it....aren't you?

i even need another good guard, and it seems easier there. So, this F's run seems to be the factor of this 2 rounds......and it's really probable that it should generate a really decisive factor on a lot of teams.
beetski for example should be really bad there even if great at G.......i think i will balance my team a bit, just to don't be too penalized.....
if only blookie would pick.....

there are PLENTY of good F's left out there. Most people look for rebs out of their F's. You can get that from ur C. u need Asts form G;s and pts come from all around. If I have 4 solid players at G they should get me pts and asts and let my C;s do the rebounding. Donyell Marshall and Peja aint gonna get too may rebs even if they are F.Because lazio was able tog et francis somehow he should be pretty solid, i dotn expect Beebop or Blooki to do to much Kiwi looks good and whoever has garnet shoulkd do well. I should be somewhere in the middle if i get some decent guys next.

if danny fortson would be traded
if damon stoudamire would be traded
the 1st one is a direct if, the second is about other players in his actual team......
maybe we started this draft too much before the season......we should have waited at least the training camps.......or not?

I have a question... if a team ends up with more than 13 players at the end of the draft (due to trading of draft picks), then how soon do they have to cut their roster back to 13? Or do they have to cut someone before making their last pick (or else forfeit the pick, since as soon as they picked their roster becomes illegal and the attempt to add player #14 fails)? The other option would seem to be that you can carry more than 13 players for a period during the off-season (if so, how many, and how long?). The problem then is other teams will snap up free-agents right and left until whatever date we set to cut rosters back to 13. It would seem the easier option is just to say the 13 player limit (not counting IR) is in effect at ALL times, and thus you can't draft 14 players. Right now this only affects one team, but just curious what other folks thought.

I know its dumb but itd be interesting cause it may come up

I think I should still be 'entitled' to picking, I just can't keep 13 players on my team. For instance... say when we're at the beginning of the 13th round. News comes in that McDyess is out for the season. I should be allowed to pick since the pick hasn't passed yet. However, if the 13th round has finished and at the time when my pick was up, I opted to keep my already-filled roster, I would I guess waive the pick and beetski will simply pick and essentially skip me.

Post 42 makes since to me Blooki... you still have rights to your round 13 pick, but unless you cut someone or have someone on IL then you won't be able to take advantage of it (but if you do, then you can).

beetski - no, I don't think you can do that beetski... like Blooki said, there could be a trade, and it's someone already taken. Or, I might decide to take Darrell Armstrong... regardless of whether he's starting PG or playing as a 6th man. You have to pick an actual person, not an abstract position.

If Lewis goes to dallas, Najera will probably back him up. Finley could also get time at the SF spot if they decide to play Nash at the 1 and Nick the Quick at the 2 during some stretches like they have before.

Haven't heard of Van Exel going to Boston. Doesn't work under the cap unless it includes Baker, Walker, or Pierce. Hope you're not spreading false rumors to pimp players that you have no interest in... :)

One Big NEG. of this trade for me other than the fact i lose 2 picks staright and dont pick till round 11 when its basically find a crunk player left is that unless we go through rd 8-9-10 REALLY FAST, i lose any kind of knowledge with any current events, like a rashard deal or summin like that

well, i'm pretty happy with my draft right now:
i've the absolute center's combo, the 2nd best roster at G, but i really need a boost at F but i don't really care because i should be pretty locked at reb and blocks with my centers.
i'm quite high at steals and should be decent at %. now if only fortson and wells could be traded....

Beetski... I was just observing that you would have 9 of your 10 starters while the rest of us only have 7. Of course, you have to wait a couple rounds extra to fill the last spot, but I think it's not too bad a price to pay at this point... the diff. between round 9 and 11 won't be that much (compared to diff. between rounds 1 and 3, or 7 and 9, etc... players get more and more similar as we go through the draft). I'd definitely do it if i were you, so I was just complimenting you on good maneuvering!!!

Id be pretty surprised if blooki denies my trade. I think its a pretty good offer, Obvs I would be able to get 9 decent guys and a 10th who sucks while blooki would be able to get good depth at any postion he wishes. He increases depth, I increase my #'s. we'll see what he says

I forgot Hakeem hasn't retired yet. Assuming he stays on, Antonio should be PF, not C. But Cliff is C, Big Ben is PF. So I don't see how Cliff would qualify. (Doesn't mean he won't, I'm just saying that wouldn't make any sense to me).

Why are so many players multi-position eligible (for fantasy purposes) when they don't actually play that other position 99% of the time? It seems to dilute the whole purpose of having roster restrictions at all... there's too much flexibility, IMHO. Again, I understand it in the real-world sense, just not in the fantasy sense. I've also been out of hoops a few years so there's gonna be some mistakes on the grid... don't worry about it. It's not like this is anything official. Just a way to help you see if someone has been drafted already. Try not to worry TOO much about the positional stuff (but it does help give a general idea of who needs what).

I don't follow Lazio... no Util spot... what does that have to do with centers? Were you going to start 3 centers? lol... it just means you can't load up with 5 guards, for example (unless you use G-Fs like Carter or Spree). Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but no util spot seems to have no bearing on Cs whatsoever that I can tell.

it HAS.
if you've 2 util spots you can easily eliminate the disadvantage to don't have stud centers, by using the util spots and playng with 4 decent, or with F strong at rebounds and blocks. Plus it allows you to draft unidimensional players, like for example foyle for the blocks, to win categories......

So Ben Wallace who you claim plays PF can be F-C, but Clifford Robinson who you claim plays C can't be F-C? C'mon... if anything, Ben Wallace is more of a C than Clifford Robinson.

Also... last I heard, Sabonis was a shoe-in to be signed. That Sheed at C seems more questionable than Robinson or Davis at PF.

They allow for multi-positional eligibility for two reasons...
(1) Most of these guys actually play multiple positions when different lineups are on the floor. Heck, some even play more than the two position maximum that Yahoo allows.
(2) It makes fantasy hoops more playable. If we want to adhere strictly to how the real game is played, then why don't we implement a minute limit as well as a game limit? Why are we allowed to draft from multiple teams? Multi-positional eligibility makes the game more fun if done properly and I don't think Yahoo has diluted the rules down so far to the point where anything goes.

Lazio - thanks for clarifying. I see what you mean. With the number of multi-positional players out there though, it seems you should still be able to add someone like Foyle (given Yahoo's loose positions, I bet Yao might qualify as a F, since he shoots outside... just like Uncle Cliffy, who apparently also qualifies as F).

Blooki - I agree some multi-positional eligibility is fun if done properly, it's just a matter of preference as to what the right amount is. Personally, I happen to think that the yahoo interpretations are loose (for fantasy purposes... whether they occasionally play out of position in real life is not relevant to me... fantasy is a game with it's own set of rules), but that's just my two cents. Everyone has their own take. So I'm very glad that we have the extra F/G position rather than extra 2 Util. positions, for example, because it at least provides a _little_ bit of consistency between rosters. What it comes down to is that I think it's more challenging (and therefore more fun) to draft a team when there are positional constraints, but the more multi-position players there are, then the more diluted the restrictions become. If EVERYONE qualified at 2 positions, then we could just as well throw out roster restrictions altogether. It's just a matter of degree and a question of personal preference. I understand -WHY- they allow multi-positional eligibility, I'm just saying that for fantasy purposes it seems too loose to me. YMMV.

Anyway, like I said before, I've been out of fantasy hoops for a few years... Sheed used to be a C, now he's a PF. I'm just going based on the various depth charts that all show Big Ben at PF and Cliff at C, hence the confusion. And I'll reiterate, don't worry about where your player is listed on the chart... it's just a reference... nothing definitive.

thanks Blooki...i didn't think B.Grant would last the next round, with Lazio, Memphis Fan and Doug needing to fill in gaps at the FORWARD position. B Grant will be eligible at F and should move into the starting Center spot on Miami, now with Zo out. B. Grant had excellent production the year Zo sat out and was diagnosed. B Grant is still a bit undersized, but i LOVE his work ethic.

Actually, talonted... first word I heard after the Zo announcement was that they would have Stepania starting at C, and leave everyone else in position. Have you heard otherwise? Or just speculating? Just curious...

Also, TSN (yech) just announced hoops, and though I'm not playing it, I do like how they're determing positions... a player had to START at least 5 games last season at a position in order to be eligible for it (in terms of initial, preseason eligibility). Of course, this doesn't apply to rookies. Of course, if a player start 5 games at a different position during the season, they instantly gain eligibility at that position in addition to whatever they were initially. I don't know if this is how Yahoo! will do it, but I hope so... it makes sense to me.

First of all i took MJ because he's the best overall basketball player in the draft, no matter what round, he can play SF. Ratliff, Cliff and Davis can all play PF. I didnt take spree, fort or odom like I told doug I was going to because Davis and Cliff dont really block shots, ratliff is a dominant guy in the east coast paint. FORT, ODOM AND SPREE dont block for poop

ok, this pick will disappoint someone, and it's really a big risk: if he would be traded he should be a great steal, if he's traded to a east team he should be the greatest steal of the draft, for the moment he's the 4th rebounder of the league, and even if it's a risk i can't pass on him, because i need Forwards......so:
8.10 Danny Fortson

beetsky, fortson, if traded to a eastern team should average something like 16 points, 12 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal.
he's still young and has the presence in the paint to be a great fit for an eastern team like, for example, philadelphia, where PF are always injured......

wow, going for a guard and i would really love to pick hughes, but WAS seems just too deep at PG with whitney, lue and dixon, or at SG with stack and MJ, so hughes will see really little ball handling this year.
So i need your sincere help to choose between these options:
1)darrel armstrong: hill back, with miller in and tmac at SG he'll have to battle with vaughn....
2)eric snow: nice assist ratio but he's injury risk.....
3)alvin williams: i would have already choosed him if i didn't already have carter.....
4)allan houston: points and no more, but maybe with a new better team around he should pass the ball more effectively.....

so, who would you pick?
