New Rule:

If you leave a queue on Kafenatid, anyone who's a DP can make that pick with no hesitation if you have not left them an email or a post on the board with some kind of guideline saying otherwise.

note: I'll be calling CJ for his picks so our 4 picks should go pretty quickly if he's available to pick up his phone.

I had a 2 man queue set up.

1. Kirk Hinrick
2. Starbury.

I would have preferred Hinrick, but I'll pray that Starbury plays more like his pre-Larry Brown days under Thomas.

wolfer is back up.

Got lucky with CJ being at work. He said he would have taken Boozer had he been home and had a chance to study the list.

Happy to get a couple of good centers this far down and still have a good backcourt too.

Leaving about 3:30 today. No access tonight. I'm going to leave enough Q's for both picks although I would love to make them myself. I'll return around midnight. If it doesn't kill too much time (an hour maybe?) maybe my DP's can leave one or both for me. This draft is flying along so I don't want to hold it up if people are still around and picking by then.

-twice now Wiggs and WK have taken my top two Q's.(Duncan/Nash Artest/JSmith) Its officially your fault I'll be scambling to get back here tonight :)

3 - I had Hinrick, Starbury, then Felton / Okur.
So I took Felton, and wolfer took Okur ):
And Farn didn't fall for the run on PG's so he took 2 centers ...

Oh well back to the draft board.

Sorry about the delay. I couldn't decide between 2 players. The other player I was looking at would have taken my team in a significantly different direction. I guess I'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

Thayer said he's going to be gone until midnight...so his DP should probably just go directly to his queue eh?

...provided Wiggs makes his pick in a timely manner of course...

Wow. Addicted, I had hoped Kaman was going to be available to me 5.07 but no such luck. Was surprised to still have Jefferson around at that stage, so although I need a center, Jerome James will have to wait.

The draft is moving pretty fast. I'll be out for a couple of hours tonight starting at about 7:00 est. The way the picks are flying and with several ways my roster could go, I'll hold off leaving a queue for now. If a pick does come back to me in that time, everyone take a beverage break, I won't be long. I see another pick has already been made behind me. Maybe I'll be selecting again before I go out.

I am seeing a queue from Jack Hammers. I shot him a text message just to verify he wants the guy its showing. I'll give him another 15 mins and make the pick at that point. And rheo left a queue so his 2 will go fast and then another from Jack Hammer.

So in the next 20 mins the next 4 picks will go. So do not go far and be prepared to pick.

I was adding Miller and Hamilton and then was like where did they go from my que. Then haa some picks must have been fired off. Was hoping to see miller available for my next pick. This is going to be a really deep draft. We are not even half way through, but the talent is half of where we started.
What are the chances this gets back to us tonight Farn?

I think it gets back to us tonight. I'd be surprised if it doesn't reach us before the midnight draft pause.

Based on the current rate, I'm leaning towards a full draft pause from Friday at midnight until Monday at 7am. We are going very well and I'd rather not force people to make picks on the weekend. Obviously I'd like to see at least a full round completed on the weekend but I don't want to force people into losing a weekend.

I'm thrilled with our speed after a slow and shaky start to the league.

I think it will slow down on the weekend though. I'm almost positive I'll turn on the draft pause for the weekend which will undoubtedly have managers thinking they don't need to make a pick and cool things off. No big deal, we are moving along very well.

wolfer lives in the central time zone so I doubt he's done for the night. CJ, I'd say if you leave at least a 2 man queue to get through your first pick you should be able to make the 2nd pick by morning before you leave the house.

Just make sure you leave instructions for any queue you set up incase you leave 2 guys and the 2nd is there after I pick.

My goal for the weekend is 2 full rounds. That would leave us with 5 rounds left to draft by the time Monday starts.

As a word of warning, I'll be out of town for a wedding this weekend but I should have internet access. I'll be back Sunday night and available all day Monday before I leave early Tuesday morning for a full week on business. While I'm gone for a week internet access will either be extemely limited or non existent. So....

Frick, I really was hoping for Granger. It seems the last few rounds, all my targeted players get scooped up one or two picks in front. Great minds thinking alike I hope.

Farn, in terms of availability tonight through the weekend I'm pretty good. Other than overnights, I may have an hour or two here and there that I'll be away, but around for the most part, certainly able to access the draft regularly. At the pace we've been going, I think finishing up by Monday night is a real possibility.

I've struggled with my last several picks also. I usually have 3-4 guys that I can't decide on. I wouldn't be suprised to see 1 of them make it back to me on the short turns, but I debate on which one will make it back.

For the Granger pick I decided I would rather pick a Pacer and have atleast 1 on my team.

i'm checked into the hotel and of course they put me in a room where the wireless signal doesn't reach. I ask to be moved and they tell me all the rooms are booked but if I want to walk all the way to the other side of the hotel i can sit in the lobby and the signal strength will be great.

Just because he has a spine made of wet tissues. I had him last
year and the constant DNPs drove me nuts, if he plays 70 games he
will be a steal.

Sorry guys, I have Ben Wallaces replacement on my team. Antonio
McDyess. He isn't flashy, but he put up solid numbers as the 6th
man last year and I see an increase in minutes and stats for him
this year.

WC, I like Livingston. I had him last year, and his performance certainly didn't warrant where I selected him, I believe he will be a good player in the NBA. However, I don't see Son of Sam Cassell willingly giving up minutes, and they have some depth at the 2 and 3 positions where Livingston could also see time. I don't think his productivity is the issue, it will be his minutes. Good luck.

McDyess and GHill were both on my short list of players for late round sleepers.

As for Livingston I think you will continue to see improvement this year.
I followed the Clippers pretty close last year and the were times when you could see absolute brilliance from him.
There were other times when he was a basket case.
Keep in mind he is only 21 and in his 3rd year.
Most players who make great strides in their game in their sophomore years make even bigger strides their 3rd year.
Dunleavy will find a way to get him his minutes.
I know DNPs are very annoying in the TSN game but in this format is it that big a deal?

From the Yahoo site:
10/12/06
Update: Livingston is expecting to make more of a contribution this season, the Los Angeles Times reports. "It's going to be a big year for the team, that's the most important thing, but I want it to be a big contribution year from me," said Livingston.

Recommendation: Livingston has gained weight and added muscle during this offseason in an effort to help his durability over the 82-game season. He also spent much of the summer working on his jump shot. He was injured at the beginning of last season and coming in to camp healthy this year should also help with his development.

At that point when you have definative proof he's out for a while you can make the move.

I have a player (Bogut) who is expected to start the season on the IL. I think we need to specifically define when the season starts (date and time), to establish when replacement players can be picked up. I take it that it will be a free agency situation, no order to select, just a free for all.

Simmons to miss at least a month because of heel injury

October 14, 2006

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Simmons will miss at least a month because of a stress reaction in his right heel, the team said Saturday.

Simmons was injured at practice Monday. He averaged 13.4 points and 4.4 rebounds last season after signing with the Bucks as a free agent before last season.

I will see if there is anything in the RIHC thread about the subject.

interesting.

of course to put a guy on the IL you'll need solid proof that a guy is out for a lengthy period of time. Obviously Simmons would qualify based on the above story. Not sure Bogut immediately qualifies.

From Rotoworld:

Bobby Simmons will miss at least a month because of a stress reaction in his right heel, the team said Saturday.

Simmons was injured at practice earlir this week. Milwaukee could start the regular season without two of their starting frontcourt players. Andrew Bogut is also out four-to-eight weeks. The good news is that Simmons should be able to be had late in fantasy drafts, which means he could be a bargain.

As well as this:

Andrew Bogut will likely miss the beginning of the season with a lower left leg sprain that is expected to sideline him for six to eight weeks.

Bogut was helped off the court during a team scrimmage on Saturday after banging his leg into Steve Blake's knee. The Bucks originally believed he was day-to-day, but the injury has turned out to be much more severe. Dan Gadzuric and Brian Skinner will take most of Bogut's minutes for at least the first couple of weeks of the regular season.

Are we going to have a ruling on the IS drafted players prior to the season?

I only ask because if we are we need to determine the methodology of saying who is injured.

My personal thought would be to keep all players on waivers until 2-3 days before the season, declare which players are eligible for the IS and then run waiver claims. I can't I would have changed my draft strategy, but grabbing a player who was IS eligible in the 14th or 15th round knowing you could grab a FA immediately might have been a smart move. Alternatively if we run waivers now and a player gets injured between now and the start of the season, having open FAs gives a huge heads up to whomever hears the news first. During the season that is part of the game, but with other drafts still going on, I'm inclined to lend my support to having all players on waivers for now.

I'm changing my team name to "The Walking Wounded".

All from Rotoworld:

Chris Kaman sat out Tuesday's exhibition game with a sore shoulder.
The injury isn't thought to be serious, so he should be in there on opening night when it counts.

Sam Cassell sat out again tonight with a calf injury.

The Knicks are now saying that Jared Jeffries will probably miss 6-8 weeks with a broken wrist.

Paul Pierce (hip) is with the team, but isn't likely to play in Tuesday's preseason game in New York.

Fred Jones injured his right hand on Sunday while attempting an amazing dunk.

Brevin Knight is likely still two weeks away from returning from a sprained ankle suffered in last Tuesday's preseason game.

Rockets guard Bonzi Wells, who had been working his way back from last season's torn groin muscle, missed last Wednesday's practice because of a root canal procedure.

Frustrating to say the least. I know everyone has injury-prone & injured players, It's part of the game. At this point, I'll have one (hopefully only one) player on IR come opening night.

Addicted, hopefully the pre-season will be the worst for your injuries. Here's a glass half full approach to your roster. With a number of your players resting nagging injuries during the preseason, they are not in a position to reinjure themselves in preseason games before opening night. As I sat with Okafor and Maggette all of last year, and with Gerald Wallace and Grant Hill in this years lineup, I can feel your pain.

Yeah,
Last year I sat on Amare almost all year.
I really hope Amare returns back to form though.
He's been up and down this preseason.
The frustration of this year is picking up a player that's not known to be injury prone and then he get's injured.
I had the same thing last year with Ginobili.

The good news is that it looks like Fred Jones might play tonight.

What's everyone's feeling on Brezec? CJ wants to IR him but he's only out with "exhaustion" and no real timetable outside of the first 2 weeks of the season. I'm leaning towards no since its so indefinate and not a real injury but I'd rather hear from a few people first.

I thought there was a clause last year in the RIHC that stated if a player missed 2 consecutive games, even with no other info, he could be placed on the IR.

I would lean toward letting him go on the IR, but he has to be taken off once he appears in or dresses for a game.

From rotoworld:
Center Primoz Brezec will miss the first two weeks of the season due to exhaustion.

It will be interesting to see who the Bobcats play at center. We like the idea of playing Emeka Okafor at center and starting Sean May at PF. It's possible that Melvin Ely or Jake Voskuhl will start at center, leaving May on the bench, but if May starts on Wednesday, look into picking him up.

I think since they are stating a time that it should be allowed.
He is going to miss the first two weeks.

I have moved Pau Gasol to IR on 11/2
and Josh Howard to IR on 11/8.
Source: RotoWorld 11/7. Out two weeks with a sprained ankle.

Maybe we could start a new thread Farn? For this kind of stuff and some discussion. I was looking for a place to vent on my two awful pick ups so far(Duhon and Patterson) who have a combined 4 points,1 rebound, 1 steal and 2 turnovers.

I dont find anything in the rules stating that you are required to post evidence prior to moving a player to IS or your intention to do so.
If there is a challenge to your move, then of course you will need to provide the evidence for the move.
All managers should have enough integrity to follow the spirit of the rules.

Also the rules state that a player is no longer IS eligible once he plays in an NBA game.
Being "in uniform" would not necessarily require a player to be moved off the IS slot.

I'm trying to understand the pending trade between Weycool and Wisconson Flyers, TJ Ford for Memhet Okur? Okur is statistically better in 6 of 8 catagories, even in one, and behind (assists) in one compared to Ford. It would also leave wisconsin flyers with only 1 center (Kurt Thomas) who isn't even starting. It seems to be a very lopsided trade. I'd like to hear Wolfer's rationale for making this deal before it goes through.

There is no such "2 games in a row" rule.

From the rules in the RIHC thread:

An NBA player shall be eligible to fill an IS if he is listed in any “informed” source as being injured more seriously than “day-to-day”. Examples of acceptable information sources include (but are not limited to):
RotoWire
RotoWorld
RotoTimes
ESPN

Everything on Rotoworld had him Day-to-Day.

weykool - Charlie V will return tonight so be prepared to drop a guy tomorrow (or today if you want to play him)

sR - Nene is hoping to return tonight as well so please keep your eyes open.

Frick - Marvin Williams has been cleared to play and should be back very soon. Keep your eyes open for his return.

rheo - you have 3 guys eligible for IR and are only using 1 spot. Feel free to help your squad.

wiggs - non injury note but you are about 60 games off the "maximum games" played pace so you may want to get aggressive at some point before you run out of time.

I've dropped Stromile from my roster. Technically I have an active spot open but I'm gonna leave it that way incase TMac is a late addition to a lineup some night and I want put him in immediately.

Jack Hammers - Pau Gasol is due back any day so keep your eye on that.

rheo - I'm assuming you are including Peja or JR as part of your IR with Channing Frye. If you are doing so you can not put them in your active lineup each night in hopes they play. You have to declare one of them as your IR guy and then you can put the other one in your lineup.

Frye is back (but most likely suspended now) so I'll swap him back in and IR Bosh who's out indefinitely.

Nash or Billups is on the trading block.
Looking for Rebounds and Blocks for a team looking for assists and steals.
Would like for points to be even swap.

while perusing my roster to see if I had a guy to offer you I actually realized that Deng is having a crazy season and would be a huge boost to you in rebounds and blocks.

Obviously the name Nash doesn't normally get traded for Deng but if you take a look at stats and are interested let me know.

Or if you see something else you like that I missed hit me.

250.
I took a look at Deng but I dont think he gives me enough in return.
I am also giving up one of the highest rated FT% in the game.
I think Deng has peaked and seems to be declining in numbers.
I might consider a trade of VC for Billups.
You would be getting FT% and Assists while I would be getting Points and Rebs.
Most other categories are about even.
Just something to consider

Dropped Simmons from my team.
Moved Yao and JSmooth to the IR.
At least I was able to get a little more than a game out of Yao.
Talk about bad trade timing.
Oh well....at least you all have a chance now.

great season by all. Good effort by Jack Hammers, who jumped out to a huge lead but used up all his games too early and couldn't quite hang on. Nice job by sR in capturing the title.

I was really surprised this morning to see I had jumped up to 6th (Which was my goal this year).
After Pierce called it quits and Matt Carroll had back problems,
I think I picked up "The Hermannator" after that and didn't worry about any other injuries.
I just put things on cruise control and filled out my roster for the week and checked for DNP adjustments.
