It's nice to know that Elton Brand realizes the detriment to my team!!! GEEZ!
Elton Brand (F) LAC 11/7/2006 For the second time this season, Brand scored only eight points Monday night, the Associated Press reports. "I feel bad for the people who have fantasy teams, but that's about it," Brand said after taking just eight shots. "We're winning the ball game. Tonight I didn't hit much, but before tonight I was shooting over 56 percent from the field, so when I did touch it, it's going in."
Said Brand: "There are a lot of double- and triple-teams, but we have a lot of offensive threats." Brand, who had four rebounds and four assists, was more of a factor on defense, blocking five shots. The bottom line is that Brand is fine, but as the team around him improves, he might cede some of his shots to other players.

Thanks, XP. Unfortunately that link produced this message:
There was a problem: • You are not allowed to view this page because you are not in this league. (Error #152)
Looks like there's not a public view standings option, unless there is and I just don't know where it is.

Hmmmm. That'd be cool if it would allow access. But I'm pretty sure the league is closed as far as joining the league once the season starts so that would not be an issue/concern.
I'll give it a try in the EAST and see if it allows views. I'm doubtful, however.

We are about 1/3 of the way into the season. How is your team doing? Here's your chance to:
- Talk trash - Whine - Tell the equivilent of a poker "bad beat" story - Advertise trade needs - Cry
I'll go ahead and do the FIRST item on this list - I'm kicking all of your asses!!! ;-)
But seriously, I've been really lucky. My first three picks have underperformed either slightly (Brand, picked 9th but ranked 20th per Yahoo) or severely in the case of Jason Richardson due to injury. Antawn Jamison, however, has been a world-beater racking up a 9th overall Yahoo rating by virture of excellent %'s (46%/80%), 2 threes, a steal and a block per game along with about 20 PPG, 8 RPG and nearly 2 AST.
When Dunleavy put up such a stinker in GSW's first game, I jumped on Biedrins thanks to hearing Nelson's talk show that week. Obviously he has been beyond huge (36th) in FG%, blocks and rebounds. Fellow GSWers Pietrus (63rd - huge 3's, great FG%) and Ellis (88th - great FG%, a three, a steal per game and solid assists) all came off the waiver wire and are performing like mid round (or better) picks.
For all of the Point Guard Manifesto talk during/after the draft, my trio of late PG's in Alston (8th round, somehow ranking 27th in Yahoo?!?!?), Mo Williams (9th round, ranks 59th) and Tinsley (11th round, ranks 44th) have kept me competitive in assists (although I will eventually slide there as my GP's are high).
Shaq and J-Rich are my only real "flops" at this point. Josh Howard has come one like a man possessed since his return from injury.
All in all I am very blessed with relatively good health and the good fortune, for now, of capitalizing on the tumultuous GSW injury situation/rotation to put up some gaudy numbers in their high-tempo offense. Who knows how much of the above will last??

I'll add my thoughts too:
I don't know if I was lucky, or if it was only a good draft that currently puts me in 3rd place with 30+ games behind the guys in front of me. early season success is because of Odom, Baron Davis and Yao. most of the rest of my team is solid and sometimes better than expected. the drafting of Zo payed big-time in the blocks category and combined with Yao I am rising and rising there.
Golden State is a good team to have players from. I had 3 (recenlty traded unconsistent and not-starting Dunleavy). Davis is a force and Barnes is hot and hopefully stays that way. with Nellie you never know.
it's also nice to see that I am near the top in that many categories based on games played: PTS, 3PTM, ASS, FT%. the only lack I have is STL and possibly REB. I addressed rebounds with adding Jeff Foster through trade, but may still need an additional force there.
I can only hope that Odom is back soon (recent words are that he is out an additional month) and Dirk is just fine and gets back his shooting-touch. it is also time to make up some games played to catch Species and deejay. seems like a busy 2007 is in front of me.
and last: all the best christmas wishes for you and your families/friends.

Wade gave me Xmas present today.
Exactly what I needed. Cuz I need to slow down a tad. Took some risks with fully playin' some late rounders. Sometimes it worked, more recently Wilkins didn't exactly do what I hoped for. Diaw woke up too, after the horrible start. My FT% kinda sucks, but hopefully my center spots are full soon :) As for 3-pointers, I will never learn.
Injurywise, I cant complain so far.

Yeah, youngroman, Yao's injury hurts. He has been buoying my team thusfar in the East (currently fourth) but it looks like we'll be taking on some more water through February. Hopefully he'll come back with a vengeance then but we'll have to wait and see. I'm more than a little concerned myself. Sounds like they're taking a "Let's hope it heals up ok on its own" approach.

Tree, if anyone can complain about injuries more than you it's me. After all I am in last and have to come up with some excuse other than terrible drafting.
So with respect to injuries, wlecome to my house.
We'll start with Simmons (who never played a game for me), then Brad Miller (pick 3) and now Peja (#4). Webber (#5), although a gamble, has been hurt (or otherwise benched) as often as he has played. Now Pierce (#1) is out for a while, Cassell has been playing hurt for a while, now he looks to be out several games. Now I'm just waiting for the Vince Carter shoe to drop...
I've got so many players playing below their pre-season rankings it's not funny.
I should have given more thought to my team name. Sounds like it was a bad omen...

For me, the low point of the season was in the draft discussion thread. I'm still really embarrassed about when my Mom logged on and dissed Jamaal Tinsley, while preaching the virtues of Smush Parker. She was wrong, and has been told.
I've been able to avoid the injury bug for the most part, but have been seriously plagued by under-performance. I expected much better out of Mike James, Channing Frye, Randy Foye, Kwame Brown, and Smush Parker. Sure, they're not superstars, but they should be much better than they have been. There are only really just 5 players I'm happy with on my roster.
So here I go talking about trading one of them. And not just anyone. Lebron James is on the trading block. I see a number of teams with decent depth, and an abundance of games played. I would be seeking 2 or 3 good players in exchange, and I fully intend to get the better of the deal (IMHO). I'm not going to be emailing each team with offers. The impetus is on you to contact me with offers, and maybe you can add King James to your lineup.

I can't seem to get anything going with my squad. With all the question marks going in, I can't really blame too much on injuries, though I've had a few: R. Allen's injury took me by surprise. A. Kirilenko's did not, but it would be nice if he played better when healthy. A L. Hughes injury has to be expected. Taking Marbury at 38th overall looks to be a disaster.
On the good side, Z. Randolph and A. Stoudemire have been healthy and decent so far. From where I am, I have a long climb to get anywhere in the standings as Tosh's mom has a huge games played advantage on me, and the top 7 are a ways further. Maybe a healthy Allen and Childress will help my team gel. Thanks for the standings xpd!

Well, 10 days after offering up LBJ, I'm pulling him off the market. This league is so deep (12 starters and only 4 bench) that other managers cannot afford to give up 2 or 3 quality players in exchange.
Thanks to all that sent offers. Game on.

You really expected to get 2 or 3 quality players for Lebron? 2 maybe....but 3????? This year Lebron would be barely worth one starter and one mid-level player. It is good to know there are decent managers out there who understand the real value of players and didnt fall for Lebron based on last years numbers. Maybe if you were in a league with a bunch of High Schoolers you might have been able to pull of that kind of trade but this is a testament to the quality of managers who play RIHC.

With over 1/2 the season to go, this is LBJ we're talking about. Except for his FT%, his numbers are still very strong. At the very least, I should be getting 2 players ranked in the 30s.
Only teams that have a viable player on their bench (that can be moved to a starting role) can really acquire LBJ in this league. Without an 'IR', this league is extra hard.
In a keeper league I'm in, I offered Kidd, Redd, and a highly-regarded sleeper for LBJ ... and was soundly rejected. I would have been happy with 2 players like Caron Butler and Mo Williams in this deal.

This is one of those periods of time that it's good to be ahead in games played.

.......heading down the home stretch here boys. We're 50-odd games in with 30-ish to go. Does anyone have the horses to run down Da Bomb and I down the stretch, or is it a two-horse race?
Injuries, as always, are a major factor. As deejay notes, Wade being out for any extended period of time could be a death blow. For me, hopefully that means that The Big Aristotle must step up his game in Flash's absence. Jason Richardson didn't exactly ease into the lineup with 37 minutes, and he could be huge, especially with Antawn Jamison out for several more weeks.
When I really analyzed my possible 'big man for PG' moves, I think I realized that the benefit wasn't enough - at least not now - but may pull that trigger closer to the deadline.
I want victory, but I think I am safe in saying "Sayonara" to AAA and I'll leave one of you to Commish next year's AAA league -- except Tree, who will get sent down to AA like a middle infielder with no power! hahahahaha

is it possible to disable the can't cut provider on Yahoo? I may need to drop Lamar Odom as soon as the info is out that his latest injury is a season-ending one. Thanks.
now when Yao comes back, Odom is out. at least I know why I am sitting that much behind in the standings, but I still think that I can climb as high as 6th, because of my GP deficit.

I assume I have that capability, yr. It will be up to you to remind me though when the news is final.
I was looking at my team over the last month (welcome back, Big Aristotle) and getting a good laugh at some of my FT %'s:
J-Rich: .333 O'Neal: .420 Biedrins: .423 Haslem: .615 Alston: .614 Wallace: .694 Howard: .714
Sheesh!!
But hey, it's hard to complain when you have insurmountable leads in blocks, steals and rebounds. Yawn.

Any particular reason why we follow yahoo's "can't cut list"? I'd hope that with a league of this caliber that such a setting would be unnecessary. I'd like to drop a player on the list, but am currently unable to do so. Can we get rid of this option?

deejay was able to cut Wade which means it can be bypassed somehow. Maybe Species was able to to do it for him. I broght up that point before the beginning of the season. I guess it wasn't important then.

I could do it because Yahoo changed the status. But I do agree this "cant cut" feature is annoying.

Dave and I are excited though :)
I think we started with AAA teams finishing 7th or better, and eventually kept those who were 8th or even 9th.
Still, might as well try to get up to 3rd and see if you can sneak into the majors. Dave and I wish you well in your endeavors! lmao

Wow, I made up a lot of ground in the last month. I gained 9.5 total points from March 24 to April 17 and jumped from 7th to 3rd in the standings. Hopefully I can squeeze into next year's RIBC with this 3rd place finish.
Congrats to Species.

Thanks go out to everyone for a good season. I have to admit I like to be in the "first" QL's that get formed, because typically they are populated with the most active managers. Accordingly, administering this league was a snap so I give you all a pat on the back.
I also appreciate you all being patsies, and following that PG Doctrine crap so religiously that I snapped up so many multi-cat studs and saved PG's for later. I owe much of my success to YOU! lol ;-)
But seriously, lots of luck was involved. Despite my share of injuries to Shaq, Jamison, Richardson and Wallace, I got pretty lucky with Duncan's health, some acceptable years by my late PG's Alston and Tinsley combined with Maurice Williams' phenomenal year and my very lucky pickups of Monta Ellis and Andris Biedrins.....for once local Warrior insight pays off.
