11 are in so while we try to find one more team, we will get the ball rolling on the draft order. We have limited time to get it done, but the draft clock will be adjusted by round as needed.

Here are the roster positions and league settings (direct from the RIHC rules):

Roster Positions (12/3/2): PG, SG, G, G, PF, SF, F, F, C, C, Util, Util, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL
Stat Categories (8): FG%, FT%, 3PTM, PTS, REB, AST, ST, BLK
Max games per position: 84
Roster moves: Daily

Here's a recap of the rules regarding the injury slots:
Three bench slots are available to hold any player. Two additional bench slots will be enabled, but are restricted as “injury slots”, hereafter abbreviated as “IS”.

An NBA player shall be eligible to fill an IS if he is listed in any “informed” source as being injured more seriously than “day-to-day”. Examples of acceptable information sources include (but are not limited to):
RotoWire
RotoWorld
RotoTimes
ESPN
NBA.com
Newspaper stories (citing facts, not speculation).

Once a player appears in an NBA game, he is no longer eligible to fill an IS, even if a published source fails to remove his listing. When a player is no longer IS eligible, the team shall have a limited amount of time to remove that player from the IS, as defined below.

If a manager wishes to move a player into an IS but cannot find a confirming source, he may request that the Commissioner approve the designation. The Commissioner shall use his best judgment in making such a determination.

If any manager believes that another team has improperly moved a player into an IS, he may file a protest with the Commissioner. If any manager disagrees with a Commissioner ruling, he may request a league vote. Six votes shall be required to overturn any Commissioner ruling related to an IS.

Each Wednesday, the Commissioner shall review all rosters to assure that any filled injury slots are appropriate. In the event that an IS is improperly filled, the Commissioner will notify the manager of the violation via the email link at the Yahoo site. The notified manager will have 48 hours to correct the roster or to provide a satisfactory explanation. If a breach remains uncorrected 48 hours after notice, the Commissioner shall have the authority to drop a bench player in order to bring the roster into conformance. The player dropped will be based upon the Commissioner’s judgment as to the best interests of the impacted team.

The Commissioner shall have the latitude to extend the time for curing a breach if he knows that the manager is unreachable and/or unavailable to make the adjustment.

No player which is in an IS slot may be placed in a starting slot on any day unless the bench has been cleared of that injury slot, or unless another player is eligible to replace that player in the vacated IS. In the event of a violation, the Commissioner may elect to void any stats generated by improperly activated player.

As before, no player may be picked up as a free agent and immediately placed in an IS. Free agent additions are only IS eligible 10 days after pickup, unless the player has appeared in an NBA game after the pickup and the IS eligibility occurred thereafter.

I need two managers to send me a list to the e-mail above with numbers 1-12 listed in some random order. I'll then generate the draft order list.

Ok, Bandwagon is the 12 team in, so we are set. These were the two sets of numbers sent in, so the first set reordered the list of 12 teams above, and then the second set established the picking order.

6,10,9,3,1,11,8,5,2,12,4,7
11,1,5,8,9,4,3,12,7,2,6,10

The new order is as follows:

1 beastiemiked
2 WonderB
3 Bandwagon
4 skinneej
5 astade
6 Harver
7 twolves
8 CJ
9 smith32
10 jaydog
11 Golf Freak
12 reebbertxx

We will try to do this quickly. I will try to e-mail people as soon as it is their turn to choose a draft spot. I'll give some amount of time, but then the next available slot will be chosen and we'll move on. Draft will begin as soon as the order is set and astade registers in kafenatid. For the weekend, there will be no clock. I expect the first round to go fairly quickly, but even if we don't go too fast over the weekend, we will pick it up next week at a much faster pace. Draft clock will begin on Monday.

Ok, bmd got the first selection so please list your draft slot below, and then continue on with the next picker.

Still waiting on astade to sign up in Kafenatid before I can start the draft anyway. I had heard from Bandwagon earlier and sent him an e-mail that he was up. At this point, I say we assign him 2nd, I'll take 3rd, and astade 5th since he has not checked in and we will continue the order selection.

Just for clarification during the draft--

Can a drafted player be placed in IS status after completing the draft and open spot can be filled with a undrafted free agent immediately or is there a waiting period??

A drafted player that is already injured and meets the criteria for IS designation can be placed in one of the two DL spots immediately following the draft. No waiting period for draftees.

Ok, to get the ball rolling on the draft, I will take WBs suggestion and use the draft order in post 2. If anyone wants to swap draft picks you can do so, I will try to process trades through kafenatid as soon as possible.

There will be no clock until 8am EST Monday morning, then we will use a 6 hour window to begin with for each pick, and decrease it by one hour every 2 rounds unless it needs to be reduced more. You are free to draft when it is your turn over the weekend, and use the queue and designated picker feature if it is close to your turn. Good luck and happy drafting.

No one has timed out yet, but the pace has slowed down a bit. I will reduce the clock from 6 hours to 4 hours as we make the turn tonight (hopefully). If teams start to time out at that point, the clock will likely have to be reduced further in the later rounds. Long queues are hard to come up with at times, but if it gets within a few picks of your turn, it is a good idea to go ahead and set a short one up.

We are currently at 1:11 per pick and the projected finish stands at very early on the 27th. Since we should all have our players picked up as we draft them anyway, I don't think it would be a problem to have a starting lineup for the first games on the 28th. I'd like to be done on Sunday though. I'll continue to monitor the progress and the last 3-4 rounds will be reduced most likely.

Your picks AK, Boris, Arenas, Ellis, and Calderon........all locked in and you took them. Coming from the other end of the draft i always seem to have 2-3 guys I want and almost all are still available when my pick is up.

CJ,

I was being sincere. I think you have drafted a great, consistent team. I made some mistakes early and now I am left in the position of 'gambler'.

With regards to drafting, I agree sometimes I wish we had some momentum, but we should finish ahead of the beginning of the season. That is what really matters so it's all good. SkinneeJ, thanks for reducing the time between picks that should ensure us finishing.

Have a good weekend, guys.

I picked Marcus Williams off of your Queue but I think you had the wrong Marcus Williams. There are two players with the same name and the one listed on the clippers isn't currently signed by anyone. I'm assuming you wanted the PG from Golden State.

If you intended on drafting the FA Marcus, thats fine but you may want to let the commish know to change your pick if that was a mistake.

How many guys on the bench and how many guys in or can you have at an IR slot? I see T-Mac lost his little medical sign...which means they have him as day to day....was looking to place him on IR till his games minutes were enough to pull him from the slot....but does this mean I can not even have him on the IR as hey was there when I drafted him...I have been so longing for these last rounds to over so I can surf the FA market.
My 5th and 6th round picks may tell my season as O'Neil and T-Mac used to be top ten picks just years ago. Also I think Billips has to slow down at some point this year and he is much older and I think he could miss time for nagging like injuries. Because I noticed I picked three pistons in a row...yikes.

Golf Freak, pick up the correct Marcus Williams in Yahoo, and that should be fine. I don't see a way to correct the pick in kafenatid after follow on picks have been made.

CJ, there are 3 bench spots, and then the 2 IR spots that can only be used when a player on your team meets the criteria at the top of this thread. This thread will be used for all the RIHC leagues to list injuries and discuss eligibility for IR status. Note that Guru posted a rule of thumb about day-to-day players that once they miss 5 games, they can be placed in IR spot.

skinneej - you can fix the M. Williams pick. Click on that team, and then click on that player, and you will have the ability to change the pick.

Thx Dave, that worked!

As far as the draft clock, I failed to delete the weekend pause that we used last weekend, and there is no way to get rid of it once it is in effect. I e-mailed Fred at kafenatid but he said there was nothing he could do. We will have to live with no clock for the weekend and everybody please make an effort to leave queues and make timely picks.

When can a player be placed in IS?? As soon as the draft completed? After initial waiver period or start of season??

When can free agents be picked up?? I assume there is an initial 48 hr or 2 day waiver period which works same as all other Yahoo leagues for all players including all those not initially drafted??

So if a player is placed in IS, a player can be claimed on waivers without specifying to drop anyone??

Drafted players eligible for IS can be placed there as soon as
the draft is over. All players will be free agents and can be
picked up at that time but those will be subject to the 10 day
rule. Hopefully all teams will have their players picked up by then
so there's no confusion.

okay I had to add a few...so I am left with 17 so if they all happen to be picked I will take Patrick Ewing! Why is he an option?

If I understand this right:
1. When the draft is completed today hopefully, players can be placed in IS and a free agent immediately picked up--no waiver period for anyone not originally selected(different than regular Yahoo leagues).

2. Do we have announce on the thread that we are placing someone in IS as I see another group doing??

3. Teams can drop players selected and pick up free agents right away if desired on a first come basis.

4. I assume players dropped if any are the only ones initially on waivers.

And can we get approval on who can be placed on IR as we have some players that are told will not be playing for weeks but are listed as day to day. I know during the season No to being placed on IR but then after missing like 5 games then you can no matter what they are listed as. In our present case we do not have previous played games to base this on.
Example what will T-Mac fall into?

the resposibility is on you to show proof of a players IS eligibility. a referenced article with a return date is almost always honoured.
re. Tmac, from what i know of the situation nothing has been confirmed one way or the other and to me is likly to play on opening day. i would not be allowing an IS designation for him in my own league without further evidence to the contrary. but this isn't my league.

i just posted this in my own league.

you CAN NOT place a designated IS player into your starting lineup in the hope that he will play that day. you must drop someone to clear your IS player to play that day.
something else to consider when requesting an IS eligibility for anyone.

3 yes
4 yes

Just make sure u do not pick up a player that was drafted by
another team before they have a chance to get them on their
roster.
