Subject: RIHC AAA#1 - Let's Get Started
Posted by: skinneej
- Leader [040625911] Thu, Sep 24, 2009, 15:54
Here are the basic rules (copied from RIHC):
Roster Positions (12/3/2): PG, SG, G, G, PF, SF, F, F, C, C, Util, Util, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL Stat Categories (8): FG%, FT%, 3PTM, PTS, REB, AST, ST, BLK Max games per position: 84 Roster moves: Daily
I figured it would be good to recap the rules regarding the injury slots: Three bench slots are available to hold any player. Two additional bench slots will be enabled, but are restricted as “injury slots”, hereafter abbreviated as “IS”.
An NBA player shall be eligible to fill an IS if he is listed in any “informed” source as being injured more seriously than “day-to-day”. Examples of acceptable information sources include (but are not limited to): RotoWire RotoWorld RotoTimes ESPN NBA.com Newspaper stories (citing facts, not speculation).
Once a player appears in an NBA game, he is no longer eligible to fill an IS, even if a published source fails to remove his listing. When a player is no longer IS eligible, the team shall have a limited amount of time to remove that player from the IS, as defined below.
If a manager wishes to move a player into an IS but cannot find a confirming source, he may request that the Commissioner approve the designation. The Commissioner shall use his best judgment in making such a determination.
If any manager believes that another team has improperly moved a player into an IS, he may file a protest with the Commissioner. If any manager disagrees with a Commissioner ruling, he may request a league vote. Six votes shall be required to overturn any Commissioner ruling related to an IS.
Each Wednesday, the Commissioner shall review all rosters to assure that any filled injury slots are appropriate. In the event that an IS is improperly filled, the Commissioner will notify the manager of the violation via the email link at the Yahoo site. The notified manager will have 48 hours to correct the roster or to provide a satisfactory explanation. If a breach remains uncorrected 48 hours after notice, the Commissioner shall have the authority to drop a bench player in order to bring the roster into conformance. The player dropped will be based upon the Commissioner’s judgment as to the best interests of the impacted team.
The Commissioner shall have the latitude to extend the time for curing a breach if he knows that the manager is unreachable and/or unavailable to make the adjustment.
No player which is in an IS slot may be placed in a starting slot on any day unless the bench has been cleared of that injury slot, or unless another player is eligible to replace that player in the vacated IS. In the event of a violation, the Commissioner may elect to void any stats generated by improperly activated player.
As before, no player may be picked up as a free agent and immediately placed in an IS. Free agent additions are only IS eligible 10 days after pickup, unless the player has appeared in an NBA game after the pickup and the IS eligibility occurred thereafter.

Still need one more AAA qualified team to sign up. Right now Goldcoach is the first alternate to take the last spot if no one else joins.
I would like to have the league filled by tomorrow so we can get the draft slot selection process underway. The draft we will plan to commence around the 15th. We don't want to get started too early and have the RIHC league peaking too much at our choices! :)

Ok I received threespleens and Dave R's sets of numbers (Swish yours must be lost in the transatlantic cable still?), so here are the results. Using Guru's precedent, the order is set by sorting all managers in alphabetical order by the list above in post 18, then the first set of numbers reorders them, and the second set assigns the draft positions.
First set - 10 4 9 5 12 2 11 7 8 3 1 6 Second set - 10 4 7 12 1 5 2 9 8 11 3 6
Therefore the draft selection order is as follows:
1 jseth333 2 Swish City (EuroGollum) 3 skinneej 4 s R 5 twolves 6 KnicksFan 7 threespleens 8 dpr 9 tequilla 10 tothreeball 11 Bandwagon 12 Dave R
jseth, you can start the draft slot selection process now by posting which number you want followed by the rest of the group in order.

Twolves may time out at 5:42 EDT if he doesn't pick until after work again today. The draft will continue, but hopefully he gets his pick in before too much delay.
I don't usually like to punt a category in drafts, but Howard is one of the few players that can be worth doing it with. If he's not planning to forgoe that category altogether, he will need some high-volume, high pct shooters from here on out!

Swish has 2 1/2 hours on the clock for his pick. It would be midnight EST when his time comes up. Since we're moving along at a decent clip here, anyone think we should pause the clock for him overnight at midnight, given that he's travelling. He's made an effort previously with his queue, but a lot of players have gone since. He'd probably be able to queue up his next pick which comes right back at him.

I am heading out now which is why I picked. This draft also seems to be moving very slowly so far.
Threespleens said he was from taiwan earlier so I believe that makes it 845AM? depending on exact timezone. On a sat morning could be a few hours our could be any minute.
Sorry if i rushed things by picking.

Too bad about Kevin Love. Hopefully it will not require surgery.
I hope Stephan Jackson plays after all this flap over support and wanting to be traded. After reading stuff this am, it looks like even higher risk pick than I thought.

I am out again tonight in about an hour's time. I have left a queue that can be used for both rounds.
Can i please ask anyone who selects from my queue to not select 2 players with similar profiles. The first 2 guys in my queue are quite similar, and as i will get one of them, i do not want the other.
In short, please use the top 2 guys for my round 6 pick and the others for my round 7 pick.

If anyone wants to discuss their draft picks and rationales to this point, you are free to do so. We are in round 10 currently, so limit your discussion to the first 8 rounds, and then we can do a second half recap as well.
I had the 3rd selection and was almost assuredly getting Dwyane Wade. I thought about dropping down to 5th slot to take whoever was left from Durant/Granger but decided Wade was the best bet. Wade has missed a good deal of games previous to last year, but hiring Tim Grover (MJ's former trainer) helped him get ready for last season where he played 79 games which was a career high. I hope for more of the same.
My second pick I had slated to grab one of the remaining elite pgs. I figured drafting Wade and one of them would give me a big leg up early on in those categories. Calderon, Billups and Kidd were the targets, and Kidd was the last one remaining. Kidd has been the picture of health the last few years, and can still turn a near triple double every night. In the Mavs offense, and the addition of Marion in the off-season, I expect strong numbers across the board as usual. His lack of scoring is buoyed by Wade's league best scoring, and gives me a huge advantage in steals and assists in the early going.
Picks 3-5 were scripted as follows: Take Gerald Wallace or Marion with the 3rd pick, Okur with the 4th and Rashard Lewis with the 5th. Almost really worked out...Got Wallace in the 3rd (#21 overall in my rankings), and nearly got Marion with my 4th pick when it came back around within 5 picks. There was a mini run on Center eligible players just before my 4th round pick, so I dug deeper and looked closely at Biedrens, Okur and Horford. Horford was #37 in my list, while Okur and Biedrens were further down. I wanted the strong expected numbers in rebs, blocks and fg%, and Horford hurts you less in other areas so went with him. Since my round 5 pick was thwarted by someone taking Lewis earlier than I predicted, I went with the next best 3-man: Ray Allen. He's Mr Consistent and his fg% tied his career high last year.
So rounds 6-8 went very well I think for me. My pre-draft plan to get Okur in round 4, worked out well for me in round 6! For a big man that doesn't rebound or block shots particularly well, he racks up nice totals in 3s and doesn't hurt you in any category - A plus for my system. 7th round pick was back and forth and had a tough choice. My short list was Wilson Chandler, Terry, Mayo and Jeff Green. Really went several directions before deciding on the upside of Chandler. My first 6 picks are routinely risk-averse and then I will take a calculated risk with some picks. Pick 8 would have been Ariza or Artest had they lasted. Instead I had narrowed the choices down to TJ Ford and Joakim Noah - either go with another quality pg or another big man. Went Ford and hoped Noah would make it around the turn...darn I was Euro'd yet again! Ford may have slipped though, but Swish grabbed Louis Williams after the turn so who knows. I may kick myself with this pick in the end.
So far I feel great about the draft and may be glad Marion didn't make it back to me if the leg strain hampers him a while. Of course, I read Ford has a strain of his own now so guess that is to be expected with choosing him...

Kevin Durant was an easy choice at #4. His biggest weakness is assists, so I wanted to get a good point guard with my second pick. I wanted Calderon since he's pretty solid, but once he was gone I figured I'd take Rondo. Rondo's playoff numbers were insane, and hopefully he will continue to improve this season.
By the third round I needed a big man and Troy Murphy is an extremely rare double double man who hits 2 three pointers a game. This is important because Rondo's major flaw is his lack of a 3-ball.
Round 4 I just wanted to take the best guy available. Westbrook stuck out as a Steve Francis type (at his peak), so I thought he had good upside. By now I realized a theme of picking really young players and figured why not keep doing this as long as I can!
I still needed shot blockers, but it looked like they would last a couple more rounds, so I took the best available guy again. This was Eric Gordon, another second year player who I think can average 20 per game.
Rounds 6 and 7 were spent on guys who get blocks. Also, I think Thomas and Oden will both have big years. Thomas was great in the second half of last year, and Oden has been very impressive in the preseason.
Round 8, why not take Michael Beasley. He's out of rehab and he'll be starting, so he should have a pretty good year. Plus he's the 4th sophomore that I've drafted.
Round 9 I was debating between Allen Iverson and Nate Robinson. Ultimately I figured Nate had more upside and fit within my draft young strategy. It seems like this was the correct choice because Iverson was still available 18 picks later for my round 10 choice. Maybe I am ranking him too high, but I think last year was a total fluke and he will be a 20 point scorer again this year, with a bunch of assists too. I'm not too worried about his hamstring.

Actually wanted to keep the 5th spot but someone beat me to it. Hoping to have Granger or Durant but did not realize the hype made them higher picks, so Kobe was fine.
Second round hoping a big other than Garnett might fall to me but no luck. I had pencilled in a PG and took Calderon as the other two I liked more got taken just ahead of me.
I had B. Lopez pencilled in for third as I had him last year in 12th round but he got taken alot earlier than I thought.
3-5th rounds decided need some "second/third tier" bigs. However, I have had good luck with Josh in the past and took a flyer for blocks with him figuring, I might be able to get a center next round that did not get as many blocks. I thought Lee was a reach for 3rd round but hoped to get him in the 4th. He got grabbed just ahead of me. I went safe ( I hope) with Aldridge and Bargnani in the 5th. I had seen Bargnanai play in MN the week before so might have been influenced since he made a couple of 3's that night.
The 6-8, I had left open to begion to see what I needed and take best available. I had potentially hoped Horford or Bynum might reach me for rebounding but ultimately chose between Boozer, S. Jax, and Wilson Chandler. I may live to regret the SJax decision.
The 7th round, decided on last of upper tier PG between Andre Miller and OJ but was under time pressure because of other committments and took Andre because of the Iverson in Memphis. I thought this was safer but in reality I think Mayo may have been the better choice after I made the pick because of upside.

For the first round I got the player I had rated 7 with the 8th pick. Dirk isnt exciting but he is consistant across the board and caries little risk.
In round 2 i was decidig between kidd and nash and went for the player I thought was less likely to decline. Nash was very successful at the end of the season when they returned to the run and gun style.
I love Harris in the 3rd round. I produced at a low 2nd round level last year and is young enough to improve. He does come with injury concerns and the question of how he will perform without carter but at this point I was willing to take the risk.
With marion in round four i am hoping he can return somewhat to his numbers of a few years ago. With the fast paced mavs offense it seems possible. Now that he is older he likely cant produce round 1 stats however. Even last years down year he produced round 5 value.
Here I wanted to get some 3 pointers and richardson seemed like the guy. he did not score as much last year as he has in the past but produced better percentages. I feel this is good value and he was a consideration for my round 4 pick.
Up until this point I had not selected a big man so picked up Nene. he had a breakout year last eyar in terms of health and his skills. As long he can stay on the court he provides good value here.
Oj Mayo produced great as a rookie but now comes with some risk with the addition of iverson. If he can manage to progress despite iversons presence he is great value here.
Ron artest has been very up and down over his career but gave me good value in 3s. It is unknown how he will fit in with all the stars in LA but that could potentially lead to an improved fg% (his biggest detriment) even if fewer points.
Of these picks, I got nash, harris, richardson, nene, and mayo the lastest that they went in any RIHC draft. This hoepfully means I am getting good value.

The draft is entered and the league is set to go. Check your rosters to see if I made an errors. Also, check the Injury Slot thread in the basketball forum to see any eligible players you have. Those drafted can be placed in the injury slots at any time, but new pick ups have the 10 day waiting period still.
Feel free to post a recap of the second half of your draft (or the entire draft if you didn't get around to the first half) and post any draft surprises, best picks by yourself or others, and if you see a roster you would trade yours for at this point.

I would rather have picked near the ends because of the time difference and 6hr clock, but I wasn't going to move down in the draft just for convenience. Got an elite center and point guard in the first 2 rounds and went from there.
With Lee and Boozer I am short on blocks and every round I tried to address the issue, the player was taken right before me. O'Neal in 10 and Anderson in 11.
My best pick was Boozer. Worst was Bibby.
Good steals by others were Hilario, Okur and Thompson.
I think Rondo and Camby were early.
I'm not entirely happy with my team this year and it looks like I'm going to be trading after the opening dust settles.
pmtwolves, Sanforders and Swishandedgar I think are strong.

Will put Garcia on IS. Actually made that pick since really busy and travelling and at meeting in SF. I will add someone when I am able to analyze things a bit.
Generally happy with draft with only a couple of regrets. I probably should have taken OJ Mayo instead of Andre and then would not have had to worry about 3's as much after that. I felt compelled to consider that in picks Jefferson, Miller, and Crawford as there were picks on the board, I would have taken ahead of those picks. Also had to fill in rebounds with Prince, Bogut, and Chris Andersen since I passed on Boozer x2. I also had hoped to get Corey Brewer but misjudged how early he might get taken.

I have to say that overall, i'm only so-so with my draft. It started off pretty well - LeBron and Lopez are can't-miss guys, but i was really hoping to be able to select Kidd, Billups or Calderon over Arenas. In hindsight, even Harris might have been a better choice. Gil has been very topsy-turvy in preseason with not many 3s. I still hope he's just shaking off the rust of 2 years inactivity, and that he can be a top 20 player by the end of the season. Fingers crossed.
And then i took Anthony Randolph. Now Wonder-Nellie has decided to bench him behind Maggette and i'm pretty upset about that. Maybe i reached too far, but i still have big hopes. I think there's Gerald Wallace-esque numbers in this guy and i wanted to have fun in RIHC this year as well as try to win. Hopefully Randolph will assist me in both aims.
Happy enough with Jameer in round 5. I was very aware i needed quality PG in case Arenas' knee blows up, and i liked the balance of risk and reward of him at this point. Ben Gordon in 6 seemed about right, even though i don't see a lot of upside for him in Detroit unless Rip goes. Pretty happy with Diaw in 7, also. He's the kind of all round stat-stuffer that i usually try to load up on, so that an injury to one of your top picks still allows the load to be spread and to be competitive.
I am not sure if i reached for Noah or not in 8. I was seduced by his playoff run last season, but i thought he built on that with a pretty solid preseasn. I'm a little worried about the the new influx of talent in the Bulls frontcourt (Taj Gibson, James Johnson) but Brad Miller ain't getting any younger, so i think this is a pretty safe pick with some nice upside. That is the kind of player i am looking for at this point of the draft. Plus i could not wait too much longer for my 2nd center.
I suppose some of the above logic applies to Louis Williams in round 9 as well. There is some danger with his FG%, but it's hard to see how he will not be a big player in Philly. There is no capable backup that i can think of, and he can be a torrid scorer when he wants to be. I don't expect tonnes of assists, but i do see him getting to the line very frequently, and knocking down a lot of his freebies. Nice bonus to FT% at this stage of the draft.
Round 10 brought me Luol Deng. I kept reminding myself how recently it was that he was a top 50 8-cat player. He has hardly been convincing in this preseason, but i think Deng will have a bounceback season. After all, someone has to replace those 20 points that Ben Gordon left behind when he jetted to Detroit. Even without a jump from last year, i think Deng would have to perform very badly to be a bust with the 119th pick. Another good risk/reward to take at this point, IMO.
I think i made a mistake selecting Ramon Sessions in round 11. There were others that i could have taken, and Sessions is looking like a reserve right now behind Jonny Flynn. This pick is an example of seeing a player stick out on your cheatsheets and going for him on a gut feeling. Definitely better ways i could have used this pick.
I think i rounded out with some excellent selections. Tyson Chandler is a really solid 3rd center to get in round 12, despite his lack of blocks and injury propensity. Brandon Rush should be the mini-stud he was at the end of last season, with Mike Dunleavy still not ready. I handcuffed Dunleavy in round 15 anyway, and he's IS eligible, so it's a win-win. Udonis Haslem was my 14th round pick, and i'm very happy to get him, as i considered him earlier. Always good to get a reliable C-eligible double-double threat near the end of the draft.
All in all, not too bad. Not great, but not bad.

Rounds 9-15 for me went pretty well and I got several players I had targetted late. After missing on Noah making the turn after the 8th pick, I decided to get Kaman who was the next highest center I had ranked. Kaman has had a couple good years mixed in between injury plagued years so let's hope this is a good one. Even with the addition of the rebound machine Griffin at PF, I think Kaman can still get double doubles most nights and provide the 1-2 blocks per game I would want from a typical center. Camby is expected to back up both spots, but his injury history means lots of opportunity for Kaman to play big minutes.
I would have taken Stuckey or Ronnie Brewer with the 10th selection had they made it back, but was happy to get Marvin Williams (also considered Morrow). As a 4th year player that is just 23, he has not peaked yet, and I expect him to add to the numbers he has shown over the last few seasons. Adding a 3 pt shot and increasing his scoring and rebounds makes him a good bet for this point of the draft to deliver. Since Morrow didn't make it back around, I decided to go Marc Gasol for another center. Horford and Okur are not prototypical centers, so by adding Kaman and Gasol, I think I have this position covered pretty well now. Okur and Channign Frye are too similar so I did not want both on my team.
Coming up on the 12th pick i thought Ryan Gomes would get snatched from under me. I had him at the top of my queue from my 11th round pick which was 18 picks before. With Jefferson ailing, and Love out for a while, Gomes will be the big beneficiary. I drafted him in 3 leagues late, so expecting nice contributions from him. Speaking of Timberwolves that should have a nice season, Cory Brewer has looked great in pre-season and was one of my sleepers from the get go. Round 8-9 production from a guy in round 13th would be great if it holds up. Flirted with Curry, Hinrick and TMac here, but like the upside of Brewer better this season.
Round 14 saw Nocioni, Turiaf, Jianlin, CDR, and Blair get taken. Checking back over my cheatsheets for where I could grab some additional 3s, Gallinari jumped out at me and I took him over a more experience player like Rasual Butler or Rudy Fernandez. This was a pure gamble to see what happens with his PT over the first few months. To round the draft out, I felt like taking a player that would start on IR. That meant Dunleavy or Garcia was the target here. Dunleavy was taken right before me, so I nearly took Garcia but kept staring at Varejao at the top of my undrafted list. Considred Big Z as well, but Varejao is the starting PF and with any missed time by Shaq or Z he gets extra minutes. 30-35 mins per game from a guy that earns his stats primarliy through hustle play is a good note to end what I think was a quality draft.
I like several other teams and like the direction Bandwagon went with punting FTs, but would not trade teams here. I expect to win as usual and will be disappointed if I do not. Early surprises were C. Butler and Rondo going in the 2nd round (3rd round or later is what I expected for them). Arenas is a risk for sure early in 3rd round, and Marion and Devin Harris slipped further than I thought. Was hoping Anthony Randolph would make it to round 6, but he was snagged a couple rounds early I think as well as were Derrick Rose and Camby.
Mo Williams and Jameer Nelson could be steals as both were top 30 on per game averages last season. Oden, Boozer and Mayo could all be nice surprises from Round 7 as are Terry, Diaw, W. Chandler, Green, etc. Hibbert and R. Brewer in round 10 should be great value picks and produce nicely.

"Gordon will be out for at least 10 days with a sore left groin muscle.
Advice: Gordon is Los Angeles' second-leading scorer this season with 18.9 points per game. He was hurt in the fourth quarter of Saturday's victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, and he missed Monday's loss to New Orleans. Rasual Butler took Gordon's place in the starting lineup against the Hornets, scoring 14 points. Gordon had played more than 38 minutes per game this season for the Clippers. (STATS, Inc.)"

I feel pretty good about my start to the season so far. It will be interesting to see if Bell opts to forego surgery to throw up countless 3s for Don Nelson.
I'm starting to have a think about trades already, and some 3s and steals would be a good thing for me right now. I have plenty of C eligibles, so if you're interested in those, shoot me an offer for some 3s and steals.

I'm in big trouble now. Dunleavy is healthy at least, but i'm a sitting duck without Nelson, Williams, Gordon and now Randolph.
I need to try and somehow ride out the next few months and get healthy again. Easier said than done!

Frustrating times. I seem to be on a conveyer belt of injuries right now. After getting Nelson and Gordon back finally, now i lose Gilbert and Randolph.
I'll keep fighting all the way but cannot really see how i can maintain a challenge, especially against skinneej's frightening pace.
BTW, seeing as Randolph is out indefinitely, i picked up Brockman.

I am looking for a 2-1 or 3-2 trade, as i'm ahead a bit on games and want to tighten up my rotations.
If you are behind on games and you have an offer, feel free to make it. All reasonable offers considered, but i'm particularly heavy at SG/SF with guys like Deng, Gordon, Greene, Casspi, Delfino, Butler etc.

I can't believe i am hanging in there. No way i can win, but given the string of injuries i have had to deal with, i'm shocked to be within shouting distance of the top 3.
Cue my team's imminent collapse during the stretch run ;)

Great win, skinneej. In the end, none of us could get anywhere near you. Good performance from sR as well should see him hit the big league next season. I'll probably do a retrospective of my own debacle of a season when i get some time.

Congratulations to skinneej. He managed to have a great team with astute drafting as he had 3 of the top 6(one by trade) but drafted four of the top 12 ranked players at year end with first four picks.
That was hard to beat as my top ranked player and first round pick was Kobe who was #17 by Yahoo.
Best picks: Josh SMith 3rd round(blocks and steals but not 3s), Jamal Crawford 12th, Bogut 8th, Peja 14th round(for 3s until injured).
Worst picks: Calderon at #2 instead of Rondo or Kidd. Andre Miller 7th round over Boozer, Mayo or Randloph.
Trades: none but probably should have been a bit more serious about looking at possible trades and was never really approached about any trades.
Pickups: Always seemed a day late and seemed to miss all great FA pickups. Finished with 12 of original 15 players drafted.
Areas to look at for improvement: Look at FT% as finished 2nd to last this yeardue to SMith and Bogut primarily. Last year I managed to finish last and did not even have D. Howard.
Overall, probably finished as well as could be expected with draft and multiple injuries as always seemed to have 2 guys on IS.

As i look at my team and how i progressed during the season, i'm actually gobsmacked i managed to finish tied 4th. If i had LeBron for the last 4 of his games, i might even have been able to creep into 3rd. Crazy considering the season i had. The vast majority of my selections played like garbage for large parts of the year, or missed significant time with injuries. So, to finish 4th, i'm quite happy, considering.
1. (2) LeBron James - Fantasy MVP. Great start. 2. (23) Brook Lopez - Great until February, then faded hard towards the end as the Nets' meaningless season wound down. Still worth the the 23rd pick, though. 3. (26) Gilbert Arenas - Bust. 32 games worth of crappy shooting and high assists, and then thought it would be a good idea to aim a gun at one of his teammates. Season over. 4. (47) Anthony Randolph - Was coming onto a game and just getting out of Nellie's doghouse, then a busted ankle. Only 33 games played. 5. (50) Jameer Nelson - Injuries limited him to 65 games, most of which were garbage. A little bit better towards the end, though. 6. (71) Ben Gordon - Mega-uber-bust. A strong start and finish to the season could not disguise the 20 games lost through injury and his terrible form otherwise. 7. (74) Boris Diaw - Played absolutely terrible right up until i traded him for Casspi. Then he miraculously "gets it" and Casspi nosedives through the floor. Terrible trade for me. 8. (95) Joakim Noah - One of the few guys i can give a pass to. Ok, he only played 64 games, but i'll take 11p-11r-2b with the 95th pick. 9. (98) Louis Williams - Semi-bust. Started off like a train, then got hurt and lost in the return of Iverson and emergence of Holiday. 10. (119) Luol Deng - Pretty good. Only 70 games, but very good numbers for his draft position, and close to being a top 50 player. 11. (122) Ramon Sessions - Terrible pick. I mean, what the hell was i thinking? 12. (143) Tyson Chandler - Disaster. Never again. 13. (146) Brandon Rush - See Chandler. 14. (167) Udonis Haslem - Haslem was actually pretty solid for me but i sacrificed him for a reason i can't remember. He would have been a solid end-of-the-bench guy. 15. (170) Mike Dunleavy - Waste. Of. Time.
Overall, my best player was LeBron - obviously. And by a long, long way.
Best pickups:
Andray Blatche - I would have been much, much worse off without Blatche's 22p - 8r - 0.8b - 1.5st - 3.6a - 49% FG - 72% FT after the ASB. Surely the FA pickup of the season. Thank goodness i landed him!
Jarrett Jack - Although he pinged between the starting lineup and the bench, his numbers remained pretty consistently good. Certainly better than most of the end of my draft, and almost on a par with 5th round pick Nelson.
Carlos Delfino - His 3s and steals, and pretty solid all round game, were much appreciated on my depleted squad.
Rasual Butler - Plenty of 3s, supplemented by nice points and blocks. Pretty nice pickup.
Taj Gibson - Not a bad pickup, but slowed noticeably when Noah came back and when his foot problem was diagnosed.

Looks like my post draft analysis from posts 99 and 114 held up pretty well. All of my "big 6" performed well and stayed relatively healthy, and several of the mid to late picks contributed greatly. Wade only missed 5 games, Gerald Wallace missed a couple before my swap for Dirk, and Allen, Kidd and Horford all played at least 80 games. Okur and Wilson Chandler were the only players that missed time and they gave me solid stats when they played. Drafting players with a history of staying healthy or playing through injuries is a key to my strategy.
Kaman and Gasol were nice mid round pick ups and both gave me much more than I expected in rebs and blocks primarily. Gallinari was a sweet late round pick that ended up 3rd in the league in 3s. Other guys like C. Brewer and M. Williams contributed at times, and other than TJ Ford most everyone panned out.
The only free agent pickups that made a difference were Earl Watson which helped in assists, and late in the season C. Frye and Reggie Williams were big. My one trade was targetted to increase FT%, so swapped the #8 player (Wallace) for the #3 player (Dirk) as it turned out. It was hard to trade away the extra steals and blocks, but I felt I had to make a move and improved about 4 or 5 spots in that category. Next season, I hope I can bring it again in RIHC!
