Posted by: wolfer
- [348372416] Thu, Sep 24, 2009, 17:38

Sign up for RIHC AAA #2 right here.

Here are the basic rules (copied from RIHC):

Roster Positions (12/3/2): PG, SG, G, G, PF, SF, F, F, C, C, Util, Util, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL
Stat Categories (8): FG%, FT%, 3PTM, PTS, REB, AST, ST, BLK
Max games per position: 84
Roster moves: Daily

I figured it would be good to recap the rules regarding the injury slots:
Three bench slots are available to hold any player. Two additional bench slots will be enabled, but are restricted as “injury slots”, hereafter abbreviated as “IS”.

An NBA player shall be eligible to fill an IS if he is listed in any “informed” source as being injured more seriously than “day-to-day”. Examples of acceptable information sources include (but are not limited to):
RotoWire
RotoWorld
RotoTimes
ESPN
NBA.com
Newspaper stories (citing facts, not speculation).

Once a player appears in an NBA game, he is no longer eligible to fill an IS, even if a published source fails to remove his listing. When a player is no longer IS eligible, the team shall have a limited amount of time to remove that player from the IS, as defined below.

If a manager wishes to move a player into an IS but cannot find a confirming source, he may request that the Commissioner approve the designation. The Commissioner shall use his best judgment in making such a determination.

If any manager believes that another team has improperly moved a player into an IS, he may file a protest with the Commissioner. If any manager disagrees with a Commissioner ruling, he may request a league vote. Six votes shall be required to overturn any Commissioner ruling related to an IS.

Each Wednesday, the Commissioner shall review all rosters to assure that any filled injury slots are appropriate. In the event that an IS is improperly filled, the Commissioner will notify the manager of the violation via the email link at the Yahoo site. The notified manager will have 48 hours to correct the roster or to provide a satisfactory explanation. If a breach remains uncorrected 48 hours after notice, the Commissioner shall have the authority to drop a bench player in order to bring the roster into conformance. The player dropped will be based upon the Commissioner’s judgment as to the best interests of the impacted team.

The Commissioner shall have the latitude to extend the time for curing a breach if he knows that the manager is unreachable and/or unavailable to make the adjustment.

No player which is in an IS slot may be placed in a starting slot on any day unless the bench has been cleared of that injury slot, or unless another player is eligible to replace that player in the vacated IS. In the event of a violation, the Commissioner may elect to void any stats generated by improperly activated player.

As before, no player may be picked up as a free agent and immediately placed in an IS. Free agent additions are only IS eligible 10 days after pickup, unless the player has appeared in an NBA game after the pickup and the IS eligibility occurred thereafter.

let's play at fanball or fantrax in a pay league instead of TSN with or without approval from guru. we can just see if there is interest without rustling feathers. i just am sick of the shit at TSN. it's been 6 months since i got an answer from CONTACT US. they did give us a freeride on D&T league that crashed during our draft. without any pay teams at these other sites it could be a long winter. ESPN AND YAHOO have shit prizes.

Mr. fear the monkey,

This game runs on Yahoo, not at TSN.
If it is the first time you play, then you are in the wrong league, you need to be in AA, not AAA.
Not sure who you are...

"fear the monkey" is gurudan, and he is qualified for AAA. I have no idea what post 7 is all about - but doesn't seem relevant to this league, which has never had any relationship with TSN.

LOL!! I'm geographically closer to the Bulls than the Pacers, but since I'm from Indiana and the Pacers are our only team in Indiana, are located in our state capital, and chose to be the "Indiana" Pacers as opposed to the Indianapolis Pacers (which was a consideration), I feel I DO have NBA representation in the Pacers :-) It goes without saying that I am not a Pistons fan, despite being about as close to the Motor City as Naptown.

Seems you would have the Cavs or 76'ers to call your own, would you not?

Well, *(&#$!!!

I was so hoping Nash would be there. I was willing to bet the farm on the Suns' top 2. Oh well.

I went big because I didn't think Amare would be there in round 2, and I thought probably Deron Williams wouldn't be either, but I figured I had several top tier PG's available if I went big in round 1. I just wasn't sure if I wanted to bank on Arenas. he says he's not shooting 3's and we'll see if he actually does it. I figure either I'll get a boost in FG% or his 3's will be solid. I just hope he can get to the line and get steals, but really, I just hope he plays!!!
I definitely looked at a couple other PG's here but may comment on that later as I'm sure they won't be around for me in 17 picks.

Thanks anyway, DJ. Really I was ok with someone picking for me - except that I wanted to try to work a trade with weykool. But he picked before seeing my offer so it really didn't matter. I was thinking we are free to use someone's queue if it's available but are supposed to check on this thread first to see if there are any instructions about using it. I suppose my trade offer statement to weykool should have included a post to not use my queue until I had resolved the issue with weykool. Worked out fine, just trying to be preventative for the future.

My team is starting to look like the all-injury team. I should have learned from last year.

good that I got Ray Allen this round. I thought about a lot of other guys and as it turned out 2 of them got injured last night. is this luck or skill?

Yeah, it was a bit of a wreck, to tell you the truth! Wolfer probably would have made the trade I sent to him, but he picked before seeing the offer - and then as DP for both DJ and GuruDan - he blew through their queues, which unfortunately contained my latest 12th round man crush, Luol Deng. Now GuruDan is nowhere to be found.... I guess that's what I get for joking about his handle. :-)

I see I was a fool to sleep on Hibbert. Wow - he put up 20 points and 5 blocks against Howard's Magic. I have to admit, I was targeting him, but not until maybe the 12th or 13th round. I was shocked to see him come off the board when he did, but if the Zebras will let him stay on the floor this year (last year was combination of dumb fouls on his part and a slew of rookie whistles), he could put up some unbelievable block numbers this year. His rebounding is a work in progress, and with Murphy and Rush gobbling them up, I guess we'll have to see if he can average 8 or not - assuming he gets the minutes to do so. I'm just glad I didn't sleep on Brandon Rush too long. He's going to see good minutes as unfortunately, Dunleavy is going to have another very off year while his body continues to heal, from the looks of it.

Nah - I was wondering about the initial process of filling out rosters for teams who are eligible for immediate filling of IS slots due to drafting injured players. It may be first come first served and/or cost those teams their waiver rank. Just checking if there was a better process.
