Great we are all in the draft ....now I will get the draft ordered done and we can start the draft sometime soon. I am thinking I can start with no time limit so no one misses their first pick at least and gives time for people to settle in with the fact we are drafting. Thoughts? |

No time limit for first pick sounds good to me. We may be able to go with no time limit for the entire draft if all goes well.
It is not clear to me how the draft is being ordered. Just a random order and start the draft. Or a random order for picking our slot? Either way is OK with me.

TD - we are gonna "pick where we pick" 1st. Will be done shortly.
Alright, so we needed to arbitrarily assign everyone a number. So CJ suggested just using the order people signed up kafenatid to get a 1-12.
Then we will run the randomizer which will shuffle these numbers up. I will post the order, he will post the randomized #'s shortly after.

I have the order set and will start the draft soon with no clock set so we just pick as we go I guess. At least for a few rounds so everyone gets comfortable and on board. If it takes too long then concerns for getting the draft done in time ...a time limit will have to be set...but I have high hopes it will go fast as we pay attention to our turn and have ques ready.

Snake the Draft?:
By having the draft "snake," you ensure a fair draft by reversing the draft order each round such that the person who has the last pick in the first round will have the first pick in the second round and so on. This setting CANNOT be changed after you have started your draft.

From looking at Kafe....none of the following have Ques set up and all are in line to pick next. Don't be afraid to place in 4-7 players you would take that way you are ready to roll. Later rounds might be a little more research needed...more micro then maybe but for right now not alot of variation from one draft to the next.

I am back sorry I was late...LOL I was sooo worried I would be missing my picks...LOL Looks like it might go a bit slower then I thought.
TD yes you are correct...but we can not do one round a day as we will not make the start of the season. Plus when done we need a few days to get this data all over to Yahoo and time for us to look over the data to make sure all is okay.
We have time and we will see how the next few days go. But TD is right even if we had the clock on what time frame are we talking 4 hours? It would not increase things ....bottom line is US as a group to be checking to make our pick so the next can go. So if we are away for a long period of time we might want to use our ques or send me a list of who you want. Some have already done that.
Otherwise let rock on I can not wait to see my team! ! !

Well we need to average about 35 picks per day to be done by the end the weekend and give CJ a day to get rosters in and be checked. I'm pretty sure we are gonna need a clock like the other RIHC leagues.
We will proceed with a 6 hour clock. The draft clock will continue through weekends. There will be a clock moratorium each night from 1am until 7am Eastern time. Picks can continue to be made during the moratorium period, but the clock will be paused. Those picking at the endpoints do not get a double clock. In addition, if anyone is already in arrears for a pick when their next pick is due, they do not necessarily get a second clock period. This will be subject to Commissioner discretion.

Ok heres my question...is someone making my picks for me or does it pick from my queue automatically? I set up designated pickers because it told me to...I get emails to my phone when its my turn...the only time I can't make picks is like 1 to 8 am.
I set up like three rounds of players so I know whose still out there then choose from that...they are not in order...

RE 69 It depends on how you set it up.You should list your guys in order of preference if you have it set " make first player only available" then your DPs only see and can pick the first player on your queue.
If you prefer you can set it up "Make all your players available" and your DPs can see and pick form your entire queue;obviously you need to leave more instructions with your DPs if this is your choice. This works well if you you are gone for a longer period of time; you can tell your DPS for instance;Take a PG in round 8 and A SG in round 9.

I think it is a little early to start to panic.
We need to set a 4 hour clock and encourage those who are taking more than 2 hours to set a queue.
Damoose:
If you know you are going to be available to make your own pick you should set your queue to not available.
Unless you leave specific instructions any of your DP's should be picking from the top of your Q to keep the draft moving.

Oh I am not in a panic rather want to suggest things to better get this along. Actually Everyone has been doing great for making their picks if you ask me....problem is we got a little behind schedule in getting the last few owners into the league as the AAA were off and on again with who they might be pulling up from our league.
So just want to keep talking on here about lets make a commitment to string a time frame where we can all draft as much as we can for an hour or two then back to normal and we will make it. At some point we need to make a spurt so we are not facing last day.

I started the 4 hour rule We are now on a timer 4 hours is still a long time to wait to make a pick especially during the day...but we will see if this helps.
As of right now we are taking 1 hour to make a pick...not going to work folks. We are projected to be done the day after the season starts...LOL

Its pretty tough to get 10 people together at one time, if we get going today though I've got 20 guys queued up go ahead and use it for rounds 5&6. I'll check in @ 7 OR 8 eastern.

I am surprised we are stuck again. To me, those should be the easiest times to leave a que, when you are 2 picks away. Que up 3 guys, turn it to available and you know you are covered.
3 picks in 12.5 hours is painful.

Slowhand I will take the one player in his que in about 5-10 minuets. Then I am gone so for the rest do not have me as the only one to execute the que.

Everyone is a DP for me. If a queue is available, please pick immediately. I often create queues because I will be away for a few hours.

Regarding queues from Guru himself:
Here are my ground rules for selecting from a queue: If you have a queue and make it available, and it is your turn to pick, I will make your pick if I'm around - unless you have provided specific instructions via email or in this thread. Therefore, do not make (or leave) your queue available if you do not want it used. Note that I will be able to pick from your available queue whether you have designated me as a DP (“designated picker”) or not.
You can specify that only the top name on your queue is to be displayed, or that the entire queue is to be shown. If you make the entire queue visible, I'll certainly check for any emails that might provide additional instructions. You can also authorize a DP to make a selection "free-form" (i.e., typing in the name, rather than selecting from a preset list.) Presumably, you would elect this only if you provide specific instructions to your DP(s).
Regardless, be aware that your queue is not visible to me or to any other designated picker until it is your turn to pick.
Anyone that is available to make their own pick should have their queue set to "not available".
If the queue is "available" then it is presumed that they are away and a DP should make the pick AFTER checking this thread for any specific instructions.

yeah - had a bunch of folks in my q that i threw together at 5:00 am central - just got caught by the pace - got home a little later than normal and there you go...I will live with it - I like picking people 4 rounds early...

Looks like we may be done for the night...I think we did great today and we are in a better position for it.
I woudl like to finish the next 8 rounds in the next 4 days giving us Monday time to look over teams and schedules. Really seems weird like the season is starting early or something.

We have made some incredible progress the last 24 hours, great work by everybody. Lets keep our foot on the floor and we should be able to wrap this up over the weekend giving CJ all of Monday to get rosters in and everything checked over.

To put in perspective how great this league has done once we got rolling with kafenatid, we started the draft 3 days AFTER the "the big leagues" of RIHC... and we have caught up to dead even, both in the 12th round. We probably gave them a 75 pick head start or so and caught up.

I was surprised G Hill went so late...but I might be the knucklehead in thinking this. Some of the late rounds I am seeing guys still available that I was surprised to see ...but again we all have a different take on value don't we? Kind of had to take Hill if Parker(or traded) or Gino miss anytime this guy is an instant insert.
After the draft I am an active trader and already have a few guys that got drafted by other teams on my want to get list. And I have a few guys Like Wallace I would not mind parting with.
Anyone have interest in trading already?

This is great....we will have at least Sunday and Monday to set up / look over our teams.
As soon as the draft is over (I am sure today) I will have the data on yahoo so you can make sure the players drafted have properly appeared on your team.
On another note...I have one last guy I want really bad and I am sure with so many picks before me ......I probably wont get him.....someone will take him and I bet it is GO, slowhand, or Blooki...they seem to select guys in my que over the course of this draft more than anyone. Vampire has to but in this last round he can not do that....lol Not this time
