The draft will be activated momentarily. The 3-hour clock will not start until Monday morning, but picks may be made immediately.

For now, I will attempt to keep players added to teams at ESPN as the draft progresses. I will do my best to stay fairly current. As I recall, during the draft managers cannot directly add players to their own teams unless all managers are granted admin capabilities. We have done that in the past, but perhaps it will not be necessary this year.

If you have not used the draftime software, please read the help page to familiarize yourself with the queuing features and capabilities.

In particular, if you have players in your queue and you make it available, I will select for you unless you have posted instructions here. Note that the software now allows for auto-picks, so you do not need to rely on me or a designated picker to select on your behalf.

Use this thread to ask questions, to report on limitations in your availability, and other draft related discussion. Please refrain from mentioning undrafted players.

It looks like I'll have to close out the draft at ESPN, as otherwise, you can't see a list of available players. This will eliminate our ability to have all undrafted players run through waivers after the draft, but maybe that's no big deal.

Since the draft has been closed out, each manager may add his own drafted players to his roster. So, if you can, please do so.

It'll take me another hour or two (snatching a few minutes at a time) to get to this pick, as I'm entering keepers into my own draft sheets, running everything through a couple of other programs, etc.

In other words, it'll be late when I make my pick, but we'll be up and running then.

Looks like I'll have to be the one adding players to rosters until the waiver period has expired. No prob.

Wow, we are moving quickly.
If we make it to the bottom of round 1 before then, I probably won't be able to make my pick until close to dinner time.

If anybody currently picking wants Jamal Crawford email me. I missed a guy I'd prefer over him.

Sorry for the delay. I didn't expect it to move this quickly. Seeing as though I don't have another pic until round 4, I shouldn't be holding us up.

This is not directly related to the draft - but could be.

When setting up the keepers, I noticed that the league is set for game limits to be enforced by position.

That's different than the past couple of years, I think. Is that the way it should be, or should the limits apply only in the aggregate?

Guru - There is a brief discussion of that in posts 28-32 of the 'Preseason Discussion' thread. I changed it, because that's how it used to be (at CBS). The three people that commented wanted to go back to aggregate.

Doesn't matter to me either way.

Nevermind on post #8. Ben Gordon was the guy I probably would've taken over Crawford. Of course, now it looks like Crawford might be running the point even when he's in the game with Felton.

First of all thanks to you guys for running this. My time has been chaotic and I wondered if I'd even be able to draft, but it has worked out. My team sucks again and I have done zero research, but it is still fun.

re:10-11 Aggregate might be the best this ssn no matter how you want to do it going forward.

I guess I'd vote for aggregate limits this year as well. With a more compact schedule, it's going to be more difficult to cram in those extra games, since we can only use 8 players on any given night.

Dude...this thing auto-picked for me, but I didn't think it was setup to do that. Crap. Not that I'm against my selections (too much), but it was a little startling to see it made them for me.

That happened to me in another draft this year when I tried to put a player in my queue when I was up and set the site to do a delayed auto pick so I could finish my research. Instead, Voila! welcome to the team... as soon as I activated the queue. I don't think you can set the delay without first making your queue active for auto-pick.

Glad you're enjoying it and able to do it this year, Ref. I AM researching and still I took Tyler Hansbrough with my #2 pick. Go figure. I guess I'm expecting West to sit out every night or something.

RSF - It did not autopick. I made those picks from your queue - since you had made it available. That has always been the policy, and this is also mentioned in the opening post. I checked here first to see if there were any instructions to the contrary, and there were none.

If you don't want picks to be made from your queue, then don't make it available.

Uh...I didn't realize I had. Not grooving on this Draftime interface, so far.

And you think I actually read the instructions? Come on...who does THAT?

Ha.

Like I said, I'm, pretty much, ok with the picks. I just missed out on my last minute flip flopping of selections. But, as you point out, the choices lay on me.

[15] I'm also not convinced that Marcus Camby (Round 1 pick) via queue was correct.

I know that he was in my 'general queue' which was turned off.

I don't think he was in my 'pick queue' which should have been empty at that point.

It is possible that I added him to the 'pick queue' early that morning before I left for work .. but I do not remember for sure ...

[21] Was auto-pick turned on? If so, and your pick-specific queue was empty, then it should have reverted to your general queue.

Auto-picks will use your pick-specific queue first, but if that is empty it will look at your general queue.

For the 'pick-specific queue', I had a 4-man queue, which was turned on for auto-pick. The queue ran dry at 1.06, and when empty, there is no option for on/off.

The 'general queue' has always been off for auto-pick.

I knew I was on the clock (beginning at 7:46am) when I arrived at work at 8am. The auto-pick was made at 8:17am. At about 8:30, I had finalized my draft decision, and only then discovered that I had auto-picked Camby.

Not a biggie. There were other people I might have taken, but Camby was in the general queue as a possibility, because he filled a need for me. And maybe I'm wrong, and I actually had added some more players to the pick-specific queue before I left the house (but I don't remember doing so) once the first 4 were gone.

Tosh - I'm guessing that this is a glitch (or a "feature" - not sure). In any event, I alert Fred at Draftime, so that he can look into it prior to baseball season. Fred is currently on vacation (the NBA did not clear their schedule with him in advance).

If you are using autopickfor a pick-specific queue and you don't want it to roll over to your general queue, then you should probably make sure there are enough names in the pick-specific queue to cover your pick, or else empty your general queue. Perhaps the auto-pick setting for the general queue does not apply if names in the general queue are being used to extend a pick-specific queue that is set to auto-pick.

You can probably force the system to turn off autopick for an emptied pick-specific queue by putting a name in that queue first, which will then give you the option to turn it off.

(Boy is that a confusing set of instructions!)

I'm just guessing that this is what happened, based on the symptoms Tosh described.

Damn you Guru!! Only a few more slots and Patterson was mine. Although, now that I think that, his name is close to Robert Pattinson. And he sucks. Go team Jacob.

Err...I think I just lost points on my man card, if not forced to surrender it completely.

Some things never change. RSF is a trading fool along with skinneej; RSF still scoffs at reading instructions; Ref still complains about no time and having a crappy team; Pacers Rule is still a homer; and Guru is still left to sort through the complex mess left behind by all.

And did I hear Jason Terry was a top 3 pick? Just wondering.....

I had this happen to me today. I had been using the "Set Picked-Based Queue" all draft. Of course you need to regenerate it after it chooses a round /pick for you. I did that each time. Today I was gone for 6 hours and came back and three picks had been made.......but I knew that was not possible as I did not have a 36 Que set. So I realized I had a Que I did early in the draft and never looked back at it. Well it defaulted to that and it was using that to pick the second and third pick today.
I guess I am learning as we go but at least I was not holding up the draft.

I thought for sure that Hayes would get back to me. He was the only one in my queue and GO takes him right before me. I had been eyeing him but thought I could get him late with his heart issue. Who knows, could be a wasted pick but many of these probably are this late. Might as well take a chance!

With Lopez out, GO was pretty much forced to go big, I think. Just bad timing on the news.

I'm sorely in need of assists now that Mo Williams will be riding the pine. I'm willing to move KG, who should some solid across the board numbers in points, blocks, rebounds, and steals. He's obviously only a year or so from retirement but will help out in a lot of areas.

He he. No takers, so I had to make the tough call between Shawne Williams and *undrafted player*. I have to agree with Ref [32] at this point in the draft, you've got to go with upside b/c there's a good chance you're tossing that fish back in the sea anyway, so why waste it on some boring old pick. If you left yourself with some holes you need to fill with picks #221-240.....good luck with that!

Well, as much of an immature horse's behind as he was while in Indiana, he didn't exactly endear himself to me or Indiana fans in general. Still, he's a talent with upside as Donnie Walsh recognized when he brought him into New York, and I think playing alongside D-Will there in NJ, he has a real chance to carve himself out a respectable fantasy niche as a modest multi-cat guy bringing the blocks and steals along with the threes, though he is not going to be a big scorer or assist guy.

Maybe another guy would have rounded my team out better but he had such limited upside I felt I had to go with a guy who at least has a chance to earn a roster spot on team Naptown. The third consideration here was also a potential 'homer pick' who will get some run this year, but I thought there was a pretty good chance he could hurt me in FG% so bad that whatever else he brought would result a net loss.

Holy cow, after watching Griffin destroy the Lakers last night, I feel like I could have picked anyone and he will carry me into the top five by himself. His line was positively Lebron like, except that the guy still can't block a shot.
