0 Subject: RIHC AAA-ESPN 2012-13 Regular Season Discussion

Posted by: Pacers Rule
- Leader [910311210] Sun, Nov 04, 2012, 16:16

Now that we're into the regular season, we may as well have one thread we're all using for 'official' communication.

As a reminder, post any IS eligible players in the official RIHC IS thread unless they are already declared there. In that thread, a link to the documenting source should be provided, if possible. Please review the IS rules posted there. Any manager may challenge a declared player's eligibility in that thread.

In this thread, I would also appreciate you posting when you move a player to IS and pick up a replacement player, so it's easier for me to monitor rosters and administrate the IS slots. Thanks to those of you who have already done so in the preseason discussion thread. An improperly added player is subject to removal. If a roster becomes noncompliant due to an IS eligible player playing, the manager should immediately drop a player. Upon notification their their roster is noncompiant, a manager must bring their roster into compliance within 48 hours from notification or a player will be dropped for them to bring their roster into compliance.

I will routinely review rosters on Sunday instead of Wednesday as Guru does in the main league, but will try to review rosters on an ongoing basis. Keep in mind injured players added don't become eligible for IS for 10 days. Also, a player who misses 5 games while day to day becomes eligible for IS once he's missed his fifth consecutive game.

Trade announcements and rationales should be posted here to encourage fellow managers to vote to allow the trade, or at least not vote against it. Basically a trade should benefit each team, at least in the mind of the respective managers. I don't anticipate collusion or gross ignorance so hopefully we won't have to even consider opposing a trade.

Please let me know if any of you have any concerns or suggestions. Let's keep things positive and let's have fun! As always, bonus points for the most posts, funniest posts, and best trash talkers. Best of luck to all!

It appears that ywk picked up Wright before Nash or another rostered player was IS eligible. He failed to declare him IS eligible in the official thread and also did not mention the pickup in our league discussion thread. I have contacted him for an explanation. Without prompt evidence of Nash's eligibility at the time of the pickup, Wright will be removed from his roster and placed on waivers.

Yes I have Harden and was pleased he fell to me at pick 24 but this was pre-trade when he was still a Thunder and I never expected these results after 1 week.

My question for this group of basketballaholics is not really fantasy related but more a question about who is Harden?

I never really thought he was as good as the hype but that may have been skewed by the playoffs. What do you guys think he is capable of long term as a number 1 option. Is this a J. Lin flash in the pan for a few weeks or are we looking at a guy that enters the world of Lebron and Durant? At this time next year will he have been drafted top 3 or back in the 8 to 14 range?

For me, I have never really taken him seriously b/c of his silly beard. It makes him look like a non-athlete. Plus, as a non-starter on a team I don't follow closely....definitely below my radar in terms of superstar potential. He has my attention now, however. Probably playing with pass-first Lin instead of shoot-first Westbrook is going to work out.

Wright was removed from ywk's roster and is on waivers. Any manager, including ywk, may make a waiver claim on him or add him as a FA if no one makes a waiver claim. ywk may add a player to replace him. ywk may also take his roster to 16 since Nash is currently IS eligible.

Ibaka's improving offense was part of the reason I picked him so early. Hitting 3 pointers every once in a while would be a heck of a bonus. He was doing it in preseason though.

GO, tough to argue with a career high in points. 35 minutes is pretty remarkable as well. I owned him last year and had too many 19 minute nights.

G$, Gerald Green is still a work in progress on my bench, but I gotta crow about my "homer" Pacers picks. Last night, Paul George, David West, and George Hill combined to average 20 points on 51% shooting with 1.33 threes, 7 boards, 4 assists, a steal, a block, and shot 82% from the line. Sorry Hibbert's not faring as well for you in the early going. The Pacers have to feed him the ball a little more. Problem is in part, West is just outplaying him offensively right now. I hope the Pacers will be able to re-sign West after this season. I'm afraid with the need to pay PG soon and the max deal they just gave Hibbert, D. West is going to command more in the open market than the P's are going to be willing or able to pay.

Green is definitely playing at a higher level than I thought he was capable of and West seems to be back to his Hornets form. Unfortunatley for me, Hibbert has been disappointment thus far. On the flip side, my Wolves took down your Pacers last night and are 4-1 without Love and Rubio.

With the departure of Harden from OKC, one had to figure they would be looking for another player to step up to support Westbrook and Durant. It made sense that Ibaka would take on a greater role than last year with his new deal and a greater need to score.

Yep, I have to give it up to those Timberwolves. I thought they played absolutely great basketball in that game. When Rubio and Love come back....lookout. I think your guys have a pretty good shot at the postseason. I have not watched the T'Wolves play in a while. I was impressed.

Ibaka may be doing better with Harden gone but I am not sure its all that different from where he was headed anyway. He was hitting long range jumpers and 3's during preseason even with Harden. Supposedly worked on that with the Gasols this summer.

Kevin Martin does probably takes a comprable amount of shots to Harden I would think. Where it might hurt Ibaka if I had to guess Harden probably broke defenders down and gave Ibaka a couple easy baskets per game and K-Mart doesn't really have that ability.

Congratulations Reggie Evans on the first NBA flopping fine. Committed against my man World Peace no less. He should get fined double for flopping vs. World Peace.

How about Hibbert showing some signs of life again and Paul George breaking Reggie's single game Pacer 3's record in just his third season in the league with 9 of them....after hitting none in the first half.

Yeah, I saw that, but thanks for the update. You need Love to put up about 70 more games like that! And Amare....maybe you'll get some good news eventually. Talk about slow starts....

So do we all agree Mayo is the steal of the draft at this point in the season?

Man, D-Will is so far one of the most disappointing #5 picks I've had. I hope he gets his swagger going soon.

Isaiah Thomas, whom I took in the sixth round, is clearly my worst pick to this point in the season. I should have listened to that little voice in the back of my mind that said "Aaron Brooks outplayed him off the bench." But seriously, a PG averaging under 2 apg?? Thanks Teague and George Hill for picking him up!

Paul George is balling as I'd hoped with his multicat production.....though I didn't see 9 threes coming.

D. West is starting to approach his former all-star self in terms of being a go-to scorer and veteran leader.

Gerald Green? Had to replace him with a better Pacer!

G$, your picks are looking pretty brilliant at this point.

Another IS rule is that a player cannot be in your active lineup while on IS. In other words, if you want to put an IS eligible player in your lineup in the event he plays, you must also drop his replacement player at that time. A manager has been emailed about this this evening.

But Amare has been better than I hoped since returning. And Greivis and Hickson have been great for double digit round picks. So good and bad I guess.

I think half of your team will have to go down to give the rest of us a chance to catch you. Having Durant... and then getting Harden (the #3 player) with the 24th pick was just amazing timing and I think a major difference maker. I was ecstatic to get him in a league that drafted right after his trade went down with the 13th pick.

Then mid round picks Jrue and Faried were outstanding to add to the core.

I've been playing fantasy sports for 28 years and I must say this is one of the best drafts I've had. I love draft day or in this case weeks but I always hate those moments when the guy you want goes a pick or two before you. This draft I don't really recall that except I remember wanting to get A Davis

Having the number 1 pick and Getting a guy like Durant can make anyone look good but I remember being super excited to see Harden fall to me at 24 and then the trade to hou was bonus. Didn't really care for Jennings at 25 but was more interested in landing Holiday and Faried. I had those two on my have to get list and just didnt want to take them too soon. I also was fortunate to get Sanders as a FA and until today avoid serious injury to my players. This was just one of those seasons where the stars all aligned.

Speaking of injury, sessions is going to the ir as he is out 2-4 weeks. Picking up big JV

That's ok, G$. You just enjoy your vacation. I'm sure everything will work out just fine ;-)

I want to say top 3 move up to main league along with top 5 plus Guru remaining from main league. That's probably not right b/c I think AA winners might also move all the way up to the main league. Next three or four in AAA stay in AAA with bottom six or so from main league splitting 3 each into two AAA leagues....and the rest of the AAA spots are taken by the other top AA teams moving up to AAA, so the bottom half or so of AAA would move down to AA I think the next year. So it should be a very competitive finish for the teams that get to move up to the main league as well as the teams that get to stay in AAA next year. It could come down to the last night's results in some cases. I really like the live scoring feature of ESPN. You used to have to pay for live scoring in Yahoo...not sure if you still do or not.

Points are still so fluid this late in the season. Tonight...I dropped two points! Dumb me left Brandon Bass on the bench while he's hot with KG out. Tony Allen shot .625 with 2 steals and 3 blocks ALSO on my bench tonight. I guess I deserved to drop tonight.

A lot of it will come down to how our players finish up....and some of it unfortunately may come down to whether all of us bother to finish out the season. Some emails have gone out to several managers who are well below the games played limits for the season to encourage everyone to set their lineups with healthy active players to try to get their games played. I'd hate to see someone move up to the main league and someone not b/c someone else mailed in their season and stopped playing their games. It's been a great season so let's finish it strong and best of luck to all!
