Welcome all. E-mail invites have been sent out to the 8 members so far of the league. If you haven't received one, please check your "Junk" file. If you still haven't received one, send me an e-mail.

Draftime registration invites should go out later today.

We now have enough volunteers to play a second league to allow us to fill this one. We will wait a bit to see if/how many of these will be needed.

Just to let you all know where we are, I am in the process of getting confirmations from the managers who will be taking second teams, inviting them in the order in which they volunteered, and allowing anyone who volunteered out of duty to back out in favour of someone who really wants to play.

Sometime today, or perhaps early tomorrow, I will post a list of our managers and invite two volunteers to send me two sets of numbers from 1 to 12 randomized at random.org. This will produce the order in which we pick our draft positions.

So you might think about what draft positions you would prefer.

We will proceed with deriving the order for the selection of draft positions.

I will take two sets of random numbers from 1 to 12 from random.org. Just go ahead and derive a set, and send it to me.

There are different ways to do this. What I do is
1. use the first set to reorder the names above; then
2. use the second set to assign draft slots.

Remember we aren't assigning draft positions here; we are assigning slots to select draft positions.

As we're finishing up here, we should talk about whtn the draft will be held.

The baseline is RIHC. Quoting Guru:

"Still planning to start the draft on October 16th. First round will be untimed (within reason). I'll probably actually open the draft on Oct. 15 for early picks and queue setup."

We need to start within a day, or two at most, of RIHC's plan for Thursday. I would prefer to start earlier rather than later, because I think they will be faster drafters than we are.

But my default position is that the same day would be fine.

In any case:

1. The draft room will be opened on the day before the "official" start. Owners are encouraged to queue up, and pick if they want.

2. The first round is untimed, unless it's uncompleted within the first day. Ordinarily, a 4 hour clock would be established before the second day.

Re 38. I too prefer an earlier start, although if queues are used things tend to move fairly well. I just hate to feel too pressured to "get the draft done" before the season starts, so the sooner its open the better.

OK, that was easy then.

1. The draft will officially start on Tuesday morning at 9 A.M. The first round will be untimed, unless it isn't finished by Wednesday morning in which case a 4-hour clock will be instituted.

2. The draft will be open on Monday in the early afternoon. You are encouraged to set up queues. You can pick, but are under no pressure to.

3. Unless we are going exceptionally fast, a 4 hour-clock will be instituted on Wednesday morning. The clock will stop from (about) midnight to 9 A.M. ET.

4. The clock will not stop on weekends, although I will move to a 6-hour clock on weekends if there is any significant demand for it.

Although the draft doesn't start "officially" till tomorrow morning, it is now open for the leaving of queues and early picks if you wish to.
You are under no pressure to pick today. You are encouraged to leave queues where feasible, and to establish designated pickers.

How did Meat pick up Bogut? I tried to pick him up three days ago but the league wouldn't let me because " I have 4 C already" Meat has six C now.
Same with Enes Kanter a few weeks ago. What gives?

Congrats to Goldcoach and his Manta Rays for prevailing. I'm very happy, re 79, that he didn't end up losing by 1 block and 1 rebound, or something.

The struggle among positions 3 through 7 was continous.

I have learned something. When you punt something, punt it. If you're punting FT% you pick Andre Drummond and DeAndre Jordan or Dwight Howard, not Drummond and Conley. Funny thing is Rotoworld published an article before we picked in which a guy punted FT% with a first 3 picks of Lebron, Drummond and Jordan. I was too stubborn to pay attention.
