Anybody live nearby besides me and intends to hit the best track in the country this summer?

I am going for Thursday, which of course is John Velasquez (sp?) bobblehead day. I'll probably only stay for a handful of races before heading back to work. Just enough to wet my appetite.

"best track in the country"

Bold statement. I have never been there but I have never heard it called the "best track in the country"

I know the quality of racing is pretty good at Saratoga but as far as it being the best track thats very debatable.

Del Mar
Arlington
Gulfstream

to name a few

I've been to Gulfstream. Saratoga is better.

Saratoga has all the rich history. Include the HOF and its hard to top. Its not the most modern. Neither is Yankee Stadium but I would rank that at the top. Saratoga just offers so much. Why do you think the top jockey's drop everything to ride all summer in Saratoga? No, it doesn't have a Triple Crown race. That would be my only knock against it. But the Travers is a top notch race.

The jockeys are after the money. Most of them just move over from Belmont. Don't get me wrong, Saratoga is the major leagues of horse racing for about a month but I think it's just too strong to call it the "best track".

Due to the short length of the meet, I wouldn't call it the best.. It is one of the best though and clearly has a good bit of history and quality racing....

Haven't been to enough of the big tracks to really rate them, but I can say that Churchhill is phenomenal, I got goosebumps walking in, just like I did when I went to Fenway and probably will if I ever get to Yankee Stadium..

Del Mar has to be absolutely amazing. It's on the coast of San Diego. I am going to get out there some day.
