I think I have the site all configured for the 2003 tournament. Temas are priced and brackets are input. Please let me know if you notice any apparent glitches.

The standings page still reflects the 2002 tournament. This will be reset after the tournament starts. You can still look back to see what winning entries looked like last year.

If you have any questions on rules, strategy, tools, or site mechanics, feel free to raise them here.

hi i dont get the rules if u click short does that mean u think the team is going to do bad and long means that u think they will do good? and do u have to pick 10 from every place like south east west or just 10 in total?

you are essentially right
short the teams you think will do bad
long on the teams you think will do well
10 teams shorted total

There is a lot more to it though as picking a top seed short is much different than picking a low seed short.

The simulator can be used to see the effects.

It's all way too complicated for my pea brain but there is extensive discussion in the rules that should answer alot of questions.

There are bonuses etc. that I couldn't even begin to explain. Guess that's why I never do too well, LOL.

without the simulator I would be totally lost...no offense, I guess it is me...I can't understand those rules, haha.

I think I like my picks, but is it better to keep some G$ in the bank or spend them for potential more G$ (i.e. I had 12 G$ and took 2 more addition teams in hopes they pay off)?

Chuck, essentially, the baskets help you to pool groups of teams that you think collectively will do better or worse than they should. However, I wouldn't start considering any baskets before looking at the teams--it usually becomes clear once you look at the teams whether the baskets will make sense for you to pick.

Without getting into actual numbers, suppose you go through and realize that you believe the top seeds won't do well according to your projections. If so, you might also short the #1 seed basket in addition to shorting the individual teams. ("Short" basically means you believe the team will do poorer than could be expected based upon their seed. "Long" means a team should do better than their seed.).

Don't know if this helps. You don't have to short or long any baskets. But if you feel strongly that a conference set of teams or a particular seed will do better or poorer than expected, the baskets will help amplify your return.

thnx i get it now but the 6th comment brought up a whole new question. should i leave money in the bank or have it to 0. if u have more i the bank does that just mean ur longs were mostly marked on lower priced teams and ur shorts on higher. which is better in the bank or not.

There is no "best" answer about money on the bank. But there is no reason to try to bring it close to zero. If you have money left over to start with, it just becomes part of your final score.

In other words, if you have money left over after your picks, don't worry about it. However, I would always make sure I went long 10 teams (or baskets). You don't have to be long ten, but it is really the best approach if you can afford them.
