I've tallied up the picks for this year's contest. They are provided in sortable format. Here is the link for the sort by net position. (Click on column headings for alternate sorts.
A few higlights:
1. The favorite team seems to be Kentucky, with 259 longs and only 51 shorts. 2. Dayton has the most net shorts, although Wake Forest leads in the most shorts. 3. Every team had some activity on both the long and short side. |

Not a big surprise with KY. Dayton has an excellent team this year but is overranked, IMO, with a #4 seed.

I don't understand why people sell short teams who are ranked #9 or less. You only gain their immidiate price for selling them and it's enouth for them to win once inorder to make you lose.

I sold some short because I needed to short at least ten teams or baskets, and I wasn't confident enough in the higher seeds to get ten of them.

If you submit an entry with no basket units, it's not too difficult to make a case where shorting one or two 9-16 seeds makes sense. Not all the top seeds are going to get elimated before their time.
