The 2005 Market Madness site has been launched. Last year's brackets are still loaded if you want to tinker.

Let me know if anything appears to be screwed up.

Brackets are loaded. Hope I didn't screw anything up (but I probably did!)

Have fun.

I've summarized the picks for this year's contest. There are 523 entries, down just slightly from last year's 562.

Washington was the favorite short by a wide margin. They were shorted in 372 entries (71%). The next most shorted item was the Pac 10 basket, at about 43%. Duke was the second most shorted single team, at just under 40%.

The favorite long is Syracuse, appearing as a long on about 40% of all entries. Wake, Illinois, Louisville, and Georgia Tech are the next most popular longs.

Sortable tallies

On the standings page, shouldn't the label 'GAMES' be 'GAINS'?

You could make that case, but the choice of "Games" is intentional.

For each of shorts and longs, your total return is the sum of the "price" component and the results of the "games".

It's been that way for many years, so I'm not inclined to change it now.
