The contest site has been launched for 2016. rotoguru1.com/madness
There's not much to do before the brackets are announced, of course. |

There are 354 entrants this year (up 14% from last year.) I've posted a sortable summary of 2016 unit selections. Click on any linked column heading to sort by that column. A few quick observations:- Favorite shorts are Oregon, Pac 12, Xavier, Virginia, and Utah.
- Favorite longs are Michigan State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and the Big 10..
- Michigan State was the most active unit, with 218 longs and 28 shorts. Still, that means that Kentucky does not appear (in its pure team form) in almost 40% of all slates.
- Every unit had some activity. The two units with the lightest activity were Stony Brook(13) and Cal-Bakersfield,(15) each with four selections (either long or short).
The standings will be updated periodically during the day. Click on the standings link, and the number of games included will appear in the page heading. Remember that because cash received on shorts is part of your net return, entries with large short imbalances will appear at the top of the rankings at the start of the contest. After several rounds, most of those will drift down, unless their shorts have worked out very well. It is typical that some entrants position their picks with the apparent objective of gaining an early lead. Everyone seeks their 15 minutes of fame, I guess.

I'm totally pro-ACC, but the foul calls in the Duke/UNC-W game made it almost unwatchable. Different rules for different ends of the court, apparently.

Glad I'm not alone in my long of Michigan State.

Still a chance for an all-ACC final four.

Guaranteed double-digit seed in the Elite 8 with Gonzaga winning tonight vs. winner of Syracuse/MTSU tomorrow.

Guru,
Would it be possible to show which positions are "closed" on the results page? Either change the color of the background to something like red, or another column with open/closed?
It is not that hard to figure out based on the last round score, but something more intuitive would be helpful.
This is by far my favorite March Madness every year. So different and so many possible ways to hedge and double down on bets.

[6] certainly possible - and a good idea - but not sure I'm going to get to that in the midst of getting ready for baseball processing. We'll see.
