Subject: Shorting Conferences and Seeds

This is definitely not a good year for the little guys. 21 of first 24 games were won by teams from the major conferences. Only two teams from conference baskets have lost going into Friday night(Louisville and Oregon). This looks pretty bad for those of us shorting Conferences heavily.
Same goes for seed baskets. The only "high" seed that is negative is #7.
The initial outlook is good for longing seeds and conferences. Especially #5 who will be the underdog in all second round games(no potential losses). The SEC also looks like it should produce a solid return with only 2 of its teams susceptible to loss in the second round. |

#8 seed basket is looking like a great long as well. Even if they get swept by the #1 seeds in the next round, it could be one of the top ten longs.
I guess they were due. Last year the 8's were swept. |

If all the #8 seeds do get swept in the next round what would the total points be for that long?
Just curious what the points would be if one of them did beat a #1 as well.

#8 basket cost G$4. They all won 1st round games, so that's +G$32, for a net of G$28.
If they all lose the next game (vs. #1 seeds), there is no penalty. So it would still be a net of G$28.
For 1999, the #8 seed basket produced a net return of -G$40, the sixth worst unit. But a gain of G$28 would have ranked seveth best! |

I shorted Conference USA, and got 3 losses, with
Cincy the only winner. So, I'm +$31 right now.
Next for Cincy is Tuls
