wow, can you believe that the season is almost over and soon our bodies will be filled with anticipation, anxiety, hope, disapointment and hopefully relieved that our picks are going through.

conference tournaments start in 2 weeks, are you ready? i know that i am. i can't wait for selection sunday. and those first two days of the tourney are the best 2 days of the year. non stop college basketball action, up and down, filled with the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. there's nothing like a good triple overtime game, where you picked an upset. last second shots, and watching the updated scores go by on the CBS update thing. that feeling you get when you here the little ring, sounding, and you hope and pray, that over the last 3 minutes, Central Conneticut State hasn't given up it's 8 point lead over iowa state. because there's nothing like march madness.

i know that we have a little ways to go until it all starts to unfold, but what teams are you looking for to fall or pick it up over the next 3 weeks? don chaney and his temple teams have danced 14 straight years, but are in danger of missing it this year. will purdue and georgia be able to get in? feel free to speak you mind, and come on! we need to get this forum up and going again!!!

Hey Strike One, it's great to see someone as jacked as I am about the tourney...I think it's the greatest sporting event in the world.I look forward to it more than I did Christmas as a kid.
a few quick thoughts:
At this point I'd say North Carolina and Stanford would be the favorites, although I'm a Duke fan their bench strength is not good...they are basically a 6 player rotation.

UCLA looks to be a dark horse...they won't get too far but could be a spoiler also I like Kentucy in the dark horse category.

Iowa St. looked good beating KU tonite and will probably make a run at the Final 4.

I really like Chaney but he'll have to win the conference to dance and that will be a stretch.

All these are subject to change at a moments notice as I am far too emotional when it comes to the tourney ,so don't anybody bother to bring this post back up to hit me with when I say in 2 weeks "Iowa St. will lose in the 1st round ":)
I'm with Strike One; it's a few weeks off but I'd like to hear some early thoughts!

You guys hit it right on the head. March Madness is by far the best time of the year. It's gettin got the point where approximate seeding can be established for some teams. I live near Philly, and my ex-girlfriend goes to St. Joe's so I have been watching them closely this year. They just won in a huge comback vs UMass last night, and are in the Top 20 in the AP Poll. But they haven't even played anyone in the top 25 all year. I would like to see them do well, but if they win the A-10 tourney and get a 3 or 4 seed, they may disappoint. I am also big fans of Florida and Maryland, and both went through some tough times, but seem like they are on fire lately. The terps win over Duke was HUGE for confidence, and when they have that swagger they are tough. Hopefully they can keep it up through the ACC tournament, because if they do, despite the over-rated label that they have had most of the year, they are going to be very difficult to beat in March. Also, as a Pitt grad I follow the Big East, and can't really see any of those teams going too far. The Big East was very balanced this year, but I don't think that necessarily translates to "good." Teams like BC being seeded so high scare me, because they are only 2-2 vs ranked teams, (and UCONN is no where near ranked anymore, so if you discount that, their only really good win was vs Cuse.) Okay, I should get back to work. Less than two weeks now. Man, I can't wait.

PB, I like St. Joe's and their win over UMass was good, even if UM was only 13-12 at the time. Xavier always seems to turn it on come conference tourney, though.

I hope they do well--I think they are a sure bet for the Dance even if they don't take the A-10 crown, which is great for the conference.

I agree with you about Xavier, they will almost certainly get into the dance. Even if someone else plays with urgency and runs the table, I can't see either St. Joe's or Xavier being pushed out. St. Joe's has one more game before the A-10 tournament. I figure even if they lose Saturday to LaSalle and in the first round of the conference tourney, they will finish the year 24-6 and get a 6 or 7 seed. They have now won 18 of their last 19 games. A two game slide couldn't possibly keep them out.
