why doesn't he? i mean, all he has to do is put Young into his starting roster.

No, he would be substituting young for a another active player, not getting an additional active player.

Well there were other players he could have dropped, but what rational person would, absent speculating that there would be some esoteric rule that no one who even played previously new or was clear about?

Are you going to at least give him an opportunity to drop someone else for Young?

I think I'm with Bili and PD now that it's sorted out. As long as you aren't able to start an extra player, I don't see the issue.

I suppose there is a slight advantage in being able to give yourself an extra available player after the start of the first game, but if you're only able to move a player who was benched for that first game to begin with, I don't see how it's worth changing the rules after the season has started.

He can put him into the starting lineup, but then he has to take someone out of his starting lineup. Bili is right: He doesn't get an extra player, because he only has so many starting positions (and no more).

i've said all along that wouldn't be a problem. why would i suddenly swerve on that?

I don't see how it's worth changing the rules after the season has started.

i don't see it as changing rules. i've never played in a league where you could involve a player who's team already played in a transaction. - to me, allowing that, is changing the rules in mid-stream.

i know this is counter to poli-thinking, but fantasy ball is supposed to be fun, every single rule does not need to be spelled out. there are certain accepted norms, and not being able to involve a player who's team has already played in a transaction is one of them.

So input from the rest of the league on the issue is irrelevant to you?

I kinda wondered when I made the move last nite if it was legal, since New Orleans had already played.......I went ahead and dropped a diff player, added S Young again.......I tend to agree with Tree on this, it does, in effect, give you an "extra roster spot", not just looking at starters/bench, because I could, if I wanted, still start S Young this week (not gonna, but I could).................True, you only have so many starting positons, but I was dropping a guy whose team had already played, and getting a guy I could theoretically still use this week -- Doesn't give an advantage as far as #'s, but, as MITH explained in post 121:

We decided last year to opt out of Yahoo's default system where free agents can be picked up anytime. The major reason I believe was to avoid the situation where RBs 1 and 2 go down on Sunday and a player suddenly becomes valuable and goes to the 1st person to go to the computer. Some people are away many Sundays, some aren't near a computer and some just don't want to have to follow all injuries and rush to the computer when a player suddenly becomes valuable.

But, using this example -- Say Seahawks S. Alexander and Maurice Morris both get hurt in the walk-thru practice at the hotel Sat. nite.......I could still pick-up Seahawk rb #3 (whoever that is) up until kickoff, 1:15 pacific, right?

Like I said, though, I do agree with you, Tree, that my dropping Meachem after his team had played did, in effect, give me xtra roster spot..........

yea, that's it. look - you've had issues with me ever since you and your boy booted me out of a baseball league last year because, from what i gather, you didn't like competitive players.

but why are we suddenly changing long established things because a couple people in the league want to? that defies all logic and sense.

absolutely. imho, as long as you're not dropping a guy who's team has already played.

You're the one changing rules. You wrote: "i've never played in a league where you could involve a player who's team already played in a transaction". I don't know anything about your personal experience but an awful lot of people play in free Yahoo leagues and I'm quite sure the vast majority don't incorporate elaborate external regulations like we do here.

So while allowing something that does not break any established regulations might be "changing the rules in mid-stream" to you, as you put it, to some of us it might not be.

There's no question that Clyde should be disqualified this week. The fact that he's playing my team has no bearing on my position.

The first waiver claims of 2007 have been processed and posted. I received claims from 6 managers, including myself.

We have until tomorrow night at 10pm EST to claim our new property. At that time the claims become void and the free agent market is a normal free-for-all until the start of Week 2 games.

Do I need to drop him? He wasn't claimed thru the waiver process.

Poor Clyde. He scores over 200 points but has the bad luck to face Punk's juggernaut. He's probably thinking the game is rigged.

As for MITH and the Mentors, all that separates you and defeat is a catch and a tackle tonight.

OK, Bili, I guess I gotta forgive ya for drafting Bob Sanders...........Turns out he's my best defensive player :) Now, if I'd just drafted me some RB's, I just might be a little more competitive.........Also doesn't help that I am relying on the NY Giants Offense way too much :(

That last quarter was very tough to watch. Moss was wide open for a huge TD and gets overthrown. In another leage my opponent has McNabb, who picked away and picked away and almost threw and INT in the end. Argh. Lost that game by about 1 point.
