The races are up...

I hope you got your jockeys sorted out Twarpy...I was too late reading your post..If you want to see where you entered your horses go to the "view signups for this player" on your stable page..The list of your entries are there...To find jockeys..go to the "misc" link, and then "jockey pool"...Then write down the jocks numbers that you want ,go back to stable page and go to "select jockeys" and enter your jock selects there...(don't forget to hit the "submit" button)...I usually go for jocks with the best % stats, although i have read that some jocks have preferred riding styles(good at leading horses, coming from the back etc)..I don't know how much credence there is in this however...
(sorry this is too late for this week)...

I have 11 entrants this week, including 3 making their debut for the Bacup stable..(Movie dan is up against Madman and Twarpy entries!(0606)) Those 3 are at longish odds so obviously not rated by the cpu...Bad selecting again i guess...

Of the rest, Sloppy station(3807) goes up against Mine devastion ,from Torals stable...Only 5 entrants in this race and is at 5/2...Mars can is at 15/1(3314) in a 8f turf race(I might have a little wager on him)..Our Idols(6108) is at 8/1 in his race(another that i will put a wee bit of money on,not too much though)...They are my best chances i think...The rest are in maidens or claiming races and just hoping for the best...

Looks to be some good claims available this week from what i have seen so far...

Good luck with your horses this week!!...

I'm steaming mad! I tried to get probably my best 3yo into 0606 also. Got shut out in that race plus the backup! Going against 3 fellow gurupies would have been great.

There were a gazillion entries for all those 3yo maiden races STl...I nearly didnt bother entering mine but i had a look into the next few weeks and things aren't that much better as far as 3yo maiden races go...Time to start racing them against older opposition perhaps?...

Here is the link to Madman's article that STl was talking about in another thread..

I noticed J Kaye signed up for some races this week, but not Goatlocker.

Right now I think 3yo are the worst to own. Too hard to get into races at least for the MSW.

Yeah, the refreshing of the computer pool is making it hard to own 3yo's who haven't won maidens at the moment. OUCH!

I've got a ton of horses going this week. 14 I think. Sorry to hear there are a lot of good claimers this week. I don't have time to go searching. And I haven't been entering my horses in any claim races (which has caused my win% to plummet, BTW) lately, since I know I don't have time to scour the claimers and find replacements. . . At any rate, this means I have 38 horses in 40 barn spots. Pretty full up.

Does anyone have horses running at North Dakota?..There is a 3yo storm cat, colt in a 2.5k claiming race(cpu owned)...He's only had 4 starts so far(not too much success mind you)...At the very least i would say you could get a bundle for him in the auctions....Unfortunately i haven't got a horse running there but will put in a claim anyway(no chance of getting him but you never know!)..

id # 56618- Fried storm...Race 7502..

I've never messed with the auction, but does a 3yo storm cat porgeny with no success really bring in a bundle? How much are we talking? I would think once a horse has shown no success, people would steer clear except maybe for breeding purposes.

When i say that horse hasn't had much suceess yet, i should've really said it has never really had a chance to show its potential...His first 2 starts were as a 2yo (a long time ago)....He was probably never sharp in his next 2 races...In otherwords, just has never been trained properly...For 2.5k he would be worth picking up imo..

From what i've read at various message boards there is literally millions of sim-dollars floating around the sim...Apparently awhile ago there was no limit on how much you could win by betting(the most you can get back now is 500k/week)....I have over 800k in all my stables now and 90% of that i have made in the last 3 weeks(a couple of big bets and got lucky!)..Sim dollars are virtually valueless i think..BP's are what are hard to come by.. It would cost 530 odd bp's to breed that particular horse(Fried Storm)...Is it worth waiting 18 months to turn it into something better(potentially anyway),that is the question??...

From what i can gather, for example, to breed a Mr Prospector(535) x Storm cat(415) x Fluorescent light(49) from scratch would cost somewhere near 1000 bps...

If you used this horse it would cost 125 (to use this horse...if it happened to be a mare it would only be 50bp) plus 535 for Mr P....a total of 650 bps..You save approx 350 bps...(I have no idea if that particular breeding would work!!,just an example)
That's the way i understand it...I still haven't got my head around the breeding side of things yet...

My uneducated guess is that you would get upward of half a million for him at the auction..especially since he is virtually untested yet..

I just had a look on the SSS...He did have a "real" trainer way back then....Either that player gave up on the stable or he was injured in the time he turned from a 2yo into a 3yo..(between his 2nd and 3rd race)..

But to use the horse for breeding it has to be 5 for a 2yo, or 6 for a 3yo IIRC.

I am open for any betting tips you may have. My best stable has about $50K. I am terrible at betting so I stay away from it. I have put some money on a couple of my own horses and always have lost.

That's right STl....Thats why i asked wether it is worth waiting 18 months(or so)to breed him...I think some people would and run him in the meantime(even if it was in Str allowances)...Purely speculation on my part though...

Tips?...Hmmmm..The last time i posted a tip he got blown away..lol..I mainly bet on my own horses also but sometimes there are tips on the sim mb or at the ASR mb...Of my horses i like Mars can the best for value..He hasn't run 8f yet so he may not go the distance but at 15/1 a wee wager to w/p/s is worth it i think....

That horse would indeed bring a bundle.

Notice he has been tried on turf yet, either. Plus, you don't know if he was mismanaged. Any horse with that limited of a track record (3 failures in 4 attempts -- I don't consider speed ratings from wins to be informative) has a great chance to do well later.

It was a nice week for the stlcards stables. 2wins (starter allowanc and a *155 allowance), 2 2nd's, 3 3d's, 1 4th, and 4 out of the money.

Hero Grub shined once again. Maybe my best horse that came from a $5K claim, wins another starter allowance running a 99.1SP. Country Jodie puts her good breeding to work to win on the dirt running a 95.1SP. I selected her to be a turf horse, so you just never know. French Iron gets a nice 2nd place finish in a 12f turf race. He has really found his place as a distance runner. Hot Republic on the other hand seemed to be stretched out to far at 12f and finished out of the money. This horse seems to have a niche at around 9f on turf only. Wingo's Shipments came in 2nd on a mile turf try in his 2nd race but only ran a 67SP. Will have to try dirt next. Mine Sharks (79SP) and Hardly Piddle (83.7SP) both ran 6f MSW races and came in 3d. I'll take it. Vixen Desert, the mare I'm thinkin of breeding came in 4th in the slop running a 75SP. That about summarizes my week. I didn't put in for any claimers. Hope everyone had a good week.

10 races this week. 4 4ths, 3 3rds, 2 2nds, and 1...seventh. Counting for Way, who ruined the neat progression, was duly lost on a claim and removed from my stables.

Napkin Kicking did run a 101, tiring and finished 2nd in a $50Kplus allowance.

cab and my horses didn't do well in New Hampshire. Renfroe gave Mine Devastation the worst ride I've ever seen by a good jockey on jockey select, trying to take this proven closer in a duel for the lead. He's got 24 years experience...and i say it's time for him to pack it in!

Wow, it has been a while.

Not much time lately, so only 4 running this week(after none last week). Light Award followed up his 102 with a 92 and a 3rd place finish. For his career he is now 7-2-1-3.

It was all 2 yo after that. Vague Whisper ran a 65, Ruddy Wain a 62, both personal highs and showing some promise to help anchor what could be a solid homebred 3yo crop next year(led by Broke Night and his races of 68,72,79 so far). Silence is Gold ran just 37 and has yet to break 40 in 3 tries.

This week Blatantly Spank FINALLY debuts. The 7yo Mr. ProsxVerbatim was Lay Off! for what must have been 5-6 weeks after becoming unblocked. After a couple of weeks at Needs Rest, he is finally Ready to Go!

I forgot to mention that I finally won a bet I made. Wagered $1K on my horse Hero Grub coupled with another horse to win the exacta. paid around $48 IIRC.

Actually I made a bit of an incorrect statement earlier, not that anyone cares, but I said I had selected Country Jodie as a turf runner, but I really was thinking of Sally Plow. She has a win on turf, but I am going ot give her a dirt try next week.

A very nice record this week for you STL...

2 wins and a second from my 11 starters...The absolute highlight(and is high on the list as an overall highlight in my training career as well!..lol) is Red Sal winning!..This guy hadn't run better than a 53 sp until today....He trounced his rivals by over 15 lengths in a 12f race!AND he broke into the 60's!!...

Camcorder bore, which was a new aquisition, also won but unfortunately i lost him again in a claiming race..Still...got a win and made some cash from him...

Mars can ran pretty nicely for second..The winner got too far ahead...Ran a 90 sp though, which isn't bad....He came up sharp again too so i wonder if he just tried for the place and then eased up?...
The 3 debutants from Bacup stable were uninspiring overall although not terribly bad...
Picked up Parade shooting(gb) in the claimers for Bacup...

Toral...I think 4 out of 5 of that field were closers iirc...Maybe Renfroe thought that he needed to try and keep pace with the frontrunner to have any sort of chance of getting itm with Mine devastation?..Sloppy just didn't kick on at all today...

Overall, bad placement record from my stables again. But this is as you would expect since I only ran 1 in one claim race (for the aforementioned time constraint reasons) . . .

Highlights:

Two maiden wins:

Well Bert with a 90.2 victory at 7f -- the farthest he's gone so far! Wu-hoo!

Secret Society my first ever homebred. Speed progression in 4 races: 45.1, 66.6, 80.7, 90.5! That's a top-notch time from a 2yo, IMO. That's the 81st fastest rating by a 2yo this year, and the 27th fastest route race by a 2yo this year.

Unfortunately, it came in a loss, so we know that it represents a best effort . . . I'll still take it. Especially since the horse cost me 28 points to breed!

Holy Cow MAdman! A 90+ for a 2yo is fantastic. Getting up near stakes quality if you ask me. Secret Society should easily go 100+ as a 3yo if the progression continues. WTG with the breeding. My first bred horse is now RTG after a little groggy. I think I will give him another week of rest before running him though. Maybe he'll come up sharp, but I'm sure he is on the back-side of RTG so will wait anyway.

cab - nice call with Red Sal.

I have a bunch of horses sharp again this week, but I doubt I'll have the same kind of success.
